Hi all. Our amazing nanny is leaving us for grad school and we are hiring someone new. Original nanny was from care.com and one candidate to be the new one is a referral from a friend. How do I conduct my own background check? Any specific services you would recommend? Thx!

I did a background check on my nanny. We used the agency my husband's company uses for their hires. I believe it was around $150. I had to get a consent form from her, which is awkward to ask for but she understood. The guy is very nice and professional. I can wall you his info if you're interested.
I think you can also find web services that do it but I personally trusted this guy since we had other experience with him. -
Could you ask them to get it themselves? I know teachers here have to have a background check and the person has to go down to the police and get it/pay for it themselves
