Do you stick to the old rule of no white pants/shoes between Labor Day and Memorial Day? I tend not to, but it takes me a while to get past that "fear" of committing a style faux pas every year. Once the weather gets warmer and the sun is shining for more than, like, a minute a day, I want to wear my happy white pants! Stacy and Clinton say that rule is dated. What say you?

I think the rule is outdated, BUT I also think it matters on what fabric and style the pants are as well as what shoes you're wearing with it. If it's warm enough for sandals, I feel like it's warm enough for white pants.
eta: I wore white skinny jeans on Easter weekend, with sandals. It was a touch too cold for the sandals, but other than that I felt the white bottoms were fine!

I just bought white pants and there is a strong chance i'll wear them this weekend. Also, when i bought them; the girl working the dressing room was wearing the same exact pants.

I'm going to Florida tomorrow and my white capris are the only ones that fit post partum so yes I will be wearing them ALL THE TIME. Lol

I thought it was Easter not Memorial Day? Maybe this is just a deep South thing?
Either way, it's an outdated rule. I still follow it, though, but mostly because my white pants are white linen and that feels like a double no-no, ha!

Um, living in FL, I use the rule of if its over 90 degrees you can wear white whenever!

I used to be a stickler about no white until after Memorial Day but given that I live in the South where it's Easter, not Memorial Day, and one of my four pairs of maternity pants are white jeans, I've changed my mind (at least for this year)!

Outdated rule! But it does depend on the weather I think. Spring is so dirty here with leftover salt from snow and muddy puddles that I won't wear them for that reason, but if it's warm enough I would.

@BakerBee: The "rule" is not before Memorial Day EXCEPT on Easter (an exception so you can wear your white shoes and bonnet LOL).
Anyway, I think it's outdated. But then again, I don't live in an extreme climate....

I don't think I have ever stuck to any fashion rules like that. If it looks good and I want to wear it, I don't wait for a certain time of year.

The rule used to be no white shoes before Easter or after Labor day. It was a guideline given out by Brooks Brothers when trying to teach the new rich how to dress like the old rich---people who would store their winter clothes and bring out their resort clothes when the weather warmed up. And then that rule trickled down to the rest of America and people decided it was a hard-and-fast rule of fashion.
But now, there's a thing called Winter White--basically wearing white all year round.
Personally, I think white is great at any time of the year, but the fabric should match the season. White coats, corduroys, leather, velvet, heavy denim in winter---and white seersucker, linen, light cotton, etc in summer.

I didn't even realize that was supposed to be a real rule! Not that I own white pants, but I would wear them whenever I wanted if I did
