At our 12 month appointment, our pediatrician said that M can now sleep with a blanket and a pillow. I'm still so nervous about it.
When did you give your LO a blanket and pillow?

DD had had an A&A swaddle as a blanket pretty much since we stopped swaddling. But still no pillow at 22 months.

15 months and still using just a sleep sack. I think it'll be awhile before we introduce a pillow as she sleeps fine without it.

Still nothing at 2! She does use a blanket at daycare though

I gave her an A&A dream blanket around 12 months. We live in a cold climate and once she started walking she ditched her sleep sack. No pillow for us yet.

We started using the AA dream blanket really early on (like 5 months maybe?) We waited on the pillow until 12 months and got a really flat one from Ikea. Once they can roll themselves it isn't as much of an issue. LO hated sleep sacks.

12 months for an A&A dream blanket. She decided on her own to bring a pillow at around 15 months. Now at 22 months she sleeps with four books, two blankets, two bears and a frog.

@pinkb: sometimes she adds things to the crew in the middle of the night.

Around 12 months we did the blanket. Pillow wasn't introduced until we moved her to a floor bed a couple months ago. Now at 23 months she has a lot of stuffed animals and such in bed with her as well.

At 22 months we have LO a super flat pillow when she went from crib to toddler bed. She also upgraded to a comforter and sheets then. She was getting cold at night.

So it's not technically a pillow but she sleeps on top of a plush lamb blanket thing so it's a bit like a pillow. And we do a light blanket in addition to her sleepsack.
Oh & I think I am going to order a memory foam topper for her mattress. Some crib mattresses have toddler sides that are softer but hers doesn't and it's so hard!

She's 2.5 and has both now, in fact our place is so cool she has a lot of blankets. When we moved here a year ago when she was 18 months she just used her baby afghan my grandmother gave her. She eventually ended up with a small pillow in there, and this summer she graduated to a big girl pillow when she got big girl sheets. I think I"ve put the afghan on her ever since she outgrew her snuggie at 4-6 months. No one ever told me she SHOULDN'T have a small blanket for warmth. I used to put it under her after sitting on it while snuggling so it would smell like me.

i've been giving an A&A swaddle blanket for a month or two, but once he rolls around during the night, it just gets crumpled to the side. No pillow as he seems fine without it. He has almost 10 stuffed animals in there though. Started with one, but at one point he insisted they all come in the crib with him. He is almost 24 months.

He started sleeping with a few blankets at around 13 months. He has always loved snuggling with them on the couch so it just made sense to let him have one in his crib once he had passed the "danger zone" so to speak.

Ds had been cosleeping so he's had a pillow and blanket for a while. Now that he's in his crib, we give him both.
Eta: he's 11 months.

We just put a soft fleecy blanket in C's crib last night for the first time- 15 months. She rolls around so much I don't think it did anything to keep her warm but it's another thing to snuggle. I don't think we will do a pillow for a long time. Seems like it would get so crowded in there with a real pillow and se definitely doesn't miss it now.

D had a blanket from early on, maybe 3 months. I gave him a pillow when he asked for it.

Light Blanket starting early...maybe 8 months. But pillow and real blanket just happened 4 days ago when we put her in her big girl bed (almost 30 months).

She's had an A&A swaddle blanket since birth but nothing thicker and no pillow yet at 20 months.

Pillow at 17 months. I gave it to her one night that she was coughing. I tried to take it away and she asked for it back. We are moving to a toddler bed soon with sheets and comforter at approximately 20 months after thanksgiving travel because she keeps climbing out.

DS started sleeping with his AA dream blanket around 10 months. At almost 4 years, he still doesn't use a pillow! I cannot find a decent child size pillow for him.

@ladybee: first, they are still super breathable like the swaddles. If your head is buried in it, you can still breathe. That was key for me since I gave one to DS so early (he never moved around much in his sleep when he was a baby, so I felt ok giving it to him at that age). I also really like the fact that it is 100% cotton, but thick, so it is easy to care for. I really like the design of the ones we have, each of my LOs has one. However, DD's is much softer, and even a bit bigger than DS's but I bought his 3 years ago, so maybe they changed it a bit?

About 16 months, when we got back from our trip. She gets an A&A blanket and even though I bought her a toddler pillow, she prefers one from the couch.

@ladybee: we actually have the Lulujo version (called My Childhood Blanket) ...exact same thing as A&A Dream but Canadian version and about $20 cheaper.
I love how super soft it is, it's still breathable, and it's warm (a lot more than the regular muslin swaddle). It's also big enough that it stays on her even though she moves all over the place in the night. It washes really well and I have no doubts that it will last her into childhood. We love it so much that I bought a second one for daycare.

Minky lovey at 6 months and a minky blanket tucked into the corner of the crib at the same time. I give her blankets at naps sometimes and she would probably be ok with one at night but it seems unnecessary right now. If you're nervous you could go with a knit or crochet blanket with holes!

@ladybee: I really really love the dream blanket. It is heavy but not hot and it is still breathable. I rarely splurge like that but we are really glad we got it! We have the bamboo version.

Gave lo a blanket at 18 months (was the middle of winter) and gave her a pillow around 20 months since she loved lying down on the pillows on our bed. Mainly gave them to her in preparation of moving to a big girl bed which we did at 23 months.

I've been using a blanket with DD since she was born, but no pillows. She just turned 2 months.

13 months & she still has neither. Sometimes I want to cover her with a blanket but she never ever keeps it on so I don't see the point. She has a baby to snuggle in her bed so I'm not worried about her needing something to snuggle. I think it will be adorable when she's finally ready for a pillow & blanket though lol

We live near the beach in SC so it's not brutally cold here, and at 23 months, she still doesn't use either. I have tried both before, and because she's not used to them she would end up waking herself up and messing with them. Especially the blanket, she would get all burrito-rolled up in it and tangled and it would wake her up.

Mine slept with an A&A swaddle since 3 months and will sometimes hop on my pillow in the middle of the night. She's always been a side sleeper so I don't think too much about it. Just usually pick her up off the pillow and put her back on her blanket.
