I’m 4 months postpartum with my second and still have a significant belly and more weight than at any other time in my life. I’m ok with my body, but looking to be a bit more covered this summer. I’m super tall (5’11” with a long torso) and have never found a one piece bathing suit that fits, so I’m hoping to find 1 or 2 stylish tankinis for the summer. I did some googling but so many places seem to be selling tankinis for 50-something women who haven’t updated their style since the early 90s. Where do people shop for modern, more covered up swimsuits?

I know about summersalt but they only sell 1 tankini in black or navy blue, which is sad compared to all their other offerings. Has anyone ever bought anything from Albion Fit? They do a lot of not quite tankinis, but I’m not sure about random websites.

Well, I pretty much always need fashion advice, but I'm starting to feel overwhelmed about a surprise photo shoot we've planned for my parents, when they (my mom and dad) travel with our family (me, DH, DS9, DS6, DD2) to Costa Rica this March. So far they do not know about the photo shoot. I think they'll be really thrilled, but it makes outfit planning hard. So:

1. When do you think we should tell them? If not until we're on the trip, should I try to choose clothes I think they'd like that "go" with the family's outfits? I don't want to be matchy-matchy, but my dad's a t-shirts or plaid kinda guy, so I'm just not sure what we'd end up with if we don't do any planning.

2. Help! I don't know what any of us should wear. We don't live anywhere near a beach, and today it was like 15 degrees, so I'm having a hard time visualizing. I truly don't think I have anything appropriate, so I'll likely need to purchase something. DH might have a neutral enough polo shirt, but I'm absolutely open to purchasing for anyone. I do have a dress I love for DD, and I'm kind of pulling inspiration from that, but I'm also not committed--if something works better for her, that's totally fine.

Thoughts? Advice? Direct links to the perfect dress? (I'm a pretty plain Jane dresser, so anything too far outside comfortable/casual will likely make me feel uncomfortable.)

Thanks!

Anyone do this or have a recommendation?

My dress is 12+ years old, never had it cleaned. My daughter (who is almost 10) tried it on for fun at my mom’s house (it’s been in a closet there) and it’s really in good shape except for some stains near the bottom and I’d like to get it cleaned. But my mom lives in a smaller town (across the country from us) so not sure about doing it locally. Any thoughts appreciated!

We have a family photoshoot scheduled for later this month for baby's 1st birthday (which I can't even believe it! That's another thread all together...)

The setting will be fairly urban and we live in the northeast where it may be sunny or it may be gray and cold.

I have a dark denim overall for LO, not sure how to style it, and then what to coordinate for 8 year-old brother, mom, and dad. I'm potentially open to plaid flannel, but don't want that to be the dominant look, if that makes sense? Anyway I'm hopeless at fashion, have any of you bees have come across any great clothes or ideas recently that you can share? Thank you!

PS I was thinking of getting a little felt crown for the birthday boy to wear in some of the pictures, is that weird?

I got the HSI that has a ton of great reviews on amazon and "best of" pages, but I'm not impressed with it at all.

My hair seems so damaged and tangly and dry right now, probably due to not enough trims and too much dry shampoo during covid! But it’s also fairly fine, and thinner since my last baby, so I’m always afraid to use anything too heavy.

I have some pull on boots from North Face that are super warm and comfortable but it's a work out just to get them on. The only thing is.....I hate shoes/boots that lace up. I know, I know, that would make things easier but there has to be something out there, right?

(I'm trying to distract myself from Tuesday's election, so I'm shooting for the fluffiest post I can manage).

My mother wants to buy me an outfit of my choice. Shoes, top, pants. I would normally go out shopping, but am staying in. Buying on-line is not my favorite because I don't know how things will fit, but I want to give it a shot.

I dress fairly plainly. Mostly I SAH (well, I work on-line in my PJs as well, but in terms of clothing, I don't have a job to dress for). I love sweaters, but also have an abundance of them. I like to wear boots, but I have two solid pairs--they're high, though, and I'd be interested in a pair of shorter boots if I knew what to wear them with.

So, mostly I'm looking for people to tell me their favorites--brands, individual items, why you like them? I'd love to have a better start than typing "women's tops" into google.

Thanks!

I do mostly strength training outside so I want something breathable and cropped (19" would be ideal). I know everyone loves Lulu wunder unders but they are too thick/tight for me. I just ordered the CRZ yoga "naked feeling" style form Amazon and the high waist was soooo tight. Other options? Preferably reasonably priced and available via amazon?

My favorite monogram necklace snapped in the middle of the chain. It is not a charm/pendant, but is rather “built in” to the middle of the chain with a solid loop on either end of the chain. I think I just need to replace the chain itself, but don’t know what to call it so I’m coming up blank on Amazon searches. Anyone know? Am i missing some other way to repair it?

While it’s nice and one of my very favorite pieces, it’s costume (gold plated), so I’d rather avoid a trip to the jeweler to have it fixed.

I used to wear GAP SUPER SKINNY mid-rise leggings jeans, but (a) I don’t see them online anymore and (b) whether it’s because they’re worn out or I need a different size or whatever, my current pairs aren’t staying up (sagging in the waist and butt) even with more frequent washing/drying.

Hi all! I feel like since I’ve had kids, I’ve really dropped my game on updating my clothes and shoes. My loungewear game is strong though :)

As such, my athletic shoes are basically dead and not comfortable any longer. Any recs on athletic shoes mainly used for walking/jogging and some low key hikes? I’m okay with spending more on a great shoe that can handle some wear and tear.

Same Q, but direct toward flats. I tend to wear pointy toe flats to work (I’ve given up on heels these days but I want to look polished.) Any recs on work (and “going out”) appropriate flats that can handle wear and tear and still provide decent foot and arch support? I love my All Birds but they are too casual for work, and I love my Rothys but if I walk too much in those, my lower back gets sore, likely from lack of support. Also okay to spend a bit more on nicer, long lasting shoes but wouldn’t mind a “cheap” option to consider as well.

Thanks!

I have been wearing more economical ballet flats (Amazon brand or Lucky) and am looking for something a little more "dressy." They need to be comfortable and supportive since I am on my feet a lot as a teacher. Any suggestions?
