So, we are finally moving DD (3) to a toddler bed.

We need a new video monitor that can see the whole room.
I'd prefer not to have it connected to wifi, but I can't seem to find anything that works without it.

Recommendations?

Our video monitor (Philips Avent) has tons of static that seems to be getting worse and it’s driving me nuts! Anyone have a monitor they like? Ideally would be pretty long range so we can use in backyard and when we travel. Or-is there something I can do about the static? Thank you!!!

I'm on the hunt for a new monitor for both kiddos. We have a 3 year old and one on the way in a few weeks! We currently have a Motorola that is pretty much done for, it shuts off constantly and has to be plugged in always. It really only has close up views so we can't see the whole room of our toddler.

We want one with 2 cameras, that can be close up for new baby, and the other camera to be a wide range or angle so we can see all of our toddler's room in case he gets up in the MOTN.
We want the parent screen to shift between both monitors itself all night long so we can hear both kids. Or do a split screen somehow and hear both at the same time?

Would like to buy from Amazon since I get the 15% registry discount. I've been looking at the $100 price range but if there is a more expensive one that has EVERYTHING I'd be willing to splurge a little. Thanks in advance!

We recently purchased a Foscam to use as our primary baby monitor based on a lot of recommendations. I really liked the idea of using my cell phone, and not having to carry around a second screen. I realized pretty quickly that the app that comes with the Foscam isn't what we need! It just doesn't work like a true baby monitor. I know a lot of Bees use Foscams so I'm hoping for some tips!

Does anyone have any recommendations on an android app to use that makes the Foscam function like a traditional baby monitor? ie. Run in the background when I minimize the app, etc. DS is due in June and I want to make sure we have the 2 monitors set up and running properly before he arrives!!!

So, I feel like there have been some threads about this lately (and I searched and read old ones) but I'm still not quite sure what to do.

We have a Motorola video monitor with LO #1, who is 2.5. Baby #2 is arriving in May. They will have separate rooms (right next to each other). I want to keep using the monitor with LO #1 but also will need a video monitor for baby #2 (once he moves into his room - will be with us at first).

I know you can get a 2nd camera for the Motorola, but what I'm not clear on is how it works on the parent unit. Is it like a split screen? Or do you have to choose to go back and forth between views? How does the audio work? I am thinking about at night when we are asleep - normally I wake up if I hear the sound from the monitor, but if we have to "choose" to have sound from only one child at a time, it sort of defeats the purpose to me.

I have also thought about just buying a second separate video monitor for baby #2 and just having the parent units side by side so I can see and hear them both all the time (I think this is really my preference). But if I do this, will there be an issue with interference or the cameras "knowing" which parent monitor to link to because there are two parent monitors? (The rooms are very close together).

I can't find a lot of answers online or looking at Amazon reviews. I would love your first-hand knowledge. Thanks!

WE have the motorola MBP36 monitor (not the new one - 36S) and really like it but the parent unit has become increasingly more difficult to charge, I would have to twist the charger in various configurations to get a charge. However, I could always make it work but last night it up and quit! It will not charge at all and now it's dead which makes me very sad that I can't see LO :( I really feel like the problem is with the unit and not the cord, and a replacement cord isn't that cheap to try out ($12). Anyone have this issue?

I thought about getting a new monitor and then at least having our camera to use for future LO2, but the old cameras are of course not compatible with the new units. Bah. And amazon reviews show that the new version has charging issues too.

Any video baby monitor recs?? I want it to be able to pan, have a parent unit with constant audio (so while I love our dropcams, they won't work), and show temp.

I need a recommendation for a baby monitor that can be used in a multi-story house.

I'm going to PA to visit family soon and the houses we will be at are two story homes with basements. I think baby will be sleeping on the second floor while we visit with family in the basement during the evening. Is there a baby monitor that anyone here uses in such a situation? I don't want it to be a wifi dependent monitor, but I do want video. (I have the nest monitor at home and love it, but want something that's easier to tote around.) I worry about the monitor not working through the multiple floors.

Thank you for your recommendations!

