Hey December mamas!

We just got the OK at LOs 4 month check up to start cereal. I ended up grinding up some oatmeal and he loved it!

Curious if anyone else started cereal/food and how it is going?

I'm so excited that I'll get to have a fun costume that incorporates my big belly this year :) LO is a big sesame street fan. She loves Abby and Elmo the most, so she and DH will be Abby and Elmo. I'm going to be cookie monster.

Now that DD2 is a month old, the drudgery of newborn care has become REAL. Anyone else feel this way?

Oh sure I still have those magic moments when I stare at her while she's sleeping, or feel her warm head underneath my chin when I'm holding her over my shoulder, but I am more than tired...I'm worn out by the tedium of baby care. As a STM none of this should be a surprise, but yet it is.

My water broke at 8:30 last night and she was born at 3:15am! 6 pounds 9 ounces, 16 inches long. I was 37+3 so it wasn't really expected yet, but there it is. I was going to post a birth-in-progress thread but the progress was just too quick! Will write more later...

Our son should make his appearance sometime in mid to late December, a bit more than a week before Christmas. Due to deaths on both sides of our family, our family's holiday plans, which have been the same for years and years, are very much up in the air.

How young is too young to bring a baby to a family holiday dinner? Other than doctor appointments, this would probably be his first time out of the house, too! I was thinking it would probably be easier to just skip the holiday plans at other people's houses all together, and just ask family to stop by for an hour to visit, if they wanted to, on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve (most folks live close enough that this is no problem).

Oh, and neither my husband and I really want to go to these holiday plans anyway.

What are you all planning for the holidays with a newborn, or what did you do the first year?

Some of the other December mamas have expressed an interest of having different threads with different topics to help keep everyone in the loop. I know that it can be very hard to go through pages of a thread and feel like you get to know everyone. This one will be for our appointments.

I have my first prenatal appointment/ultrasound on May 17th. I'll be 9 wks on the dot. I'm very excited, but very nervous as well! I will be (hopefully) giving birth in a birth center at the local University with a Certified Nurse Midwife. It's a very low intervention program and will hopefully be doing it it drug-free! I'll post a pic of the ultrasound and a recap of the appointment after it happens!

Can't wait to hear what is going on with the rest of you ladies!

Any of you gals decided to not find out gender?

This is bebe #2 for us, and I could not wait to find out with our first baby. I really wanted a girl- to indulge myself in all things girly- and she was! This time I really want to be surprised, husband is totally on board with it. I have no gender preference, a girl would be nice, since we have all the clothes. But a boy would be so sweet too, since there are no little boys on my husbands side of the family.

I'm Jewish.... so that obviously doesn't bother me. Chanukah is super early this year, I think before Thanksgiving even, so as long as LO stays put we will be celebrating before the baby comes. We usually go to a theme park on Christmas but obviously won't be doing that this year. I'm never planning on grouping LO's birthday with Chanukah, they will always be separate no matter when Chanukah falls, which I know will often be on her birthday.

Hi fellow December mommies.. I'm home sick today with a nasty cold so I am occupying myself with baby thoughts.

How are you going to announce your pregnancy?

I want to buy my little one baby uggs- so I thought yesterday about posting a picture on facebook with our shoes, my pup's feet, and the baby uggs- in chestnut (gender neutral). Although, I feel like that's a trend and I wanted to do something unique. The other option was taking a picture with me, my husband, & dog (wearing a Big Brother bandana), and hold up the ultrasound picture. I don't think I want to post a photo of the ultrasound close-up.
What do you think? Please share your ideas!!
Thanks!

So this past week I have had three home care clients ask if I am pregnant (I just reached 7 weeks last Saturday). I just couldn't say yes cause it was way to early to tell people especially clients. So they felt bad they called me fat ....but really in reality they did cause most (or all lol) is bloat. Sigh...maybe my body is getting a jump start on things.
So anyone else get that question yet?
