I feel like I always learned in sex ed that you can get pregnant any time during intercourse, not just ejaculation, so when we used condoms to prevent we used whenever there was penetration. It was never a debate between us, we both think that I guess?

I think stopping to put on a condom would result in having to basically start over (get worked up again, especially if things aren't as sensitive while using one).

@FaithFertility: haha, well, I learned the same thing as @nana87: that you can get pregnant from pre-ejaculation, so if I was using condoms for birth control, I'd use them the whole time.

@FaithFertility: babies are blessings! I should have been more clear. When using condoms as BC we wrapped it up as soon as physically able to do so.

@nana87: @FaithFertility: I know someone IRL that got pregnant during foreplay. At some point in the first Tri she finally consummated the relationship with her child's father.

Use it the whole time. It was our method when preventing and aside from the fact that you can get pregnant from pre-ejaculate, stopping in the middle to put on a condom would be a mood killer for me!

Condoms aren't birth control unless they are used the whole time! And even then, they have a significant failure rate...

We don't use one. Fool-proof birth control for 10+ years and counting.

When we used them, we absolutely used it the whole time. I did not want babies then. We've done NFP and the pull out method for the last 8+ years and only had pregnancies when we were trying.

When we use them, I usually end up taking itoffhim because I hate them. PNP worked for us before H and then for two years after H. Our only oops was when he didn't pull out in time. My little oopsie baby is 10 weeks today, so condoms it is until ️️.

We only put on a condom when we switch positions to our typical... finishing position, haha. It doesn't kill the mood, it takes like 5 seconds, and we're moving around anyway. I think PnP is just as effective as putting on a condom midway, if you think about it logically (both involve unprotected intercourse to a point.) For us, there's such a minor chance of getting pregnant, pre-ejaculate doesn't phase me.

Based on what I've read, I don't think pre-ejaculate has than much sperm in it at all. It's mainly whatever is left over from the last time of ejaculation, and peeing between that time usually kills what is left over. I honestly think the idea of pre-ejaculate being that potent is a scare tactic from abstinence-only education.

We've gotten pregnant twice now on our first try, so if we are trying to prevent a future "oopsey" we will use them the whole time.

It never ruined the mood for us (on the contrary - it eased the worry about an "oops"), takes literally 2 seconds, and happened when we're naturally switching positions, so it wasn't a big deal at all.

@FaithFertility: we just hate condoms lol. Hence DD2 came early as a surprise lol!

@FaithFertility: then I would just put it in at the end or PNP... If #3 comes early.. Well surprise!! Haha.
