Anyone have a recommendation for a sun hat that their kids will wear? My pale redhead kids are in 4th and 2nd grade. We're headed to Hawaii next month and I want to spend as little time fighting about hats and sun protection as possible.

Current favorite waterproof mittens for toddlers and preschoolers?

We had our first snow storm this weekend and I realized I can’t find my 4 year olds waterproof mittens and the almost 2 year old never had them. I didn’t like the missing ones anyway, but both went out in the snow with the cheap carters knit ones, so time to get some more.

Easy to put on, hard for little fingers to take off, and keep hands warm and dry. Preferably cheap because they don’t play in the snow THAT much (like at school they hardly seem to play outside after it snows even though they say they do).

What type of hats does your LO wear to protect them from the sun? My girls are 3 and 4.5 and I want to get them hats for when the weather finally decides to warm up! I checked at Target but it looked like they only had toddler sizes in sun hats and they had one baseball style hat but it also looked pretty small.

Links are helpful! :)

DD (4 years old) was playing in the snow yesterday and snow got into her gloves and she was complaining how cold her hands were. She has these Hanna Andersson gloves. Any tips on how to keep snow OUT of the glove when she's playing? Is there another type of glove/mitten you recommend?

Ok, this is super frivolous compared to (but way more fun than) my other questions today...Yesterday I saw a baby wearing the CUTEST pink floral pilot cap (like the Hanna Andersson ones)...only it had long bunny ears!! No amount of googling is turning up anything similar! I should have asked the mom where she got it, but I had already quizzed her about her wrap and felt stalkerish. 😜

Have you ever seen something similar? Wish I had a pic to help, but I can't find one!

Last spring, I grabbed a couple pairs of heavy-duty, waterproof mittens on clearance--best for snow and 30 degree and lower temps. BUT what do I put on my 20 month old's hands for 40-50 degree temps? I can't find any smallish mittens that have thumbs! I just need some simple mittens, just not overly insulated yet.

DD is 15 months and hates having anything on her head. Hats and hood are torn off immediately. But she loves playing outside, we walk to school, and it's getting cold (30 degrees this morning!). Are there any miracle hats they actually like? Do you give up and let them freeze? She was literally turning purple at the park yesterday.

So my 3 year old insisted that mittens are for babies and that big girls wear finger gloves. I found a 3 pack at H&M for cheap and decided to get them for her. She hates them! She says they are too hard to get on (which I figured) and throws them on the ground.

So my question, when did you switch from mittens to gloves? I'm so happy i bought mittens for outdoor play (waterproof ones) for her stocking!

DH is planning to really start teaching DD 2.5 how to ski this winter. I despise and loathe the entire glove/mitten situation. It's such a pain to get them on/off. So far, we've only found mittens with a split thumb. Getting that said thumb in the glove is a struggle. Getting the whole darn glove under OR over the snow jacket is another PITA. Ugh... IDK how people do it every day in snowy regions. Advice, tips, links? Help me, because I already foresee mommy losing it on slopes.

For DD1, I bought a few cute hats for her - some in 'one size' - Vera Bradley, Ralph Lauren, etc. But her 8 lb, 98% head was still too small for them! She wore the hospital ones and by the time she fit into them, we didn't need hats anymore.

Looking for a cute pink hat for this new one. Gap has some "up to 7 lbs" and H&M has their soft cotton in "0-1 month" - anyone tried either? Any other recommendations?

What kind of mittens does your active toddler wear at the playground? Last winter she just wore some basic knit/ lined ones most of the time, and we had a pair of bulkier waterproof ones for snow days.

This year she will be almost 2.5 and loves to climb anything and everything. I feel like the regular knit or fleece ones will be too slippery when she is climbing ladders and things like that. Are there fleecy mittens with grippy hands? I'm worried more for the cold but not bitter cold days when we will actually be outside for longer, so they don't have to be the very warmest. I just don't want her hands slipping off the ladder and her falling.

Maybe this is a dumb question... but when did you start putting gloves on your baby? LO is 7mo and she doesn't have any. It sort of never occurred to me to buy any, and now I'm not sure that I should because she constantly has her hands in her mouth so I think gloves might just annoy her and/or get wet and make her hands even more cold?

She isn't really out in the cold much anyways. We have a garage and she has a car seat blanket and I always put a hat on her if it's chilly.

My LO (8 mo) simply won't wear a hat. I have tried many different styles, but she pulls them off immediately. If I tie her iplay hat tight, it stays on longer but she pulls on it and cries the entire time. Currently, I just keep her in the shade as much as possible, but I've got to figure out a solution for swim lessons! I tried rubbing sunscreen into her hair, but it was a total disaster. Has anyone tried spray sunscreen on their baby's head? We have a float with a canopy for pool time, but she can't use that during her lessons.
