LO (almost 23 months) just started saying "I don't want to" for everything...eating, sharing, bathtime, swinging, sliding, naps, etc! I hate it!

@Kimberlybee: ugh, my stepkids are ALWAYS bored!
I hate "I don't care" too. I told them they weren't allowed to say it anymore so then they had to think about what they were really feeling when they "didn't care"

@cmomma17: "I don't care" is annoying too!
I can't really relate to being "bored" because I was never a bored kid. I loved quiet time for reading, drawing, and coloring! I fear that my nieces and nephews are losing their creativity. They are super sweet though, they wanted to really bond with my 6 mth old DD over the weekend (ages range 9-12) so their first instinct is to prop "share" the iPad in front of her and let her watch a baby YouTube channel. I had to repeatedly remind them to get the iPad away from her. I don't want her to be introduced to it just yet. I brought children books along to entertain her. I told the kids to read to my baby instead.

My 20 month old just says "NO WAY!" when she's cranky...which is often.
"will you put on your coat?"
"NO WAY!!!!"
"what about your boots?"
"NO WAY!!!!"
"do you want to go outside to play?"
"NO WAY!!!!"
and so on. It's cute the first 10 times, but gets old kinda fast!

DS1 will say "I want this one!" and point in a direction where there are a hundred things he could be asking for. It drives me insane because he knows the name of the thing he's asking for (like a banana, or some water, or his toy car, etc) but he just says "this one!" I think he's just being lazy.

@autumnlove: LOL! W just started saying "I don't want that" this weekend. I made the mistake of laughing the first time she did it, so she's saying it all the time.

At 13m old, E is in the phase of being an independent eater, even with things he doesn't know how to eat (like soup with a spoon or even salad). He wants to do it and it ends up either being a fight or a HUGE MESS everywhere with exactly zero food actually going into his mouth. He is also too hungry to allow me to attempt to teach him how to eat it the right way.
