Our LO is 22 months. He's a terrible sleeper that we sleep trained at 9 months. It was way harder than we expected as he is hella stubborn but in the end it worked. A few months later and a case of croupe and we were back to crappy sleep. It's been bad since June. So we finally decided we need to do something.

He wants us in the room, preferably laying on the floor next to his crib when he falls asleep. And he wakes after midnight and comes in our bed. We decided to just tackled falling asleep part first. We know we were don't want to do straight up CIO so instead we let him CIO as we moved further away from his bed.

We are finally to a point where we can sit in the hall outside his room (where he can't see us but we have to show him where we will be) and he calls out and cries for about 10 minutes. Feels like a huge victory. BUT I'd like to get to where we can put him down, say gnight and leave. What do you think the next step is?
Sorry it's so long!
