DD1 was swaddle weaned cold turkey at 11 weeks. She slept the same with or without swaddle so we ditched it. DD2 is 12 weeks and stil swaddled. She sleeps better with it! When did you swaddle wean your LO?

Ds1 we swaddle weaned cold turkey at 11 wks and he sttn that same wk! He only swaddled from wks 5-11 though.
Ds2 is still swaddled at 10 weeks, but he's in a love to dream arms up swaddle and has slept with arms out too so hopefully won't be too painful (knock on wood).

DD will be 13 weeks tomorrow and she is still tightly swaddled in a Halo a Sleepsack Swaddle every night!

I can't remember when we weaned. Maybe 4 months?
We did one arm then both arms out a few weeks later. Then kind of had the swaddle on as a maxi skirt type look and always called it that. Haha. Eventually we switched to a sleep sack and he is still in that at 18 months.

With Charlie I remember it was 4 months right before we sleep trained. We did it gradually over a couple of days with one arm out.
With Olive I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a little earlier. After swaddle weaning cold turkey with her, she slept through the night for the first time! Alas it was a fluke.

DD around 12 weeks. She really hated being swaddled and we only did it consistently from about 7-12 weeks.
DS is 2 weeks and doesn't seem to sleep much differently with or without a swaddle. I usually swaddle him with 1 or both arms out.

We're swaddle weaning right now at 4 months old. The past few nights LO #2 has been fighting his swaddle something fierce. We also just switched him to a Pack N Play from a Rock N Play after a bad report from daycare today. Nothing like the daycare telling you need a room for your second kiddo when you're under contract with selling your condo and buying a house at the same time.
I think that we did swaddle weaning with LO #1 at the same time to a crib.

DD loved to be swaddled so we waited a few weeks longer than PPs. We swaddle weaned cold turkey at 3.5 months and switched to just footed sleepers.

We didn't wean, we just stopped when she could roll over as well as break out of it around 3 months.

My daughter is 4.5 months and we just went cold turkey about a week ago because she started rolling over. I started by having her sleep unswaddled in the rock and olay because she flailed like crazy when she was in her crib. She seems to have gotten used to that so we put her in the crib last night and she did great for half the night. Then we had to move to the pack and play again.

DS is almost 10 weeks and has been breaking his hands out of his swaddle the last few nights. I haven't noticed much difference in the amount of sleep. I was considering getting a magic blanket but sounds like he would probably wean in a few weeks anyway.

With DS I swaddled for an embarrassingly long time. We switched from swaddle and rock n play to merlin and crib at 3.5 mo with DD. I think the merlin is the reason she's still STTN.

@mrssrs: @teawithpaloma : The Merlin would be too hot in a house kept at 78 degrees, right? This future LO will be transitioning out of a swaddle seemingly in late April or May, and it's HOT here in AZ at that time!

Actually the cotton one with just a diaper and maybe a cotton onesie underneath might be ok. It's a lot lighter than I expected, but DD runs cold at night.

@Mae: Was it awful weaning at that age?
@MrsSRS: How old was she when you switched to the merlin and what made you use that instead of a swaddle?

@LindsayInNY: she was just really dependent on it. Without it she just rubbed her eyes constantlyyyyyyyy and would keep herself up and cry and cry. I tried a zipadeezip but it did nothing. I'd have to rock her to sleep then she'd wake herself up every 30-45 min literally all night long. I gave up and bought a Merlin suit and that fixed the problem. Didn't sleep as well as swaddled but light years better than zipadeezip. That worked for a month until she learned to roll in that too and I gave up gentle solutions and sleep trained.

Ugh following... DS is 7wks and without the swaddle would probably wake up after 20-30 mins... He doesn't like it but his sleep would be crap without it. He sleeps swaddled in a RnP and I have no idea how we'll get him un-swaddled into the crib!

With DS it was at around 3.5 months - he slept in a sleep sack after that.
With DD that's a whole different story. She was in der swaddle until 6.5 months - she then started rolling in it (she could roll before that but never did). She moved to a zipadee zip and did fine. She's still in it at 9 months.
ETA: both of them slept in their cribs from early on in our bedroom.

DD really hated being swaddled--we tried everything (arms up swaddle, other swaddles, etc) but she was not a huge fan. The Woombie was the best, and she wore that until she flipped in it at 12 weeks old. Then, we moved her to a Merlin and it was SO. MUCH. BETTER. She much preferred it. When she started rolling in that (just before 6 months old), we skipped a sleep sack and went straight to a footed sleeper.

weaned when she started rolling - although i dont think she cared if swaddled or not - her sleep became terrible after i returned to work and 4 month sleep regression
5 month old is still swaddled although she breaks out in her sleep but does not wake - i just prefer to swaddle her when putting her to sleep as that seems to keep her came and easier to hold.

@LindsayInNY: 3.5 months when we switched. She started rolling and outgrew her miracle blanket swaddle

@MrsADS: DD is still swaddled at 3 1/2 months. Our pediatrician said she would let us know when she's done with it. So we keep doing it for bedtime!

I stopped swaddling around 3 months, which is when she started rolling over. It helped to start with one arm outside the swaddle for a few nights and then both out together. She got used to it pretty quickly!
