Random question of the day!

I'd like to make slime as a party activity for 7 and 8-year-old girls. Because of the timing of the party, I want this to go rather quickly, and prefer to have the girls just add mix-ins (glitter, beads, fragrance, etc.) to their own containers of slime that I've prepared ahead of time. Ideally, I'd love to let them each color their own slime, but am not sure if that'll work well if I make the batch ahead).

So.....does anyone:

(1) Have a favorite reliable, easy, big-batch slime recipe that I could make ahead (enough to fill probably 15 decent sized containers)? Must take mix-ins well!

(2) Have tips on mixing colors into slime at the very end of the process?

Also - favorite cheap but good take-out containers to send the slime home in?

Thanks in advance!

The short answer is: don't.

We had this train table that the kids don't use anymore, and I thought I'd be clever and repurpose it. Looked on Amazon - lego base plates cost HOW MUCH? But I need 15 of them! So ordered some non-LEGO ones. They still cost $80. Then I went to Lowes, got them to cut down a piece of wood ($20 - I had to pay for the whole sheet of plywood even though I only wanted 1/3 of it) and bought spray adhesive ($20), as per the instructions I found on google. Got home, sprayed the wood, let it lay on the lawn while I frantically tried to piece together all those base plates only to have them fall apart on me when I lifted it up, so I'm piecing them together in the sun, trying to do it before the adhesive dried while keeping bits of grass out of it. Put a piece of plywood on it to stick it down and left it for a while. Then I carried the thing down to the basement - LEGO baseplates falling off it like leaves. Apparently spray adhesive is not going to work. Back to Lowes, asked for advice, they suggested epoxy, bought two tubes of that ($30). Spent another half hour mixing it and scraping it onto the base plates, having to make every drop count to get through it all without having to go back for a third tube. Finally get the thing together - it looks fine. Show it off to the kids. They are underwhelmed. Google LEGO tables, find a Kidcraft one on Amazon for $89. I spent $150 and hours of work. Today my thumb is all red and sore from pressing blocks down to try to space the base plates evenly.

I kind of want to try a DIY job changing the color of our tile in our stall shower. It's a small space and the tile is in good shape, so it seems like a good DIY experiment.

Has anyone done it? I got a quote and the price was ridiculous and I inquired about the process and it's exactly the same process as one of the $50 kits they sell at home depot. They quoted me $2k for a very small tiled area.

Any handy DIY bees have ideas to fix the top of a vintage wood bookcase? I just bought it on a yardsale site for my lo’s room, planning to paint it, but it actually matches the dresser in her room that is from when i was a child, and in better shape than I expected, so I’m going to keep the wood.

But the top is more scratched than I would like. I don’t need perfect (it’s a 3 yo’s room and I like the character- the piece is at least 60 years old), but would like to smooth it out and protect it. Ideas on easy fixes?

I've decided my younger daughter will be Hei Hei to go with her sister's Moana. I'm attaching my inspiration picture. I ordered a rooster/ turkey hat from Amazon that I'm hoping she will wear. We have yellow leggings that will work. But I'm picturing a super simple tunic top that I can add the neck ruffles to.

Any ideas or links to super simple (free) tunic patterns? I do not have a sewing machine but have sewn simple things and am willing to hand sew, use iron on tape, and a hot glue gun. Basically I'm picturing something like teal fleece folded over, with a neck hole cut out, and the sides sewn up, that I can then cut in the zig zag bottom and add the neck stuff. But having trouble even coming up with the right search terms.

THanks!
(edited to add the link to the costume- super cute but I can't pay that much and my kid would refuse to wear half of it anyway https://www.etsy.com/listing/523398824/moana-hei-hei-heihei-roosterchicken?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=hei%20hei%20costume&ref=sr_gallery_7&source=aw&utm_source=affiliate_window&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=us_location_buyer&awc=6220_1505671819_a41dabd7b8eb9e8876dad50e77c09bf8&utm_content=202819)

Before kids, I remember seeing a blog post on the internet about tracing your child's handprint onto cardstock every year and mounting them in a picture frame where the youngest is closest to the glass and each year you mount the new handprint at the back so you can see how their hands grow over time. It was really cute - so I filed it away in my mind as a "someday..." project.

Well - I went and bought cardstock and frames and glue dots and got all excited.... BUT..... then I realized I'm not sure how to do it right. I have a background sheet of cardstock that I will put this year's handprint on. But in a year, I'll need to remove it to put the new one behind and reattach to the background sheet.

So my question is.......... all you crafty people....... what is the smartest way to do this so I don't ruin the background sheet? Is there a removable glue dot type product that will really be removable after a full year - or even better - reusable for, say, 15 years?

TIA!

I'm thinking about making bath bombs with my four year old this weekend. Ideally, I'd love to ship them to his great grandmothers as part of their Mother's Day gifts.

Has anyone tried this before and has tips, advice, or a foolproof recipe to offer?

Thanks!

We are finally fixing up the playroom in our house and I am excited to actually decorate a room (as opposed to removing wallpaper and sanding and painting!). I love this picture and want to do similar- neutral walls with lots of cheery colors. And I want to have a banner like this across the room or a wall.

How would you do the banner? I'm thinking of buying a bunch of felt squares in rainbow colors and hot glueing over long string of twine. How big do you think the triangles should be to pop? It's a big room but the ceilings aren't that high. I'm fairly crafty but don't see much or have a machine. Or have you seen anything similar for an affordable price?

Is there an easy way to make these? From my googling it seems that people use photoshop programs. I'd like to make my own because they're so expensive to buy, but I'm not too tech savvy and I want it to be easy-ish and not too time-consuming as well.

I attached a picture in case my title is not what they're actually called.

How cheaply can I make 8 tutus?

I saw some for $6 each - so that's almost $50

They don't need to be fancy - just a prop for a party - kids are 6yrs old
