Although I took my belly button ring out a while ago, I still have the hole. As my belly is expanding, all my skin is stretching, including my pierced belly button. I'm having irrational fears that the holes are going to randomly rip open for no reason. Tell me that didn't happen to you, please.

No piercing for me, but my gf had one and hers ALMOST ripped. It got scary!

I took mine out about 8 years ago and those stinkin holes are still there! I sure hope they don't rip!!

I took mine out when I got pregnant and the holes are still there but never ripped at all.

I have the ugliest hole/scar/extra skin where my piercing used to be. -.- no ripping though!

My cousin had her daughter at age 21 and was reeeeeally tiny (like a 00, stayed small the whole time but with a belly) and didn't take her navel piercing out at all! It looked disgusting because the skin pulled around the piercing, but it didn't rip through or come close and everything shrunk back down after. I've always wondered if that was related to her being young and tiny (this was 11 yrs ago--I was 18 and fascinated!). I definitely don't think your holes will rip open...the skin stretches so slowly, ya know?

I took my ring out years ago, and the holes definitely stretched (and the skin in between the holes got really tender) but nothing ripped.

The fear of that happening is the number one reason I never got my belly button pierced! But, I do not actually know anyone who that happened to, I think it's just something people came up with to discourage teenagers from doing it

I took mine out when I was pregnnat with DD #1 (I was 17 when I had her) and never ripped or anything .

I have had mine out for like 10 years now and I scared what it is going to look like once my belly starts growing.

I had mine for over 10 years, and took it out when I got the positive test. I had been wanting it out for awhile so it was just the move I needed. I still have the hole/scar but it's becoming less noticiable.

Both of my holes look stretched out so far...no ripping or pain at this point (25 weeks). I didn't take the ring out until after I was already pregnant.

just stretched out a little, no ripping. I had mine in for a really long time. I had my sister help me take it out when I was about 12 weeks along. The scar is minimal. I have had my gallbladder out between pregnancies #1 and #2, used to be a nice little incision, not so much anymore

Oh yikes. I took mine out years ago but the holes are still there. I didnt even think of this. Glad to hear no one has really had major issues with it!

i took mine out after i found out i was pregnant. no tear. the hole just stretched as my belly grew. i was hoping it would close but nope... now i just have a hole.

Phew!! I'm always afraid that I'm going to itch my bellybutton and somehow rip the holes open - gross. Glad to hear that your leftover holes are still whole!

Mine has been out for at least 10 years, but I still have the lovely hole too... 35 weeks and it hasn't ripped, just more prominent.

Just wondering, did anyone leave their piercing in while pregnant?
I mean, do you have to take your belly button piercing out for any particular reason (well, I guess other than if your belly button pops out and it becomes uncomfortable)? I've had one of the barbell style rings in forever. I think I only switched it out once or twice in the 12 years I've had the piercing, and not taken it out for at least the past 7 years. I'm still wearing the one I had put in right after getting pierced, in fact.
I figure, it hasn't bugged me enough to take it out in 12 years, why take it out when I get pregnant if there's no reason to? I have a rather deep belly button, and my (not yet pregnant) stomach looks funny without it. Haha, maybe I'll just want to feel like holding onto my youth, even as a mama.

I took mine out when I got pregnant and it had been in for 10 years. My belly button didn't pop out, it just stretched so it is completely flat. There is no way I would have been able to leave it in. The top hole just looks weird and stretched out and I can't really see the bottom hole.

Mine had been out for 5 years but I definitely had a scar. It was very interesting to see how far the scar stretched out during my pregnancy. I don't think my piercing would have survived!!!

I'm 33 weeks with a huge belly and I've been all over the place with the piercing I didn't take it until about 19 weeks, then I had a red mark on the super stretched piercing skin, around 28 weeks it started to look infected, so I placed one of my tong piercing rings there because there were longer and kept cleaning it twice a day, I finally gave up and took the ring off today hoping for it not to close, it still look a little infected but it was hurting too bad when I touch it by accident. (it does not look like it will rip) my ears are having the same reaction now, so I think it's just my super sensitive skin =[

I left it out for the last month (and used the PTFE one from 5 months)... then left it out for several weeks pp and it almost closed up!! Oh no!
It's a little darker than it used to be (linea nigra passed through it!) so it looks a little "dirty" but that is fading. It is definitely looser than it was but it seems to be firming up well enough. I'm 12 weeks pp. -
I took my belly piercing out over 5 years ago but when I was preggo, my ever flattening belly button made the two scars very obvious. But don't worry - it never ripped open! Now at 6.5 months pp my belly button looks all stretched out (gross...) and the hole marks are very obvious.
