Boy...crickets on here lately! Hopefully some people still check in! No idea what to get my soon to be 4 year old for his bday...he's the third of three boys...his interests are whatever his brothers are interested in (all things we have a ton of already), we have memberships everywhere, we already have a nugget couch, we have about as much outdoor stuff as we can handle (small yard)...Help! All I have for him is a new sand bucket!

I cannot for the life of me figure out what to get my five year old for Christmas. She's the third girl, and while we don't buy our kids toys outside of birthdays or holidays....with three girls all within 4.5 years of each other, they have plenty of building toys, dolls, art supplies, hair accessories....she doesn't need a new scooter or bicycle because the next size is always waiting for her from one of her sisters.

After a lot of talking, we finally made a list for Santa, but there is no real "WOW" item on there that she desperately wants or will be thrilled by...her sisters both have these things, either by request or sure-to-be-a-hit surprises, and I just don't want the five year old to be disappointed. If she is, Christmas morning will not be pretty!! The things she's getting are a Barbie Babysitters Inc. set, an OMG Doll (totally copying her sister, but whatever), and a little battery powered surprise pet of some sort.

Anyone have interesting and unique gift ideas for the preK/K set?

Thanks!

We want to put a good reading chair in DS1's room to encourage him to read more. This would be one of his Christmas gifts. In his mind, he's thinking like one of the PBK anywhere chairs but he's 9 and so he's too big for them. Any idea for something that would be similar or at least would be super comfy? The corner isn't the biggest. I was thinking about one of the saucer or papasan chairs but wondering if I missing anything else that would work. Also, where is the best place to get something like this that is decent quality but not super expensive?

ETA: DS2 has a bean bag chair that we gave him for one of his box fort phases but DS1 doesn't seem impressed by it.

A friend of mine is having #4 in October, it was a surprise and it’s their 3rd boy in a row. I know it’s been a hard pregnancy and I really want to give her something special and not sure what is helpful! The sprinkler is a surprise given by her sisters and only 10 people. I know she has a million boy clothes and she’s been buying gear off our local garage sale fb.
I’m thinking a cute baby outfit (I already got her one because I loooove baby clothes) and maybe something for her?? What would you want for #4 that’s a tangible gift? Any ideas welcome!

We recently became a Nugget family and to say they are a hit with our kids is an understatement! We moved this past month and our old couch didn’t fit in the playroom so I took it as an excuse to buy a Nugget. We haven’t unpacked the vast majority of the kids toys yet and they haven’t even noticed because they just play with the Nugget in so many cool and creative ways.

My question is if anyone has anything that goes well with Nugget play? Right now my kids are using a tumble mat we already had with it quite frequently but I wonder if there are other things that could go along with it well too? Maybe those stepping stone things or Bilibos? Anything your kids love with the Nugget?

Hey all! My sister (who lives in FL) is due with her second baby in may and will have a 2.5 year old at that time. I want to send my nephew a few things to keep him busy while she is nursing/healing/etc. I have an only child who is 5 and I can’t remember what 2.5 year olds can do or what they like! My nephew is VERY busy and doesn’t sit to look at books, etc. I already have a few waterwow books and I’m thinking about Melissa and doug 8 piece puzzles but I’m not sure if those are as good for a 2.5 year old. I’m going to ask my sister too but she already has a lot on her mind and I want to make her life easier, not give her more decisions to make! So any suggestions would be so appreciated!

I need a small (like $20 or less) gift idea for a 2 year old with multiple siblings ... so they have everything already! Any ideas for something unique or new that I don’t need much lead time on (so probably not a custom order)? Maybe something your kid loved at Christmas? I always give Legos to older kids and I’ve forgotten what 2 year olds are into since mine only wants her big siblings’ toys :silly:

Any good ideas for a gift for a new dad? For Christmas I'm sending my SIL some fun self-care things I consider to be "new mom" survival essentials that are directly for her (not the baby), but relate things like relaxing at home....I'd like to send her husband (my BIL) something similar as well, but don't really have any good ideas. They don't live somewhere cold, so he doesn't need cozy things like slippers for his time off at home with the baby. Any ideas are appreciated!