My kids have always shared a room and we always had a camera in there for LO1. We weren't as paranoid with LO2, so we didn't use a monitor regularly for him as he got out of the baby stage. He's a bit over two now and we haven't used a monitor for him for some months. It's still in his room, but we just don't turn it on anymore.

We have loved our levana astra monitor for DD1 (2.5). The best part is the vox or peep mode where the screen stays black and the sound stays off until there is noise above a certain volume in her room.

DD2 is due in 6 weeks.

Is it possible to replicate the vox/peep with one monitor and 2 cameras, or will we be forced to either choose a room for peep mode or have the cameras scan each room?

My son will be moving to a big boy room shortly in preparation for the arrival of his little brother/sister. We plan on using the sound-only monitor that we already have for the new baby, but I'd like to have a monitor for him as well. I'm inclined to a video monitor since he'll be in a bed and have full freedom to move around in his room. Also I want to be able to hear if he's crying out, of course.

Anybody have any specific model suggestions or other tips? I'd like something that spans the whole room which seems different than when you have a baby in a crib and just need to focus one spot. We'd probably just get a wifi camera except I want the sound alert too. Or maybe you have a better suggestion?

ETA - DS will be almost 2.5 when moving to his toddler room.

Something with decent night vision, large screen, pan/tilt/zoom, and preferably a temperature reading (our house is very inconsistent with heat/cold temperatures).

I want to get a video monitor before baby comes and there are just so many options and some of them are so crazy expensive... trying to figure out what's necessary/useful in a monitor and what isn't. Really don't want to spend a ridiculous amount, but want to make sure it works well. It seems almost every one I see on Amazon, Best Buy, BRU etc. has bad reviews... so which ones are good? I'm not interested in wifi so can take that out of the equation.

We currently have the infant optics dxr5. I've never loved it but it's been fine enough until now. The picture is totally light and we have to turn it on and off multiple times to get it back to normal. We're thinking about getting a new monitor.

Here are my must have features:
Remote pan/tilt/zoom
Temperature gauge
Option for adding additional cameras

The only monitor I can find that has all of these is the dxr8. But I'm sort of hesitant to buy from the same company again. I'm interested in the levana keera but it doesn't have a temp gauge.

Does your monitor have all those features? Please make recommendations!

So it looks like we'll be replacing our video monitor most likely. And it looks like the newer model (Motorola 36S) has some of the same issues so we want a different brand. What are your favorites and why?

Things we're looking for:
- not wifi dependent
- portable parent monitor (so not iphone)
- able to get extra cameras for future LOs
- camera can pan
- shows temp in room

This is what I'm looking at (although crying inside for sinking the $ right now, especially when we haven't even quite started TTC for LO2) Summer Infant Dual View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EU5AL8W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1F3VSFNQ56MXY&coliid=I136DIG1YNQGP3&psc=1

Can someone educate me on the Foscam? Our baby monitor died last night and this seems like a great option.

Does it have an app that can be accessed by 2 iphones?

Does the app stay on or go to sleep throughout the night?

I need help!!

We used to have a video monitor, and it broke on us so we just replaced it with a basic audio monitor. Honestly I don't think it is even plugged in. She's only a few doors down, and I can hear her immediately through the night, it's not necessary.

Anyone skip the monitor or realize it wasn't as necessary as you thought?

If you have a wifi video monitor that can be viewed from your iPhone, what do you like and dislike about it? What type do you have? (Specific recs and links are great!).

Questions I'm thinking about so far:
Can it be used with two cameras easily?
Is there a separate receiver, or only the iPhone or whatever device you use?
Is it annoying to have it on your iPhone- draining the battery, using other apps, etc.
picture only or sound and picture?
Can you pan/ move the camera remotely?
Does it interfere with other wifi devices? Our current basic video monitor cuts out all the time for no reason which is part of the reason we are getting a new one.
Range? Currently we are in a small condo but will be moving in the near future, who knows how far apart the bedrooms will be.

I'm ready to kill Dh over this so I'm just going to do the stupid research myself to at least figure out what I really want it to have or not.
