So I had a complete blood count at my 34 week appointment recently and my platelets came back low, which I guess happens in about 7% of pregnancies. The doctor said they might come back up (whole house was recovering from RSV) but if they didn’t my bleeding would be monitored very closely after delivery and I wouldn’t be eligible for an epidural due to a small risk of paralysis if the insertion or removal lead to a hematoma.

With my first I tried for a natural delivery, but ultimately got the epidural and the only hospital in my county doesn’t offer any pain options except epidural, so I’m kind of freaking out. Did anyone else left on here have low platelets? Did they come back up? Any advice for a successful unmedicated birth? 😬

I haven’t been around much lately but I needed someone to talk to and knew this was the place to go.

Just found out tonight I’m expecting #3!! So super crazy. We were done and have pretty much gotten rid of everything but the crib that #2 is still using.

My boys are 8.5 and 3. DH was shocked but happy and very positive. I balled my eyes out! I’m guessing I’m about two months but I haven’t been keeping track as my cycle was really wonky after my second. And I was taking birth control.

Sorry this is all over the place but I just needed to get it out there and have some people to chat about it with.

This pregnancy has been a wild ride. I went in for a follow up ultrasound to check DS kidney (which is fine) and he was diagnosed with mild hydrocephalus. I'm a wreck and really trying not to Google as this is an anxiety trigger for me - we'll be doing an MRI later this week to get a clearer picture of things.

Wondering if anyone had dealt with a hydrocephalus diagnosis in their kids? What was you NB experience like, how were things handled, etc. What questions should I bring to the MRI appt/specialist appts? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

So I am a HelloBee member under a different name, but my name is too similar to some things in real life and I'm not ready to be public.

I just got a positive pregnancy test yesterday. A few weeks ago, my husband and I made the decision to not try/not prevent and that night we got pregnant. I didn't think it would happen at all. I wasn't sure I wanted another child at all.

We both work full time, and have a 4 year old daughter.

I'm scared. My first thought was "oh fuck".
DD was planned and tried for, this wasn't an accident, but not planned either.

I'm just getting my body and life back after having DD. Pandemic has been really really tough on me/us.

I don't really know what I'm looking for. I just needed to get my thoughts out.

Hi everyone,

I’m 14.5 weeks pregnant and I am feeling Braxton Hicks contractions already. Today especially they are kind of constant. They did go away earlier with lots of water, rest, but they’re back and not going away even though I’ve been resting and drinking. I emailed my ob but am reaching out here to see if anyone has any experiences.

I’m worried about going into labor already and losing the baby.

We have gone back and forth on having a 3rd kid for the last 2 years. Well, I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday, so I guess the decision has been made :) I feel anxious about it and a little excited. My other kids are 3 and 5. Anyone else gone for 3 and want to tell me how it went? Also, any recommendations for good due date forums? The due date forums here don't seem very active anymore and I can't handle babycenter (& similar) forums.

During pregnancy #1 I got a couple of varicose veins in my legs which got better but didn't go away completely after I had the baby. This pregnancy (I'm 26 weeks now) my legs have completely erupted in huge, bulbous varicose veins (same as before plus more) and tons of patches of bruised-looking spider veins. Diet and exercise have been almost identical, weight gain was faster this time but now leveling off and is not dissimilar from last time (I've gained 2 more pounds this time so far); the only thing I can think of that's different is I took baby aspirin last time and didn't bother with it this time. I'm also getting painful vulvar varicosities (for me, pressure-pain upon standing basically where my pubic hair area is).

Has anyone else had this on HB? Did it resolve or go away pp? My OB referred me to a vascular surgeon and I'm going to go, not sure what to expect though. The varicose veins are uncomfortable-to-painful, the spider vein patches are just super unsightly.

Thoughts/feelings/commiseration??

Anyone experience this before? I'm 19w tomorrow, and on my way to the grocery store I had a brief bout of vertigo, and nausea for about 15 minutes.

I had ate lunch and snacked afterwards. I did mostly ok on water intake and had a couple glasses of sweet tea at lunch. I assumed it was a random thing, but then when I got home and was unloading groceries it happened again.

The vertigo was enough to make me pull over on the way to the store, and then the second round I sat down in the recliner for a bit and it subsided fairly quick.

I messaged my doctor's office, but I won't know anything until tomorrow morning.

I’m pregnant with my first and we’re putting the finishing touches on the nursery, and I need some help! We have a rocker/recliner coming, and wanted to get a little footstool for when we just want to rock. We’re doing a little bit of an outdoors theme—animal mobile and a dusky mountain mural on one wall—and found a couple of really cute animal footstools, but now we can’t pick. There’s a bear, that both DH and I like more, but doesn’t really go with the color palette (lilac/blue/gray but with light wood furniture Stokke crib in natural and maple dresser/nightstand) and a bunny that matches but we’re less into. Photos below. What do you think?

So I'm dealing with what I assume to be pregnancy related insomnia for the last 4-5 weeks. Today I was updating my step count for our work incentive program and decided to check out my heart rate too.

Well I'm noticing a correlation between when I'm waking at night and extremely elevated BPM right before/right at the time I'm waking up. It's jumping up to 150 to as high as 186 BPM briefly.

Any one have any idea what it could be? I see my doctor Friday, but will contact the nurse tomorrow.

