Say you got a notification that a certain store has the items you want on sale in store only. They are $3 more online and shipping is free. What do you do? Do you go to the store to save the $6 or order those things online?

Order, hands down. The time saving/convenience is definitely worth the price differential (that and not expending other resources as well).

I'd probably just order it. Especially since in NYC, where we live, if it isn't walking distance anyway the roundtrip subway fare is about $6 anyway!

Depends on the item and the store and how far it is and how much of a PITA to get to the store. Bulky item, store far away or annoying to get to? Pay the extra money. Store close by and I can easily manage the item? Head on over and save the money.
ETA: By close by, I mean within 5-10 minutes, no traffic, etc. I can practically walk to Target, so if going there will save me $6, yeah, I'm gonna go there. But if you want me to go to the mall, which is 10 minutes away, weird traffic, annoying parking, and large crowds, nope, I'll order it and save myself the hassle.

@littlebug: pretty much how I feel about things, too. This was at the mall, during the Christmas season and I just don't want to brave those crowds...and the parking lot...again.

It depends on the savings. $6 isn't enough incentive.

I would generally pay a little more for the convenience of ordering online. Though lately we have been having a lot of issues getting packages on time so I would weight out how important it is to have it on time.
Lately we have been doing a lot of free store pick up - order online and then go to the costumer service desk to pick up. Yes you have to go to the store but at least the items are ready to go.

For $6, order it. I will only go to a store if there is something that's not available online.

I'm almost always about convenience. If I needed to go to that store or near it for something else, I might go into the store.

If I know I'll drive past the shop and sure they have it, I'll stop. But if I have to drive out of ny way, or go shopping on a weekend...I'll pay the little extra!

It really depends. If it's not close enough, or I don't have time, then I'll order it.

For $6 I would order it... for like $20 or more I would probably go in (unless it was a crazy busy store and then I would need to save more to make it worth it).

Order it! My closest store is six miles away, so if you figure it costs $.50 per mile it has to be over $6 savings for it to actually cost less.

Definitely order. It would have to be fairly significant savings to get me to the store. I recently made a purchase where I could have saved €20 in shipping if I had gone to the store, but the time and effort spent were worth the €20. (It would have taken more than an hour back and forth on public transit plus the time spent in the store, and hoping they had the item in stock).

Now I just have to hope they get here in time...otherwise Santa will be coming late!

i hate knowing there is a cheaper option out there. If the store is close enough I will go out and save the money
