As a spin off from my prior post, does anyone have any prenatal yoga videos (YouTube or otherwise) they would recommend? I’m looking for like 15-20 min to do in the evenings. I’d love to do a class since that was great when I was pregnant with LO1 but it’s just not in the cards for me right now schedule wise.

Ladies. I'm already a bit fluffy as it is and I'm pregnant with baby number 3. Throw your tips on how to avoid overeating (I love food and I tend to eat out of bordem and for comfort.) Also tips on working out and staying motivated as well would be great. What worked for you ladies?

Who here runs (ran) while pregnant? I didn’t do anything with my first, but got really into running after she was born and ran a marathon in May. I had to take 4 weeks off of running for IVF, but I’ve been running for the past 2 weeks (just about 6 weeks pregnant).

My main question is, what did your heart rate average when you ran? I did not have a fancy watch during my marathon, so now I’m kind of obsessed with watching my heart rate, and it’s about 160 or so during my runs. The aprn at my ultrasound today said to keep it under 130, which I know is outdated information, but now I’m a little nervous.

I just went to do weights and I can't believe how out of shape and heavy I felt. I'm 4 months so I thought I'd be feeling back to normal like I did with my first pregnancy.
Did you continue working out while pregnant? Quit early on? Feel like a different person exercising?😖

I'm halfway through my second trimester, and finding myself in an exercise slump. I need to step it up and be in better shape, but I don't wanna do anything that's not appropriate for the pregnant body.

Anyone have any favorite prenatal exercise apps? I see a few yoga-related ones, which are fine, but I'm also looking for cardio and/or muscle building/toning exercises.

So I've been a bit of a sloth these first 20 weeks of pregnancy in terms of exercise. To be fair I've done a bunch of projects around my house that have taken up most of my time. But now that things are mostly in order I have more free time and feel like I should start doing SOMETHING active!

Any recommendations? Is just adding in walking 30 minutes a day really going to help that much? My last pregnancy my blood pressure went crazy towards the end so I don't think I should do anything very intense, but I'd really like to do SOMETHING!

Do you think there's a relationship between exercise and the lightness/severity of pregnancy symptoms?

I've been working out with a trainer for the last year, so I'm in a lot more in shape this time around than when I was before getting pregnant with lo (not that I'm in that great of shape--it's all relative, lol!). It's still SUPER early but I haven't started really having rough symptoms yet, whereas with lo basically the second I got a bfp I felt like I had the flu and was barely able to function for the first trimester and threw up all. the. time. So that makes me wonder. My trainer keeps saying that this will be an easier pregnancy since I'm in better shape, but I kind of don't believe him since he just wants me to buy more sessions :silly: Plus, it's a different pregnancy so I could just have totally different symptoms.

What do you think? If you exercise regularly, do you think it has/had an effect on morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms? Or did you still feel terrible, haha?

I know there are mama's out there who worked out while pregnant! I was a bump on a log my first two pregnancies and am determined not to be that way this pregnancy. I've been working out 4-5 times a week but since my BFP haven't hardly made it to the gym.

I normally wear a heart rate monitor and have been worried because I'm maxing out so fast and for what's not really a good amount of time to max my HR out at. THis is while I'm doing simple stuff like biking/light cardio. What kind of things did you do while working out pregnant?

Hello!

I started doing Soul Cycle this month. I've been to three classes so far, about one a week. I am 14 DPO today with a BFP since 11DPO.

All the reading I am doing on exercising while in the first trimester says you can keep exercising "if you did it before pregnancy." Does this mean I should be doing something less intense than Soul Cycle? I love it and really want to continue! But it's a really intense workout for me.

I've been active for long before I got pregnant and have been keeping up with what I was doing prior to pregnancy with my midwives full support.
I'm 18 weeks and lately I've been getting really sick during workouts, feeling nauseous and throwing up. Usually just once, but this morning was three times.
I slow down and take deep breaths, drink water, keep going and then I'm fine.
I still get morning nausea even in the second trimester so sometimes I wonder if it's partly that in combination with increased exertion.

Did anyone else have this happen? If you brought it up to doctor/midwife, were they concerned?

I haven't done much exercise this pregnancy since I've been so fatigued, but I am very fit in general. I lift weights, run, and except for the last couple of years due to pregnancy, play softball and ice hockey, and several other sports.

On Friday, my work is having a team-building sports day, and everyone is expected to participate unless they have medical restrictions. My boss and many other people know that I'm pregnant, but not all of my subordinates do yet. I haven't been keeping it from them, it just hasn't come up yet, and I am only 12 weeks.

