PSA Primary coats are $22.50 right now 🙌🏼 Anyone have one? How do they compare to the Gap Prima loft kids coats? Hoping that it is thin/squishy enough to be car seat safe?

So I have put my kids in snowpants with bibs the last few years..... when did you move away from snowpants with bibs?

I like knowing that they aren't getting snow down their pants or up their back - but will completely acknowledge how going potty stinks in these kind of snow pants.

When I try to think about being a kid - I think I wore bibbed snow pants well into childhood.....

I'm asking because I decided to go big/go home and buy a one kid road coat for each kid and get a pair of snow pants for free - I can't decide what size to order knowing I certainly won't use them this year....

(PS - our winter activities include sledding and playing in our yard - not skiing or anything intense...)

We live in MT and have frigid, windy winters. We already have several inches of snow (not happy about that). Previously my kids have worn the Snozu coats from Costco and we’ve been really happy with them, but DS1 has unfortunately outgrown their sizing. Can anyone recommend an affordable, super warm winter coat? Anyone have any experience with Costco’s Gerry youth systems coat? TIA!

Anyone find any good winter coats for toddlers this year?

I usually buy from carters....but I'm not loving the boy designs this year --- except for the one I ordered earlier this week then they cancelled the order on me (I guess maybe it was a last year design that they ran out of???)

I'm looking on different websites but not super in love with anything.

We play outside in the snow (NJ weather) and general cold....but don't go skiing or anything.

Anyone have recommendations on a little kid rain coat? We live in Florida and are in the thick of hot steamy rainy days. LO (girl, age 6, size 5) has asked for a rain coat but I’m not sure where to start.
I’d love it to actually keep her mostly dry - umbrellas are annoying and there’s an infant car seat to wrangle in the rain as well as get her around. But I’m worried about her getting too hot and sweaty.
Anyone have something that’s worked for you? Bonus if it’s less than $40 but I’m flexible if it’s good quality. Thanks!

Any good suggestions for a size 18month or 24 month sized winter coat? I pick up LOs while they are playing outside typically. I'd LOVE for the jacket they are wearing on the playground to stay on and then just bring to our car and buckle up (Rather than take off their school jacket and put on a car seat friendly jacket.). So I'm looking for something warm enough to play outside in 40 degree weather - but safe to wear in a car seat. Ideally not mega expensive either. So far, I keep finding jackets that are $100 which I think is too much for a jacket that is being worn for one season (I spend that much for a jacket I wear for 5+ years.)

Help! I am so overwhelmed!

Has anyone seen these in real life? I know they have typically been pretty thin/packable, but the picture online they look really bulky? I'd go check them out myself, but the closest Costco is 300 miles away :crying: Also, anyone know how the sizing runs in the Gerry 3-in-1 they have? I need a 4, but an Xsmall is a 5/6. Thank you!!

Has anyone seen any good deals recently on something warm but carseat friendly like a Patagonia down sweater/North Face Perrito or Mossbud jacket? Looking for a little girls' size 5 or 6 in a solid color that my 5 year old deems pretty... :) Open to REI brand, Columbia, etc. if you've seen these, too! :)

What did your early walker wear for playing in the snow? My almost one year old is about to walk and we live in New England, so we will get snow. I know we will be outside playing with her big sister. So I want some that will keep her comfortable and she will be able to move in, but don't want to break the bank on something that will get minimal use.

What worked best? One piece or two? Footwear? She will be a really new walker so I think any real boots would be impossible. Maybe those waterproof booties that go over shoes?

This is our first winter in the suburbs when we are actually driving a lot, so suddenly all this winter coat warnings and advice are relevant! My 3.5 year old needs all new winter gear. Her preschool goes out in the playground every day unless it's raining or below 25 degrees. I pick her up directly from the playground.

So two questions really- is there a winter coat that would be warm enough to play outside in the snow in, but also thin enough to wear in the car? She has a warm fleece that's her usual car coat but it's not warm enough for playground play. Preferably one that doesn't cost a million dollars...

And, given that I pick her up straight from the playground (which is really convenient in terms of not having to take my younger one out of the car at all since it's right next to the parking lot!) I can't put her in the car with her snow pants still on, right? I need to remove boots and coat and snow pants just to buckle her in?

Just popping her in the stroller last winter was so much easier! Oh and we are in New England. So, it gets cold and they are predicting a lot of snow. But when it's super bitter cold we just won't go out much.

