I can't speak for others but I personally would say something. You're paying for 30 mins.

So the dog only gets checked on and let out once a day?
I think I'd be a little upset if that's the only time he gets attention and let out all day, I'd want to get the time I paid for. If they are only going to do 20 minutes, and I can just pay 66% of what they are charging now then, then that would work too.

I think I would call now and mention it. I don't think it's as important that you can exactly 30 minutes but given the fact they they were there less than 2/3 of the 30 minutes that's annoying. I know they're not cheap so losing 10 minutes each time is a big deal!

@PurplePumps: exactly! I feel she should get a refund or discount for the next time for the time her dog did not get.

Beyond that of just paying for 30 minutes, I chose them (or you did, I'm just thinking in your shoes) because they said my dog would have 30 minutes of love. This is not asking a lot.

Just as an aside, you paid for six 30 minutes sessions and they cut you 56 minutes worth of those sessions. That's almost 2 less full sessions than you paid for. I think if you present it this way, it definitely puts the "leaving a couple minutes early each time" in perspective.

Is there an option to buy 15 min? If that's the case then you are definitely being short changed and I would complain. If 30 min is the lowest time, then I assume that they pick that number because that's how long it could take to do what would be necessary. Maybe next time, add a walk into their chores to make the 30 min necessary.

It wouldn't really bother me if all the work was done and they did a good job.

Our company's minimal billable time is 30 minutes. So even if something takes us 10 minutes, the client pays us for 30.

I would 100% say something. I think you should contact the owner and tell them while you were very happy with the service provided you were upset to find out that they were not staying the full 30 minutes they paid for, per your alarm system. If I was the owner I would want to know. Your dog should be getting a full 30 minutes of their time!

@pui: but I think the difference is it's not like she's paying them to come do chores. She's also paying them to come play with her dog. That's never done!

Yeah, I know you should be happy that they were taken care of but you paid for a service, specifically 30 minutes not 15 minutes. It wasn't a friend or something that offered to do this. It's a company.

Me being passive aggressive, I would causally ask them about their rates and policies. If you get the 30 minute plan, do you get 30 minutes? Also, is there a 15- 20 minute plan? I understand they are busy but shouldn't they say that they would spend time with your dog 30 minutes +/- 5 minutes. If not, wouldn't they offer a plan that doesn't have a time increments? Or say in their policy about what happens if they get done in less than 30 minutes. I'm fine with them leaving after 25 minutes of work but less than that I feel like I'm being ripped off.

The other thing is could it be different people coming each day. Maybe they are unaware that their staff is not staying for 30 minutes and that maybe the boss needs to be aware of this.

This is coming from someone who spoils my dog and my dogs are my babies, so I expect the best for them.

I have never used a pet sitting service, I just board them if I'm out of town, but thanks for bringing this issue up. I would have never thought about this.
