I just got called into the boss' office and told I would be getting a bonus. I could take it monetarily or have our company complete work on our new home of 9 months. As a construction management company I know the work we do is quality. Which way would you lean and then if you lean towards the home work, what would you get done in your space. I'm highly considering having them redo our main bathroom and install a new water heater. Its a pretty substaintial bonus either way.

I would totally have the work done on my house (because it needs it!!) but depending on how important the house work is VS the $$ you would be getting- its such an awesome thing!!! Congratulations!

Woah dang, that's an awesome bonus opportunity! If you think the value of the home work would be more than the monetary bonus AND if you actually want home work done, then I would definitely lean towards having them do the work!
For us, DH prefers to do everything himself, so we would probably take the monetary bonus. It would be SO nice to have someone else do the work though... haha

Wow! That's really nice! Would the worth of working on your home roughly equal the monetary amount? It depends if you have other immediate use for the $, and if you actually really need the work done or it's more like it'd be nice to do. I lean towards house work b/c it's always good to add value to your home!

i'm thinking have the main bathroom tub ripped out, replumbed because it doesnt drain properly, adding in a vent in the ceiling and installing a hot water heater. All plumbing equipment would be bought at cost by my father who works in a plumbing supply warehouse. The problem the becomes that I dont want to ask for too much!! I'm very excited either way!

@sunset840: I would totally go for the work. I would ask for more than you think they want to offer because they can always counter offer. If you offer too low, you'll regret it later. Do you know what the cash would be so you can compare cost of labor to that?