Our nephew's birthday is coming up in a few weeks. With him and his sister home more due to the pandemic, I am very conscious of not getting him a clutter-producing gift. I have thought about a Kiwi Crate, since he likes tinkering, but other moms, tell me: is the gift of a project for you and your child to do together just too much right now? Any other great suggestions for an almost six-year-old who is super active, loves hockey, using tools, and riding his 4-wheeler?

I will send books for Christmas, so am planning on something else for the birthday gift.

He doesn’t play Minecraft, I assume he’s watched this on YouTube. Anyway, I can’t get him to ask for something else bc the other thing he wanted is a huge hot wheels garage that’s DEFINITELY not happening. Does he mean blind boxes? When I google Minecraft toys it seems like there is a ton of stuff out there and multiple series?

Here is what I have so far:

DD: playdoh set, art set, puzzle, electric toothbrush. I'll probably get her a few Usborne books too.

Dad: Uniqlo vest, probably a few books

Mom: She's more of a newspaper/magazine reader so maybe a subscription to that?

Happy late October bees!

I am panicking a bit at the thought of Christmas already - worried mostly about shipping times when everyone is ordering online with a sprinkling of wanting to support small business/BIPOC owned business at this time thrown in.

Anyone else have this on the mind already? Mind sharing your lists or sources to help fellow bees out?

My DD2 is 1 on Dec 15th and her big present will be a new carseat. She also needs clothes.

For Christmas, I think the big "Santa" gift to both girls will be a dollhouse? Then accessories and some books will round us out. More clothes and maybe some "experience" gifts depending on what the future looks like I suppose. Dd1 is 3.5 - might get her some preschool stuff (we held back from starting her in the fall, are aiming for fall 2021 now #thankscovid).

Hoping to avoid Amazon for all of this and the big shops for clothes.

They are in an Airbnb awaiting for their house to be built, so I'm sure they'd prefer a gift that is small and/or consumable (ie I got a small, cute, personalized bracelet for his 3 year old sister's birthday). Typically I would say movie/museum/zoo tickets, but... :bummed: not really an option in a pandemic. Anyone have any good ideas?

I know it's almost the end of January but I'm still recovering from hosting both sets of grandparents and a SIL for the holidays. My 6yo was ahead of me and wrote "Thank you!" on an index card and out it in an envelope for everyone she needed to thank. I didn't make her do more because she did it with a pure heart and felt really good about it. She also did my 4yos for him the same way which was sweet.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, truly, but I need to figure out how to stop my husband from spending money on things for me that I do not want or need. I've even tried being direct and telling him (which of course makes me feel like an ass**le and he gets this disappointed face) but nothing seems to work.

Case in point - he's on some kind of mission to find me bras. I've complained a few times that I really hate bra shopping and most traditional places don't have my size, so literally for weeks there were packages coming from Amazon, VS, you name it, with bras in them, all in my size but in styles I would never wear and shapes that are all wrong for me. I told him repeatedly not to do this, I will buy my own bras, and I just saw another VS charge on our credit card.

Also spotted on our credit card today, charges for REI and Fabfitfun. He claims Fabfitfun is for his mom...for whom he never buys gifts and who is a 70+ year old Indian woman with zero interest in anything FFF has to offer, so clearly it's for me and he just doesn't want to say so. He knows how much I hate stuff like FFF because I'm a pretty low maintenance person and am just not into "stuff" but here we are, I'm gonna have to disappoint him yet again. The REI charge is likely for puffer vests because again, I mentioned I was having a hard time finding one I liked and he sent me a bunch of links to REI and I told him they were too expensive and wouldn't fit me anyway, so I'm guessing he went on a mission to find one in my size, disregarding my price concern. In the past, he's gotten me stupidly expensive jewelry too (I rarely ever wear jewelry, much less expensive stuff).

I don't know what else to do. It's coming from a good place so I feel like an ass, but I've told him a hundred times what I do and do not like so it's not a mystery in any way. It's like he's intentionally ignoring me and then I feel like a jerk for telling him to return it all. Any ideas?

I have a 6 month old, so he'll be almost 9 months old at Christmas. My parents told me they want to get him a big gift, the problem is I can't think of anything! He already has the essentials, a crib, stroller, car seats and he has an ExerSaucer. I can't think of anything else!

Anything I'm not thinking of? I always struggle with asking for things for myself, and this is his first Christmas, so I'm allowing the grandparents to spoil him. I just honestly can't think of anything other than clothes!