While I am sure sure I will be excused to sit on the sidelines and cheer (how boring!), I am trying to figure out if I can participate somehow. I believe the sports that are being organized are ice hockey (which is obviously out), softball, soccer, and volleyball. I don't really love soccer or volleyball, but volleyball might be the safest. I was thinking that I might just play softball, but only batting or even if I field, play in the outfield (I'm a shortstop), to avoid bad hops in the infield or collisions at the base.

My medical chit (for work - I'm in the military) lists no contact sports, PT at own pace, and no other stuff that only applies to the military (drill, gas hut, deployments, etc.). But it's just a standard chit given out as a precaution to ensure that pregnant women aren't ordered to do any activities that either they aren't up to physically or that might prove dangerous for the fetus. I'm trying to decide what PT at my pace means for me.

What does everyone think? Too risky even at this early stage? Thanks for weighing in.

Hey fellow mama-bees!

(I haven't posted in quite some time 😬) I am excited to be pregs with LO #2 due in October! During my first pregnancy, I wasn't (read:literally not at all) active, but after DS was born I began running as my primary exercise routine and have loved it ever since.

Down to it: I'm only 10 weeks, 4 days, so not showing just yet, but I'm wondering if any of you ran through your pregnancies and if you have any tips/things you wish someone had told you and finally what belly-support bands you might recommend for the inevitable pop of the belly!

Thanks so much in advance!

I'm very newly pregnant and had just started Pure Barre. I used to do lots of core classes (pilates/ball balance), even while pregnant, but never got back on track with a new gym after we moved shortly after DD2 was born, so I was excited about getting back to my super strong core! I just want to feel like I'm doing SOMETHINnG for my body while pregnant so I donf leave all the hard work til I'm trying to juggle three little ones!

I'm finding conflicting material regarding the safety of my unborn baby. I have been training for the marathon for the past 6 months and ran 17 miles at a slower pace this last Saturday before confirming my wonderful news of my pregnancy! Am I safe to run the marathon at a slow pace, stopping to hydrate, and pausing to fuel with gels (not containing caffeine)? Or, do I need to sit this one out and try again another year?

With yoga, there are tons of conflicting guidelines online about what is "ok" and "not ok" in the various trimesters. My instructor and some of the online advice say to just "Listen to your body" and while I "get" that in theory, I'm a person who prefers the concrete, not the abstract. I have a hard time "trusting" my body with a history of loss and PCOS.

So, for those of you who did yoga during your pregnancy, what modifications did you make to your practice? What kinds of poses did your practice generally avoid, and generally focus on? I'm interested in hearing from a variety of pregnant ladies, vs. just a random yoga blogger online. Maybe @Mrs. Scooter: will pop in with her yoga wisdom :)

My experience:
Before getting pregnant, I did intermediate yoga 2-3 times .... no inversions or arm balances, but lots of deep backbends, hip openers, forward folds, twists, balancing poses, etc.

I didn't do yoga for weeks 3-6 of my current pregnancy, since this baby took some extra work & time to get... I returned to yoga in the middle of my 7th week, downsizing to 1-2 times a week (nausea, fatigue)

I'm trying to cut down on the amount of back-bending and twisting I do, since that seems to be recommended against in the first trimester. But that's a difficult guideline for me... I love up-dogs, king pigeon, and mermaid pose. I've hesitantly continued doing those, but stopped upward bow, standing backbend, and wheel.

Also, I attend class at a gym, not a studio, so there are no options for a prenatal-style class. Studios are about triple the cost of my gym, and I LOVE my instructor.

You know those infographics, like the 30 days abs challenge, or the 30 day legs challenge? Is there anything like that for pregnancy?

I'm on my work computer and since I work in a school, everrrrrything is blocked. 60% of the images on Google Images are also blocked, and I can't search anything with the work "pregnancy" or "maternity" (dumb, right?). Butttt...if someone where to post one here, I could use it!

I live in bike heaven (Portland), and generally try to ride my bike instead of driving as much as possible. I did it a bit during the first trimester, but at about 14 weeks I was able to go back to it fairly frequently. I feel so great!

Now, though, I'm getting the odd old person giving me a nasty look, and several random questions about 'When are you going to stop that already???' When I tell them that I'm not planning to they look at me like I'm crazy. Has anyone else here ridden through out pregnancy? It's pretty common in my circle and here in town, so I've been surprised at the number of comments I've gotten.
