TL,DR: what's the youngest age your dr prescribed antibiotics, and what was the situation? LO2 is def sick but I don't know if bringing her to the dr would result in any actual treatment? And I don't want her picking up something worse when there...

Longer version: LO1, 25 month old, came down with a cough Fri night. Developed congestion, bad phlegmy cough, lack of appetite. Energy levels inconsiStent. No fever. Dr diagnosed double ear infection Wed morning and prescribed antibiotics. He has been seperate from the newborn over the weekend and physically out of the house since Monday morning (staying at in laws).

Husband came down with sickness on Monday and also went to "quarantine" at in laws. Same symptoms, but also fever, hot/cold spells, and nausea. Got rapid flu test and not flu, no ear infection either.

Both were doing much better yesterday and the plan was for them to come home today/Friday afternoon. I haven't seen either of them since Sunday night.

As of Wed night, I notice LO2, 2 wks old, had congested breathing, no other symptoms. I've been managing it somewhat with saline/sucker/steam. But the problem is whenever I put her on her back, even on an incline, she gets a hacking/sputtering cough, like she's choking. She's woken me every hour with these sounds. The congestion and cough almost disappears when she sleeps on her side (anywhere) or on her belly (on my chest) but you know that freaks me out due to sleep safety. When I put her in those positions in the daytime I feel like she loses some of her color and her breathing becomes almost undetectable. Again, no fever or breathing retractions though.

I'll most likely take her to the dr but I don't know if they'll be able to do anything for her?? I don't know. It's 3am here and I'm just a tired, worried mama.