Hello, all. I’m currently 22 weeks, and have noticed three times this week that I’ve had cramping similar to period cramps for the first time since early in my first trimester. It’s always just been one cramp that lasts for a few minutes and then goes. I wouldn’t worry about it but I’m high risk for preterm delivery due to cervical issues, so pretty much anything unusual makes me twitchy. Could this be Braxton Hicks? Everything I’ve read says they show up as painless tightening of the belly, but this is def uncomfortable and pretty isolated low in my pelvis even though I’m regularly getting kicked at and above my belly button. For my sanity I’d really like to not go in to see my doctor if it’s nothing—I just got discharged from once a week high risk appointments in mid July and it’s so nice not to hear about all the things that could go wrong constantly.

I was talking with a friend the other day and we had a theory that if you had an easy pregnancy, you had a tough labor and vice versa. This was the case for me. With DS1, I loved being pregnant but the labor was the worst thing I've been through. Ever. With DS2, I was so sick the entire time both with nausea and pregnancy induced rhinitis. But labor was so easy! I basically slept the whole time.

What was your experience?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and have had a horrible headache for almost a week straight. I've had 2 successful pregnancies and 3 first trimester miscarriages and the only other time this has happened to me was during one of those miscarriages. Right before that miscarriage, I had woke up one day to find the persistent headache gone and then I started bleeding later that day. I never had anything like that happen with my two successful pregnancies. I have an ultrasound on Monday (at 7 weeks) so I should have a better idea what is going on then but I'm just curious if anyone else was ever tipped off about a loss by a persistent headache (maybe due to dropping hormone levels?). I know that headaches can happen during early pregnancy but this one seems to be much more intense and persistent than I've experienced in the past.

I had an appointment today at a Breast Clinic and although my BP was normal, my resting HR was 100. I called my OB and they referred me to a Cardiologist! Now I’m freaking out that something is seriously wrong, which is likely making my heart race even faster 🙄 do any of you have any experience with an elevated HR during pregnancy and everything being normal!? I don’t go until next Tuesday, so I’ll be worrying until then.

So my best friend got pregnant for the first time. They just started trying. Her family has a history of miscarriage so her doctor told her to go ahead and come in to check her levels. Long story short her levels hadn't risen a lot. It was 40 when she went in. She doesn't remember the second draw number cause she was really disappointed. They said her progesterone was low. It was 17 and it needs to be 21. They are putting her on supplements.

Will progesterone help the pregnancy stick and grow? I've never dealt with that side of pregnancy. We are just curious and wondering. She thinks it won't stick and is assuming she will miscarry.

I'm thinking about getting a chiropractor to help align my back and body. I've been pregnant 3-4 years in a row and my body is a little out of wack and just lately feels so stiff and sore. I also heard it helps make labor go more smoothly. The person I want to go to is certified to do pregnant women and knows the Webster technique. I was talking with some Facebook ladies and some said it's not safe even if certified and probably shouldn't. Is going chiropractor really unsafe? I've heard the opposite

Also some people say that chiropractors are just a "myth" that all they do is pop your back

I know the price point for the medical version of this is ~$2000 which is a drastic decrease from what prices used to be. Curious if people would consider saving to buy one.

Has any other ladies dealt with this? I had it when I was pregnant my daughter. With her starting at 30 weeks I started having contractions. Sometimes they irregular and sometimes were very regular. None changed my cervix and I was induced at 40 weeks. It was just painful at times and annoying cause nothing made them stop most times. Well I'm 26 weeks and I'm afraid they have started up again. The past week I've gotten more and more Braxton hick like contractions. Today it's been going on nonstop. There is no rythem to them. I will be telling my doctor about it my next appointment. I was just wondering if any other ladies have felt with this and what were some things that helped you?

Hi all, sorry if this is a bit rambling. Found out last night that I am pregnant with our third! I am only 9 month postpartum from our second son. This was completely and totally unplanned. I really, really, really did not think I was pregnant but decided to take a test just in case. So I am experiencing a LOT of emotions right now because we hadn't even decided if we wanted a third, let alone right now. I spent most of last night crying and feeling horribly guilty for not being happy about this little baby. I am so, so anxious for a variety of reasons, first of all I had a c section with my second so I feel like physically I shouldn't be pregnant so soon (I am NOT going to google anything). I feel like we're going to be stretched thin, financially and emotionally. I feel like I took away my second son's babyhood and that I have no idea how I am going to manage three children. We're going to have to cancel summer vacations we had planned, we're going to need a new car and we're probably going to have to move sooner than we had wanted. I just have a thousand thoughts rolling through my head about how life is going to be different now than what we planned. I know everything will be fine, it's just a lot right now and I am not a "roll with the punches" kind of person.

I am not sure what I am looking for here, probably just to vent and hopefully for someone with three kids to tell me that I will survive. I am not trying to sound ungrateful to be pregnant, because I know a lot of bees have struggled with infertility, I just need to unpack my emotions somewhere and this is a very supportive community.

I'd really like to do NIPT this time around, but I assume insurance won't cover it -- I'm 31 and not high risk. If you had NIPT done without insurance coverage, how much did it cost? It seems to fluctuate wildly. Also, how did it work? Was it your doctor's office that told you the amount and charged you, or did you need to contact the testing company directly? I'll obviously ask at my first appointment, but it's not until the 30th and I'm curious
