I think DH and I will be able to arrange our schedules so one of us can drop off and the other pick up. If not, we'll probably try to do an after-school nanny share, since it's almost impossible to get into the official before/after program. We definitely won't need care before school.

We're planning to do both but we're still a year out and don't have everything figured out (including where DS will go to preschool). Currently our daycare/preschool days are 7-5:30. DH works 4-10's and I doubt he would give that up. He'd have to flex pretty hard to do school pickup or drop-off and I can't do both. We're looking at $1100/month for DD's before/after care at the school so we might flex to avoid that.

We're not sure yet. His school is 20 minutes out of the way- so if we do after care there, it'll be that much later that we get home.

We could have him dropped off at daycare, but it's more expensive because it's a flat day rate for school age.

Third option, is possibility of having someone watch him for the hour between bus drop off and when one of us gets home.

But we won't need before care, the bus will pick him up before I leave for work.

Both! Our school hours are 8:30-2:30, but they'll probably be there from 7:30-4:30, similar to our daycare hours.

I think we'll be able to work our schedules so that they'll just need after.

We use a combination of sitter and grandparent care in the afternoon and plan to continue that in the fall when my son starts prek3. I usually get home from work between 6:30 and 7, and even though it's more expensive I prefer to give him the option of having some down time and individual attention during the day. Plus our sitter does some housekeeping and I don't want to give that up!
