Well, mine was maybe 7th grade, but I feel like nail salons weren't as big then as they are now. I think manicures are much more common and I think girls them earlier now. I will probably take my daughters as a very special treat when they are 5 or so. At the salons around here, a manicure is only $14 or so.

I had gel nails for my wedding, but have never had a manicure.

I was probably 25 when a friend took me for a mani pedi for my birthday!

Not until prom . My mom wasn't much of a hair and makeup girl so it's not something we would have done together

I think I was around 18 when I got a pedicure. No manicure until 22 or so.

That being said, I am for sure going to take DD in a few years. I think 3 or 4 is totally fine. As long as the place has good ventilation and she understands sitting still and all that.

I was eight (8). My nails were painted a pale pink and a couple fingers also got a little flower painted on it.

ETA: The process of hands soaking and massage wasn't nearly as exciting as the payoff. I loved my nails. It's probably my favorite mani of all time.

Professionally, my first one was for my senior pictures. Then I got another one for prom. My mom always did my nails for me before that.

I got one as a special treat for fifth grade graduation. I remember being so amazed because the manicurist painted a flower on one of my nails.

I don't know that I got another one until college.

I got them done for my sweet sixteen.

I vividly remember my mom bringing me when I was 5. I loved it! LO is 2 and very interested now but I can't imagine bringing her until at least 5. I'd do them myself before I bring her to the salon though.

I don’t remember getting one as a kid, though my mom painted my nails and I certainly painted my own nails when I was little. I’m sure I also did at-home manicures too – but I did get manicures in high school.

LO *loves* getting her nails painted and holds really still for it, so I would take her to a salon as a very special treat to get her nails painted. Probably not a real manicure though, just a little lotion and polish.

Some time in college. My mom doesn't really do that sort of thing so that example was never set. I had lots of nail polish and nail kits though, probably starting when I was in late elementary school and able to paint my own.

I was 30. My mom never got her nails done (she wasn't a girly girl and neither am I) so I never thought about the whole mani/pedi thing until later. I haven't gotten a manicure since my wedding almost 4 yrs ago. I do get pedicures once in a blue moon - ever since becoming a mom I totally get why ppl get them done!

I don't remember... but like high school or older. Probably college actually. Although I had pedicures earlier... probably the first was towards the end of middle school. But at that point in my area people didn't really get manis/pedis that much. My mom never did! I think getting them done as a fun thing rather than a fashion thing is more "done" now.
