How old was your LO when they went to the dentist for the first time? Were you glad you went the age you did? How many teeth did they have at the time?

@Smurfette: Our pediatrician told us between 1 and 3 and I just saw my friend took her 1 year old already! But I'm thinking it might make sense to wait until he has more teeth? He only has 6 at the moment...

She's almost 2 and hasn't gone. I really can't see a dentist being able to get into Fort Knox right now, to be honest.

@Adira: I am going to ask our pedi at her 15 month appointment. But like @mediagirl: said there is no way that a dentist could get in her mouth. It is a fight for us to even brush her teeth.

@Adira: I'm going to the dentist for my own check-up tomorrow and plan on asking their opinion. LO only has 2 teeth fully in so far, and 2 more partial.

@mediagirl: hahaha, Fort Knox!
@cmomma17: I need to remember to make Hubs ask his dentist next time he goes because we'll most likely take Xander to his dentist instead of mine.

@Mamaof2: Yes, my husband's dentist office has pediatric dentists, whereas mine doesn't!

I think the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends by their first birthday, but we took DD for the first time at 15 months (and 8 teeth). She'll be going every 6 months now.

My dentist said at the appearance of the first tooth. I didn't do this... she's 8 months and has 7 teeth, and I'll probably wait till a year.

My dentist (whom I've been seeing since I was 9), said that he doesn't need to come in until about 3 years old unless we notice any dark spots or other problems with his teeth. We brush them two times a day and he's had 16 teeth since about 13 months (he's 18 month now). I saw a one year old there during my last visit and the dentist said that it's completely unnecessary at that age.

we started with our 1st one at 3YO...the dentist cleaned my teeth first while she watched (my husband was there too), and then the dentist showed her around the room, the tools, and the computer feed of her mouth to get her comfortable, as she sat on my lap while the dentist checked her teeth, and she was alright with that. We'll start the same with our 2nd one when she is 3.

I was just thinking about this! Lo is 1 and has 12 teeth- I am not sure when its right to bring him!
ETA: Just called the pediatric dentist near us and they asked how many teeth LO has and suggested to bring him in! So his first appointment is getting scheduled right now!
