So I am 13 weeks with our second and my genetic screening just came back normal so we're ready to tell our 2.5 yo that she's going to have a new sibling. We're thinking about getting a book about becoming a big sister, but I was wondering if others have suggestions for how to make the announcement and communicate that we both still love her and that even though things will change a little bit, the baby won't replace her. Idk if she'll get it right away but she loves babies so I hope will be excited by the news.

Hello! I was here back in 2016/2017 for my first DS, just found out we’re expecting baby 2 in August! I’m five weeks and extremely nauseous this round. I am also working full time in person in a school with preschoolers. I will be getting permission to work from home after break since we don’t know how COVID affects pregnancy and/or babes.

My question is: I vomited at work Thursday and the occupational therapist I work with (also friend, was my sons OT for EI) saw 🥴. She obviously knows and gowned up to take care of me, but I also needed to tell the nurse.

My mom doesn’t even know. If you’re pregnant, did you tell people earlier because of COVID?

I just got a BFP at 13 dpo after the third IUI!!! It took 3 IUIs with my first as well!!

Soooooo happy. This cycle was so weird. I had a BFN on 10 dpo so I thought I was out. Just decided to test today because I hadn't had any signs of AF yet. I wasnt expecting a positive.

Ahhhhhh I am just so happy!! Thanks everyone for the support. This fertility journey was a bit messier than my first, the pandemic made it tougher.

Now to just hope and pray this will be a healthy and uneventful pregnancy!

Ladies,
I just got that dreaded phone call that our NIPT came back "high risk" for Trisomy 21. By the lab estimate, they are saying 90% confidence, but my Nurse Geneticist said she ran my individual profile (age, multiparity, etc) through a calculator they use, and it's saying 60-70% chance it's real. I'm scheduled for a CVS on Tuesday at 10:15 am. We should get those results in 4 days. It's a little girl.

So hive, I'm hoping to hear your experiences, good and not so good, of going through this testing experience, how in the world you go through the process of making a decision, and how you feel after the dust has settled.

I appreciate any responses in advance.

I am 9w5d and we had first apt last week. Baby has healthy, strong heartbeat and all looks good. My husband and I are thinking about telling our kids (nearly 4 and 6) tonight but now second guessing - is that too early? I've not been feeling great and been wiped by the evenings and I feel like it would be easier to explain if we could tell them...plus we are just really excited to tell them, they are both so eager to have a baby in the family.

When did you tell your older kids? With my first, he was less than 2 so it didn't really matter as he didn't "get" it!

Ok, please bear with me....

In 2017, I was pregnant and after announcing to one of my sisters (she was newly married, several yes younger than me and just starting TTC), she went off the deep end and said some really hurtful and unforgettable things to me. Sadly I miscarried and after telling her that she attempted to console me but I just couldn’t let her get close. It was minimal reconciliation at best and since then we’ve been cordial but not close. Our relationship has always been temperament I guess.

Flash forward to present day...she did IVF and is now 13.5 weeks with twins. While I’m very happy for her, I also just found out I’m pregnant and am 12 weeks along.

So here’s where I am struggling....I still don’t think she will react to my news very well...just from our past and very docile relationship. I have never been able to do things to make her genuinely happy for me.
So she’s told family a few weeks ago and social media as of today and our plan was to share our news publicly and with family next weekend but I’m so hung up on her potential reaction that all of my joy is weighed down. What would you do? I hate drama...and I don’t feel like giving her special treatment is fair (I tried that in 2017 and it majorly backfired) but I really hate how I’m fearful of how she may react. Help!!!

This is my first pregnancy, so it’s all new to me. I’m looking for some advice and to hear what others have done:

I’m just over 14 weeks today and everything is looking good. We had an ultrasound last week, and so far baby looks healthy. That being said, we won’t get all of our test results for chromosomal issues back until the end of the month. My plan was to inform my boss about my pregnancy after that- when I’d be about 17-18 weeks along.

Today I just got thrown a curve ball. My supervisor called me into his office to discuss an upcoming project that begins in December. The project would really be a career making project and a great opportunity. However, it would require me to work in a town 3 hours away half of the week, every week for 16 months. I’m not planning on returning to work after baby (not telling work this yet!), but even if I were, this set up would be a no-go with a baby. I don’t think I could handle it either with being pregnant. My supervisor was very surprised when I told him I would need some time to think about it, and couldn’t commit at this time.

So, do I just turn down the project without giving my real reason, or do I announce my pregnancy earlier than I planned and then explain that’s the reason I can’t work on it? I really wanted to wait until I had the test results back, but I think I know now that I’m going to have to announce earlier than that. When have others announced? My supervisor needs an answer on the project in the next week.

Hi everyone,

I know a few ladies have been in the same boat as me, but I just wanted to share that based on nuchal translucency and blood work, there's a greater than 1 in 5 risk of my baby having trisomy 21. We are devastated by this news. I'm 14w1d and have a CVS scheduled for tomorrow. Depending on the position of the placenta, I'll be able to have the CVS or have to wait two weeks for an amnio. DH and I have already decided that if the results are positive we won't continue the pregnancy. This is the most agonizing decision I've ever made. I'm not exactly sure why I'm posting this, but reading other women's experiences has helped me and I'm hoping that sharing mine will do the same.

I have my first appointment (8 weeks) tomorrow, and we plan on making an announcement to our families soon after if everything goes well.

