Hello, I need a bit of help on what we should get. Im due with our first baby in april.

We need something for the baby to sleep in by our bed for the first few months.

We do some traveling in the summer for the weekends. I'm not sure how much we will this year but we will need something for the baby to sleep in, that we can pack in the car.

We have to travel by plane in September for a wedding. It might be best to use the hotels supplies but I thought I'd mention it.

What is our best option? Any particular brands?

I’m due with my 1st baby in 3 weeks and a friend loaned us her arms Reach Co-sleeper that she used for her 2 kids and was also used by at least one other person. My guess is it’s like 5 years old. It was in her garage for a few months and then she gave it to me. We washed the fabric liner and sheets but I’m feeling weird about it now. The mattress seems lumpy and I feel like I’m going to be nervous using it. So my questions, I guess, are:

-Would you use a used bassinet?
-Do you know how the mattress is supposed to sit in the Arms Reach, specifically? It feels like it has a bump/air bubble in the middle, maybe from the folds?

Thank you!!!!

Anyone use an in bed co-sleeper that they loved for the first few weeks? I do not want to spend a ton of money because I intend to only use it for the first 6 weeks or so, but want something safe and comfortable. I used a bassinet with my first and hated having to get out of bed to lift him out every 2 hours.

We have a king sized bed, so size is not an issue. I am eyeing this one on Amazon:

Hey everyone!! I have an almost 6 month old (10/11/17 he'll be 6 mo) and it seems that his sleeping through the night has completely stopped! He slept so well through the night up until now! He's fed, bathed and nursed then put to bed by 8:00 p.m., wakes up anywhere between 12-1 and from then on, he is up every 20 to 30 minutes. Also, after he wakes up at 12-1, he just wants to be up! I just added cereal to his breakfast and he has avo/BM at night. Next week I plan to add sweet potato or some veggie for his lunch. I don't know what Im doing it feels like.
Also, is it time to transition him to his crib? Im having trouble accepting this as he's been sleeping next to me since we came home from the hospital.
Someone heeelllppp!!!!!

My DD is 2 and she is constantly wiggling around her crib at night. I don't think she's ready to move to a big bed yet, but we'll need her crib by christmas for DD2.

Do toddlers outgrow this wild sleeping or is it an individual thing? If you toddler was a wiggler in their sleep, did it stop in a big bed?

LO has been sleeping in the Rock 'N Play which we used for reflux. He's now 15 weeks and I know we're creeping up to the point where he's going to be too big and needs to sleep in the crib. He's had a couple very short naps in the crib before and spends some time in there but has yet to really sleep well in it. I just tried putting him down for a nap in the crib and he freeeeaked out. He looked terrified and I could tell he was startled from not having that coziness around him, like he felt like he was falling :( I persisted for about 30 mins with lots of screaming and crying and then finally gave up and put him in the RNP because he was way overtired at that point and just needed to sleep. Argh!

For those who've successfully made the transition, how did you do it? Any special tricks, or just kept trying? And how old was LO when you did it? I knew this was a possibility but now I just wish he could sleep in that darn thing forever.

The Fisher Price rock n play is finally available in Canada! (it was previously unavailable as we have super strict(sometimes ridiculous) laws about safety and apparently they can cause flat heads/torticollis if used too much or something along the lines of that)I have read countless blogs where mamas sing the praises of this thing for nighttime sleep. I was so excited to see I can finally purchase one! I'm desperate-my 5 week old DOES NOT sleep flat for longer than 30 minutes, so I spend most of the night awake-sleeping with her on my chest. She has a bit of reflux, and is currently a bit stuffed up with a cold, so I know that is part of the problem, but it has been like this since day one. We have done some chiropractic adjustments, which have helped. The first time we went she slept 3 hours that night! It was a miracle. Then, she got sick and we are back to square one. Her pack n play mattress is elevated. She sleeps great in her mamaroo during the day. I have read that the transition to the crib after the rock n play can be difficult. At this point I'm willing to take that. I really need her to sleep on her own in between feedings for a least SOME of the night. Looking for opinions/advice! Anyone care to share their experiences? I seriously want to go pick up one tomorrow if there's even a small chance it could help us for awhile. My 3 year old wouldn't sleep in her bassinet around this age, but she would sleep in bed with me, so we co-slept until she was about 8 weeks old. My baby won't even do this for very long. Thanks in advance from a mama who would really like even an hour of sleep without baby attached to me. (I should add-my husband is on paternity leave with me until January, so I get 2 naps in to make up for the no sleep at night!)

