I have a two year old and still feel like I'm floundering!
Lol, when did you hit your stride and feel like you were rocking the parenting gig?

Once I had two kids. When my second was born, I realized I did know what to do and it was more instinctive and so much easier than when I was a first time parent. I think it really provided some confidence with parenting my toddler, too. I remember the week my husband went back to work after #2 was born - he texted me at the end of the week and said he was shocked he hadn't heard from me in the middle of a meltdown. I told him I couldn't believe it but I hadn't had any and that for some reason I had emerged after our daughter's birth as a more confident parent and from that point it had just become a lot more fun.

With each new phase, I flounder a bit and then I get into a stride and a new phase hits and I'm floundering again.

I agree with @HLK208. After the stride, comes the flounder!
Truly though, I think as parents we're all just learning as we go, and it's ok to flounder sometimes-- you're not alone.

For a long while, I thought I would never get there but 21 months in I'm starting to feel like a bit more in control. I'm actually enjoying spending time with my daughter now because I'm not constantly stressed about it.

I don't find parenting that bad yet. Some days are harder than others, but I think I found my stride very early. Once breastfeeding was established with #1 around six weeks I think it all clicked for me.

Right as T turned a year old I feel like we hit our stride. He's 14 months now and DH and I comment to each other all the time how things are much easier now that we are out of that "first year" rut.

After around 15 months. Still floundering some days because toddlerhood has its own unique challenges, but for the most part, my daughter becoming independent and ae to express her preferences helped me relax and feel more confident.

It comes and it goes. New experiences can still be really stressful but at 18 months parenting became more of a joy.
