Am I the only one who has not been brushing their teeth at 11.5 months old? Oops! I gotta get on that stat! Especially since they are seeing the dentist on Wednesday. We have the dental insurance, might as well use it.

I did start when she had teeth (7.5mo) but I also continued to nurse her 1x a night until about 15-16mo and I didn't brush them in the middle of the night.

@bluestriped bee: We have brushed every night since 6 months old when she got her first 2 teeth. Trying to get in the habit now at 16 months of brushing morning and night with her since we are up to 9 teeth.

I started wiping her mouth after nursing when her teeth started coming in.

We started brushing when he had four teeth, around 6 months old. We started with one of the rubber toothbrushes that went over our finger.
About a month ago, he became obsessed with toothbrushes, so we got him his own. He now brushes his teeth twice a day when mommy does! (He's 1 year old now).

We started when she got her first tooth, so 6 months. It's part of her bedtime routine. She has 8 teeth now at 12 months, and we're starting to brush in the morning as well.

Maybe around 7 months with water before naps and bed, but now she doesn't like it....perhaps it was overkill. I'm not doing it really anymore because she won't let me in her mouth anymore.

@oliviaoblivia: same thing, we start brushing with a real tooth brush and toothpaste as soon as teeth appear. That was 4m and 6m for us.

Once a bunch of teeth started erupting. He's 13m now and has 12 teeth, so we started early.

When she got her first tooth at 9-10 months, we wiped gums before then. Figured it was a good time to start once she actually had teeth and all.

Once the first tooth broke through. Just curious, why would you wait?

Mine only got her first teeth at that age so it was probably around age 1. We didn't use a brush at first though, we just swiped them with a wet towel.

As soon as she got them, we brushed them with a banana baby toothbrush.

@skipra: yeah that's my question, too especially if they're eating solids. I'd understanding maybe waiting if they were breastfed only.

We used the banana toothbrush from about 6 months on, but I don't think any actual "cleaning" was involved. Switched over to a real toothbrush at a year. You're doing good--I don't think we saw the dentist until 2.5!

@bluestriped bee: As soon as she had teeth i started brushing with the baby paste that is safe if swallowed and using a finger brush.