Does anyone have a Halo bassinet? Would you recommend it? Or if you thought about getting one and decided against it, why?

When lo1 was a newborn, our master bedroom was too small to really share so we moved to her to her crib after just 1 month. Before that she slept in the UB stroller bassinet, which wasn't really ideal...This time around, we moved and our master bedroom is much bigger, and lo1 and lo2 will be sharing a room eventually but I think we'll keep lo2 in our room with us much longer. The Halo bassinet looks really nice...But I'm wondering if it's worth it!

I'm looking at these 2 mattresses and trying to decide between:
Safety 1st Peaceful Lullabies https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004044L98
Safety 1st Grow With Me 2-in-1
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004049LT8

The Peaceful Lullabies version is more expensive due to being filled with cotton and wool and having a bamboo cover. The other is less natural materials but still non-toxic, free of PVC/phthalates.

They both have the removable cover for washing. But it seems like many people add waterproof mattress protectors (not necessarily with these mattresses, just what I've noticed in general).... is that still necessary with mattresses that already have a cover? Did you buy a separate protector to put around yours? Because I'm thinking in that case, if I did that, what does it matter what cover is beneath the cover I put on top (i.e. why wouldn't I just buy the cheaper one since I'm covering it up anyway?).

LO2 is due in a couple months and we're finally starting to get his nursery and stuff ready.

LO1 slept in a Rock n Play beside our bed and napped in a swing. We had a miserable time transitioning her to her crib, so we are hoping to get LO2 used to sleeping on a flat surface earlier. Both our RnP and swing were ruined in a flood anyway, so all we have is the Pack and Play and I'm trying to figure out if we need to get anything else.

DH thinks LO2 can just sleep in the PnP (with a better mattress) in our room. I worry that it will be too big for a newborn and awkward for me to reach him in the MOTN. Our PnP doesn't have a newborn bassinet thingey. LO1 hated the PnP as a newborn, but we had other stuff for her to sleep in and didn't try too hard.

I am eyeing either a Halo bassinet or an Arm's Reach co-sleeper, but DH thinks it's unnecessary. Then again, he's not the one who will be BFing in the middle of the night.

What would you guys recommend? Worth it to get a bassinet or co-sleeper? Or wait and see how he does in the PnP?

I feel like I should know this stuff by now!

So...DD is 6.5 Months. She is great with head control and just started rolling like crazy. When I went back to work around 4 mos I started giving her formula before bed and got some nice stretches of sleep out of her. Nothing has been consistent though.

Heres where we are. Current schedule is 2-3-4 on weekends....weekdays are hard because he naps at daycare are few and short (just too much noise I think). She is generally happy thought. 9:30am Bottle (5oz); Noon Cereal and Fruit/Veg; 2:30pm bottle (5oz); 4:30 Cereal Veg/Fruit; 7-8pm bottle (formula - she takes sometimes 4oz sometimes 7oz). The morning is unpredictable. Sometimes she nurses at 5am, sometimes at 7am. Her weight gain has been good (7lbs3oz at birth; 16lbs 1oz at 6mos).

She likes to sleep on her side and back. She occasionally will get on to her tummy and be ok but usually she does not like it. Right now - the main reason I have to go into her room is a lost binky. She cant quite find it - she can put it in if she does find it. We leave three in the crib just in case! ;)

This weekend she started rolling like a mad woman - and therefore is not bumping all over her crib and waking herself up. Last night this went on from midnight until 4am. At 4am I finally swaddled her (she is in a halo - I usually just wrap her tummy, no arms) and she passed right out.

Question is...do I put the bumpers back in her crib (I removed them when she started to "move around" in her crib) to prevent the bumping/waking up. Or do I swaddle her arms. Or do I do nothing? There are no-no's to all situations....I'm feeling at a loss...

I was planning to use the PNP for the baby to sleep in our room at the beginning. I measured that I could put it next to me beside the bed, however because the bedroom is narrow it would be right up against the wall and the bed, i.e. no gap of space on either side. Would that make it unsafe since the mesh sides would be blocked? Is there supposed to be open air at the sides or is it fine to have it like that? I tried searching online and couldn't find anything. But I'm also thinking a traditional bassinet is closed on the sides without the mesh... so maybe it's fine?

