T has been potty trained for 3 months but he's only 3 so I have to wipe his butt for him. It's gross but I guess not as gross as a poop diaper. When will he learn how to wipe on his own?

DD1 wants to and knows technically how to. But she still hasn't grasped the front to back and I don't trust she'll do a good enough job for #2!

@regberadaisy: how old is she? I tell my kids to wipe 2 times, then flush, repeat until all poop is gone (If they don't flush my toilet is sure to clog!)

@Mamaof2: 38m! That's a good tip. I think I'm more afraid of her wiping poop into the front! LOL

Would flushable wet wipes help to at least make kiddo self-wiping more efficient?

We use wipes instead of toilet paper because that seems to help a bit. She *can* wipe herself (and does at preschool), but still usually yells "moooooom....come wipe by buuuuuutttt" when at home
ETA: she's just over 3. Wiping improved maybe...3-4 months ago?

W is 3.5 and can wipe her own butt, but I still need to go back and check because she usually misses a little

I would say 4. They start public school then so no choice!

4 ish. We started letting her right before preschool, and then she got a NASTY UTI, so she took a break. But, at five, I trust her.

My mother in law (who runs the little preschool that we use) recently griped that my daughter was the 'only three year old' she'd ever had who didn't wipe herself. I told her that I didn't know any three year olds who did it on their own, but that she was obviously not required to. I'm not super concerned about it, personally. Wiping a butt is so much better than changing a diaper that I really could care less.

My son turns 3 in a few months and we're trying to teach him how to do it now. When he moves up to the primary room (ages 3-5), the teachers don't do it for them anymore. *sigh*