I'm looking for something like the Patagonia down sweaters for the kiddos, but I just can't afford Patagonia prices. Ideally I'd like something warm but not bulky. They have big bulky coats but as new walkers they have a hard time moving around in them. Any ideas? We'd need something that comes in 12-18 month size, not just 2T.

My 3 year old has been increasingly refusing to wear coats that have hoods. I've been trying to find a coat that is warm enough for winter (or at least down to say 30 deg) that either has no hood or has a removable one. Anyone have any recommendations? It seems they are hard to find!

I see the Patagonia down sweater but not sure I want to spend that much. I also see that H&M has a bunch...anyone have experience with H&M kids outerwear?

I live in Minnesota where it's really cold in Jan/Feb. Windchills are often in the negatives. So I need a warm coat for LO. He spends nearly every weekend playing outside with DH, and also often walks to daycare (half a mile) so we need something warm for sure.

So I have it narrowed down to these two coats for LO: the expedition parka or the stormer 3-in-1.

[attach=1597/15/ny8aak.436x557.Screen-Shot-2015-11-22-at-12.02.53-PM.png]
https://www.landsend.com/pp/StylePage-456888_A7.html
The parka is good for temps up to -15 F to 20 F. It's waterproof, windproof, and the reviews are great (several from MN/other northern states stating it's plenty warm).

[attach=1597/15/ny8aal.445x541.Screen-Shot-2015-11-22-at-12.02.40-PM.png]
https://www.landsend.com/pp/StylePage-456920_A7.html
The stormer is good for temps of -5 to 25 F. It's a 3-in-1, so it has a removable fleece. It's water resistant and wind resistant, not proof. This coat is appealing to me because of the carseat situation, he can wear the fleece in the car, and then just add the insulated shell over it when he gets out. With the parka, he'd need a separate fleece or something else.

Has anyone had experience with either? what would you choose? The parka is $25 more than the stormer.

How warm is this coat? The rating is warmest yet the temp range given is -15/25F. I'm not sure how accurate their temp rating is?
This will be the play in snow and walk around outside in nyc coat. We live upstate where winter is October to April and temps are almost always in the teens, so she needs something really warm!

Also, how do they fit? She's most in 4T tops and the Patagonia 4T was big enough to last 2 seasons. I'm looking for the same here. Looking at the little girls S(4). Thanks!

I really want this one for her: http://www.landsend.com/products/girls-expedition-parka/id_289932?sku_0=::VUK
But even with 25% off that's more than I want to spend on a coat! But the 3-1 might be nice to use the shell with the Patagonia on a daily basis for the car? Taking the shell off in the car.

I'm thinking of ordering Columbia fleece for the girls but do they run true to size? My 3 year old is wearing a 2T fleece (Champion, from Target) from last year and it's pretty beat up now. but it does fit..just difficult for her to get off. it seems to run large.

LO is 2.5 and a 2T and I need to get a cold weather (32-45 degrees, maybe a bit colder) non-puffy jacket for her to move her between house, car, daycare and back, maybe a little bit of time outside when it's not completely freezing. Last year we bought her a thick Champion fleece at Target that we liked and used all winter, but this year the ones Target has feel flimsy. My husband is advocating for a North Face fleece but I'm loath to spend $80 on a one season jacket. Do you have any other favorites you'd recommend for this kind of weather?

Just what the title says. We need to get DD a winter jacket...it doesn't get all that cold here (usually in the 40s-50s, occasionally a little cooler) but it always feels damp and clammy even when it's not raining. I've been considering a Patagonia down sweater but I'm not sure whether it would be too warm, not warm enough, and/or okay in drizzle. And I'd love not to spend that much $$. If you live in the area (or a similar climate), what have you found to work well?

I never know whether or not to put a heavy coat on my son in the morning. This morning I took a chance and just put a hoodie, and it turned out ok... but other days when I try the same, we have to head back into our apartment to get a coat!

Is there a rule of thumb for when to put your kids in a heavier coat or jacket? Like say, anything below 70 degrees = a coat...

For those of you whose LO's wear the Patagonia Down Sweater coats...is this their warmest coat, or do they have something else for outdoor play? I'm trying to decide if my 17 month old is all set, or if she should have something thicker/more waterproof for the worst days. She does have a snowsuit from REI, but it's a similar thickness to the down sweater. Big sister has another longer down puffer for the most brutal days, so I'm thinking maybe my 17 month old needs this kind of coat, too....advice welcomed! We are still new to this whole winter weather thing! :)