I am planning on purchasing small gifts for everyone—picture frame with ultrasound photo for our parents, and mugs with grandma or aunt, etc. for everyone.

Here is my question. My sister (who is 27) has a serious boyfriend. They have been dating for 5 years and just moved in together, but they are not engaged yet. I would like to include him, because I don’t want him to feel left out or for my sister to feel like we are snubbing him, but I feel like getting him a mug that says “Uncle sister’s BF” could be seen as pushy or too much.

Suggestions?? I am sure I am way over thinking this.

One of my friends announced her pregnancy to her inlaws and they were less than trilled. The inlaws told them my friends they thought they were too young to start having kids. :/ They had been married 2 years at this point.

How far along were you when you disclosed your pregnancy to your employer? I'm currently 8 weeks and not really showing yet, so I can wait. But when is the right time? When I start showing? With my last pregnancy my boss was very tactless and randomly asked me if I was pregnant because I had a bunch of doctor's appointments. So I disclosed before I was truly ready.

With my other 2 kids, we didn't do anything cute or clever and just was like "Hey guess what? We are having a baby!" This might very well be our last so I thought it would be fun to announce in a cute way/creative way.

I am super, super nervous about telling my dad. He is a huge worrier and will probably freak out. Everyone else will be happy and excited though. My in-laws are divorced and dad lives here and my mom lives out of town so we'll have to tell them all 4 separate times.

I thought I would formally introduce my sweet angel baby! This is Rock Thorin. Baby Rocky. He was born Sunday at 36.5 weeks. He weighed 3lbs 3oz and 15 delicious inches. He's so dang perfect, I couldn't be more pleased if I tried! After a weird pregnancy with him measuring behind and his arms and legs measuring 8-9 weeks behind, he was diagnosed before birth with achondroplasia, or dwarfism. So right now we're waiting for the genetic test results to determine what type since there are more than 200 types. Anyways he is in the nicu but he's doing great! He's almost weaned off his oxygen and they let me nurse him today and he latched right on :) now if I could only get my milk to come in. I don't know how long he will be in the nicu for. But he's delightful and just what our family needed. I can't wait for Zuma and Pirate to meet him :) Here's my sweet Rock:

I know this is legit crazy but hear me out...
DH and I are going to start TTC this spring. If I get pregnant the first cycle, I would POAS less than two weeks before his birthday. I would LOVE to tell him by getting a cake that says "Surprise! I'm pregnant" or " Thanks for knocking me up" or something on his birthday.

A little background: Ordinarily, I am not a big "reveal" person but my announcement with DS was really (like really really) lackluster because I had losses beforehand and wasnt exactly excited. Since I am hoping this would be my last pregnancy, I want to do something special.

I'm a little worried that my husband would figure it out/ and or be upset that I didn't tell him or maybe not. What do you think? Is this crazy?

We want to wait until my appt in 4 weeks (we've never announced before 12 weeks with our other 2) but I really have no idea how I'll hide such a huge bump for 4 more weeks.

We just found out we're expecting and wanted to wait before announcing. Today we were with another couple and my four year old yelled out let's buy something for the new baby! I tried to cover it up and said "sure, let's buy something for your baby doll!". She says "No! The baby in your belly!!!" and kept pointing to my belly. At that point I fessed up to our friends. We laughed about it but how do I prevent my 4 year old from spilling the beans again?? I did have a talk with her after and said let's keep the baby a secret between just us and daddy. She says ok but then later on yelled out in front of everyone "mommy, I won't talk about our secret!!!" Doh! :silly:

How and when did you announce to your other children that you were pregnant? I have a 3 year old, and am trying to decide when to tell him (probably just before we tell others, so he doesn't tell anyone before we're ready).

This question brought to you by my friend - she's 9 months pregnant and just announced on Facebook that she's pregnant. I thought, if you're going to wait that long, why not just wait till the baby is here? :)

How far along were you when you announced on social media (if you did)?

I'm looking for some long distance announcement ideas for parents/family. I was hoping to announce this pregnancy to our families on/around Valentine's Day, but we will be vacationing in FL, and everyone else will be home. I'm not sure if I want to try and mail something to them to arrive on Valentine's Day (flowers would be cool, but could be really expensive for 3 sets of parents), or just make phone calls. I feel like that would be boring lol. They will all have to be working during the day, so I know they wouldn't get anything til the evening. Has anyone done anything fun long distance?

Also: This is going to be our 2nd baby, we have a 3 year old already.

So I see my close famiy about twice a year, summer and Christmas! I'm really excited!

Anyway I'm 2 months pregnant and want to wait to tell then face to face this time round!
I don't know how much I'll be showing yet.
I'm going to pick up my brother and mother first at the airport and then lunch at mine! There will br champagne to celebrate so I have to tell them before because me not drinking is a dead giveaway!
My other brother and sister are arriving later in the week .

So how did you announce? Any cute ideas?

So we are getting family pictures done in 2 weeks. I'll be 7 weeks pregnant then with my second. We are planning to announce on FB to everyone around thanksgiving, and I thought since we are getting pictures done anyways, might as well have a nice one done to announce! Obviously we are telling close friends and family before then.

But does anyone have good ideas of cute ways to do this? Or any non-obnoxious props? I will have a 16.5 month old to incorporate!
