Just curious! I just realized that our nephew (almost 7) might not believe anymore and it got me wondering how old I was when I no longer believed.
I think I was around 4/5, I just kind of figured out myself that santa doesn't exist.

I'm not sure I ever believed because Santa had the same handwriting as my mom!

I never believed and neither did one set of my siblings. My other brothers stopped believing by the end of elementary school.

I figured out earlier but around 10 it became harder for me to still believe.. but I still wanted to believe so it is kind-of blurry. I had a vivid imagination so even if people told me things weren't real I still liked to believe that they were.

Never. At some point I went from believing he was an actual fat man who came down our chimney to "he's the spirit of Christmas"...but I don't remember when that was since it wasn't a traumatic experience for me.

I think I was around 7 or 8 questioning it. My 10 and 12 year old nephews still believe, which I find hard to believe

@autumnlove: me too! My mom never tried to disguise her handwriting or anything. I don't know if I figured Santa or the tooth fairy out first.
My niece and nephew believed until they were about 10 or 11. But my sister thought of everything - different Santa paper hid, etc

Santa wrote like my dad because "Santa speaks to each child in the language they are most familiar with...which is often that of their parents"
I'd seen Miracle on 34th Street...so that made sense to me!

11, my 6th grade teacher told me. My bro stopped around 7. He said Santa's handwriting was just like my mom's and Santa signed his gifts "the Fat Man." I'm sure his buddies also had something to do with it. Doubt in a crowd spreads.

I know by 5th grade for sure the jig was up. I can't remember exactly for certain though.
My son is 4. He believes.

I know I was in elementary school... maybe 5th grade?
So far as I know, all our kids still believe.

I just ruined it for my 12 year old this year, because I ASSumed that he knew it was us. Wrong.
I grew up loving Santa, but never really believed that he was responsible for our gifts because we opened everything at midnight. Plus, my parents were immigrants so the Santa concept was more of a school/friends influence.

@shinymama: aw! How'd he take it? Honestly, I would have thought the same thing as you! 12 seems like an age where everyone knows.

@.twist.: We were in line paying for something and he was running off a list of things he might ask Santa for, and I said something like "You're hilarious if you think we're getting you that." ::stone cold silence:: Then finally, eyes wide open he said, "Seriously? It's you guys?" Of course I deflected with my go-to answer of "if you believe Santa brings presents, if you don't, he doesn't" but the jig was up.

It was always understood in our family that our parents/grandparents were acting in the spirit of Santa Claus.
We were also told that if we ever were caught snooping for gifts or spoke about not believing that it wouldn't happen anymore. So yeah, I still believe! lol

@shinymama: awe one day he'll share that story on a daddy blog!!

Kindergarten for me, an older kid blabbed it. I already had my suspicions though.

I don't know how old I was. Younger than nine I think.
D is 7 and I think I'm seeing signs of him wavering.