Any idea?? Don't want to end up buying it if it won't work!

With my LO, we used a Rock n Play and a swing for her sleep until 12 weeks, and then when we tried to transition to the crib (and out of the swaddle), it all went to hell. The 4 month sleep regression hit soon after and basically we ended up experiencing the worst 2 months of sleep deprivation I could ever have imagined, right when I was transitioning back to work.

I'm determined to try not to repeat my mistakes, so I'm thinking that with LO2, I may try to get him to sleep on a flat surface sooner. My co-worker was describing how they used a Pack and Play from the beginning (no RnP, no swing) and their baby was sleeping through the night at 3 months (mine didn't STTN until 10 months, even after sleep training). Then again, every baby is different, so who knows if their gear had anything to do with it.

Anyway, just curious if anyone switched gear between LOs if they had a rough experience with the first one and how it ended up going. We actually lost both our RnP and swing in a basement flood last year, so we need to buy new gear regardless. I am just not sure what to replace them with, and if it will even make a difference in the end.

I'm purchasing a 2nd hand Graco Stanton crib that we will be using while we live with my parents for 6 weeks. then we're hoping to convert it to a full bed when we transition to a big girl bed in the next 6 months. from what I can tell the crib back becomes the head board and there is no foot board. I'm pretty sure this style crib is discontinued, but has anyone successfully converted this to a full? I emailed graco and I'm waiting for a response. My parents have a full bed frame, I'm wondering if that might work.

DS1 slept in an Arm's Reach cosleeper for the first couple of months. He did very well in it and transitioned to his crib easily.

I was planning on doing the same with DS2, but our cosleeper broke! Now I'm trying to decide if/what to get for the new baby. We have a pack n play with a newborn napper that we could use. Any recommendations?

When your LO outgrew the crib, and you were sure you were done having kids, what did you do with the crib? Sell it? Hand it down? Moving LO to a twin bed next weekend and debating what to do with her crib...I will be sad to see it go!

LO has been sleeping in a Rock 'N Play for 2 months now (he's 3 months currently). For the first month I could not get him to sleep in a crib so we tried the Rock 'N Play with the auto rock feature and it's been a lifesaver. LO consistently sleeps in a 8 hour stretch each night.

He's growing so quickly I think I'll have to start pretty soon. I'm nervous to transition him, as he's been sleeping so good in his Rock 'N Play so I have a feeling it's going to be rough.

Any advice when I should start and how I should go about transitioning him? I'm wondering if maybe I should start with turning the auto rock feature off? It currently rocks for 6 hours straight each night.

Babies are rolling over and are not sitting up yet. So I think I have some time.

I got a 2nd hand PB arms reach co-sleeper from a friend and it looks like it's been discontinued-- does anyone know if the bedding that fits the "regular" non PB version still works for that one? I have one set but would like a 2nd set for ease!

Google has been failing me-- so I'm hoping there's someone here who has it since PB is pretty popular here!

So this morning, I went to get LO out of his crib and he managed to get so excited that he flipped himself up and over the crib rail. Luckily, I was right there and I caught him. It took us both by surprise. He is 18 months but super tall (35 inches) and sleeps in a zipadeezip so his hands are covered. I'm worried that he is going to now realize he can climb/flip his way out. He has absolutely no fear so this might be his new party trick.... Is it time to convert to a toddler bed? I was reallllly hoping to keep him in his crib for forever//a lot longer...

Do you remember when your LO outgrew the RNP for sleep (not just hanging out in during the day)? What about a bassinet?

DD2 (8 weeks) currently sleeps well in the RnP. She's in our room and will be until she's ready to share with big sister. We will move at some point in the coming months, too (and then they won't share) so I'm trying to think ahead if we can get by with what we have or if we need another solution before moving.

When you were completely done with the crib, what did you do with it? Hand it down to someone? Sell it? I think I'm going to have a really hard time getting rid of the crib for some reason...I really hope we can at least pass it on to someone we know...I guess selling for a little money wouldn't hurt but it's just one of those things....I was ok with most other baby gear, but I feel more attached to their bed. Maybe because it's like a reality that they are really growing up once the crib goes...

My 6 month old is starting to flip over in her crib and she is getting her legs caught in the crib slats when she starts rolling around - with or without her sleep sack on. I know that crib bumpers are not considered safe, but how have you handled this? It's ruining her naps and also scares her when it happens. :(
