I work for Serta- I can give you some suggestions if you tell me what kind of mattress you are looking for and how much you want to spend :).

I buy from a place that manufactures down the street from my old apartment. It's called Original Matress Factory. I doubt there's a location near you because they are pretty local but I love their mattresses. Soo comfy. And not a billion to choose from.

I love our latex mattress...although DH feels he might have preferred the Tempur-pedic we had before.

We have a temperpedic and loooovvvee it. It was pricey but worth it. We have the second firmest option I think.
Oh and king size all the way if you have the space.

@Foodnerd81: we just sold our whole queen bedroom set for a king sized bed. I can't WAIT!!
@dookie32: yes!!

@matador84: you will not be disappointed. Now when we sleep in a queen we are like, oh it's so small! How did we ever survive?! (We may be a little over dramatic).

@Foodnerd81: I have a feeling it will be that way. My husband is a big guy and barely fits in our bed comfortably. He is constantly waking me up at night and I'm tired of being mad at him for not sleeping! It really is long overdue for us.

Temper-pedic Cloud - best money we ever spent. I slept like a log even while pregnant.

@matador84: The iSeries Vantage is our best selling mattress- it comes in a Plush and Firm version. It's a hybrid- innerspring with memory foam layers. I have the Firm and it's amazing. If you are interested in 100% memory foam, I would recommend the iComfort Savant. From a customer service perspective I would avoid pillowtops- they tend to have more issues and not last as long.

Tempur-pedic as well. Best purchase ever. Quite apart from just wanting LO out of the nicu, I can't wait for her to go home so I can get back to my bed.

We just bought ours from tuft and needle. I LOVE it and now can't sleep on anything else!
It's cheap compared to others, it's firm but soft at the same time. I can't feel DH get up in middle of night at all.

@Ms. RV: Haha, I knew you must be a fellow Pittsburgher - I love the Original Mattress Factory, too!

I like firm with a bare minimum of fluff on top. When I shopped for a new mattress a few years ago, it was hard to find - everything had more cushioning than I was looking for.

thanks for this post! I'm following. I'm hoping I can convince DH to go shopping on Sunday. We are in desperate need of a bigger bed!

We have a natural latex mattress and I love it. We found it at a local mattress supplier for much cheaper than the ones you see online.

We just bought a king sized PuraVida mattress- bought sight unseen off of a groupon- and LOVE it. It's memory foam, firm, and eco-friendly.

@LibbyLou: seriously considering the tuft and needle because our mattress is way too soft now and giving me back pains. still loving yours?

soft euro pillow top
king size is essential too....we just got our first one ever last week when we moved to our new house and i am in love with the extra space.

@birdofafeather: yep! I would highly recommend it. they have a 30 day return policy and donate the returns so I feel like no much to lose.
It is a lot lower profile than any others- so box springs are a must. Be sure to factor that in to your costs.

We have a Sealy Optimum memory foam mattress. It was pretty expensive, although not as much as a Tempurpedic, and we love it! We also upgraded to king size at the same time. One of the best purchases we've made for the house.
For traditional style mattresses, I've had really good experiences with Original Mattress Factory.

@dolphin: How long have you had the Casper? We are considering it, or the yoga bed or the Leesa.

@ElbieKay: a few months. We love it. A friend said she prefers it more firm but I like it the at it is!

Casper, seriously life changing. I'm planning on getting DD one too soon. They even sent me a free topper when I asked, amazing customer service!
