So DD's 12 month check up isn't until next week, but I just noticed she hasn't grown, at all, since 9 months. She was 27-1/4" tall at that check-up, and I actually measured her as 27" tall at home for her 12 month board (although I'm sure she didn't shrink). How worried should I be (because you know I am!)?

She was 21" at birth, 23" at 2 months, 26.25" at 6 months, 27.25" at 9 months. (So has gradually dropped percentile, but current height puts her at 2%, down from 25% at 9 months)
Her weight has been around 50%, and has also dropped but not as much. She was 18.1 lbs at 9 months, and is just under 19 lbs now.

I do recall the nurse measuring twice at her 9 month appointment, so I believe there was some concern but it was never voiced to me, and the dr. didn't mention it at all.

Developmentally she seems fine, she's been walking for awhile, waves bye, no words yet other than mom-mom-mom.

Questions I should go in with next week? Anything else I should be looking out for? Anyone have similar stalls in height that were fine?

If you had a small baby, percentile wise, did they remain in the lower percentiles as they got older or did they eventually bump up? If so when and by how much?

DS is a peanut and before every appt I try to guess what percentile he'll be in and I'm always way wrong and he's way lower.

We just had his 9 mos and he's 11th for weight and 15th for height. I was thinking 30th for both!!! DD who is 4 is in the 60th for both....... Will ds ever be "bigger"??

Did anyone's baby start off in low height percentiles and then later grow a bunch and get longer/taller? Or did anyone's baby have low height percentile but end up being a taller toddler?

My baby started in the 25% for height and then at her 6 month check up she was in the 20%. I'd like her to be a tall girl! I'm just amazed at how short she is. Her 9 month appointment is coming up soon so I hope she's grown!

My DH always laughs when people talk about the growth percentiles and he says, "Everyone's kid seems to be in the 99th%ile somehow!" So I want to do an informal poll to see if the percentiles really fall like a bell curve the way that they are supposed to. :) Just for fun!

If your baby was a "plump" baby, how did the weight gain continue as your baby got older?

My baby girl is 6.5 months. She's short at 25" and preciously plump at around 19 pounds. I love her chunks. She's having a little trouble with some clothes, though, and I'm so curious with how her weight and height are going to go as she grows. Will she keep gaining weight and no height? Oh the clothes troubles we will have then!

I tried the ped's office, but the nurse I talked to "didn't know how to find that info." I'll try again when they open, but I'm working on a report right now and was hoping I could just look it up!

LO is 7.5 months. We have a baby scale at home and he's 20 lbs these days. His last height check was at the doctor's office and he was 27 or 28 inches long. He feels so heavy these days! I saw a 30 lb one year old once and she looked like a chunky baby. My guy doesn't look like a chunky baby, but I kind of feel like he is. He's still filling out some of his 6-12 mos clothinh.

Babies eat well but have always been in the 15th percentile or less. They are both under the 5th percentile now at 11 months. At their 9 month check up, they were 10th or 4th percentile.

They are healthy otherwise. I wonder if the dr will suggest pedisure or something since they are taking less formula these days.

Do you have a growth chart up, or do you record your child's height on the wall somewhere? My Nana measured our heights on the inside of her closet. It's so fun to look back at it. I want to do that with my girls, but may do that Pinterest type giant ruler so if we ever move I can easily take it.

Our daughter just turned three, and according to her wellness check she's in the 25th percentile for weight and ~50th percentile for height. What's been unexpected is that even though she isn't that tall, a lot of people comment that she seems tall! I think that's because she has a skinnier build, so that makes her seem taller. She seems to be on track overall, and I don't really worry about her growth chart too often.

Our son is turning 5 in December, and is on the lower end for both height and weight. Lately though he's been gaining on both though, and I'm hoping that his next wellness check will bring him closer to the median! He used to be by far the smallest kid in his class (he's small and also a December baby), and now he seems to be closer to the average. We'll know more soon!

Do you worry about your kids' growth charts?

I don't focus on these a lot. I track it in my app and look at it now and then. I am adjusting what they are eating so I might be looking at their weights a bit more closely.

Pardon the spiked lines in height. I wasn't doing a good job with measuring at the heel earlier in the year. :silly:

Oh, I keep track of their stats at dr visits and each month for their monthly photo.

Oh, the app (Total Baby) tracks it in their adjusted age since they were preemies. Why you see points before their due date.

Hi all,

LO had his 3 year well visit today, and they measured his height at 3'2.5", or 38.5 inches. I was interested to see on his chart that this fell around 75th percentile- so tall, but not super tall like I thought he was, probably because he outgrows pants all the time, lol!

So just for fun, I thought I'd make a height poll for 3 year olds, if you know what your LO's height was around their birthday. I guess we should limit to boys, since they separate growth charts b/t boys and girls.

DS1 was 5lb5oz and 17.5 inches
DS2 was 5lb6oz and 19 inches, so longer but not really heavier.

At DD's 2 year check-up today her doctor said that her BMI is in the 86th percentile (50th for weight and 80th for weight) and that it's at the top end where he'd want to see it. I was honestly pretty shocked that it was so high! Even though she was born a big baby (99th percentile for both weight and height), we had a bit of trouble putting weight on her the first 18 months, and at her 18 month appointment she was only in the 20-25th percentile for weight and height.

We were busy doing DS's two week check at the same time so I didn't really stop to ask any questions. I guess we just make sure she's staying active and eating balanced, but I'm curious if anyone else has been told this about their toddler and what you did/how it all worked out?

My daughter seems to just grow continuously! She is always getting taller, slowly and steadily.

My son didn't seem to grow any taller at all for two years or so. His sister was catching up to him but then in the past few months, he's suddenly sprouted a few inches! Between his height and his teeth that just fell out (he's lost 3-4 in the last few months too), I can see him growing up before my eyes!

Is your LO growing continuously or in spurts?

My son just turned two, and he's always been way way down on the charts for weight (2nd percentile at 9 months, 3rd at a year, etc). We were referred to a pediatrician who checked him out and said that he seemed to be healthy, happy, and developmentally normal and that as long as he kept eating and didn't fall off the charts she wasn't worried. Now at 2 he's up to the 10th percentile, but my husband still worries about it A LOT. He's constantly entering his weight into various calculators and telling me "Oh, this one says he's only in the 7th! What did the doctor say?" It makes me crazy - I feel like as long as he's eating and hitting developmental milestones he's just a skinny kid (it also makes me crazy because my husband doesn't do anything re: cooking, feeding him, or actually going to his appointments).

Do you worry about your child's weight and where they fall on the charts, or do you figure that as long as their doctors are happy and the kid seems happy they're fine? And does anybody have any resources they can point my husband to that will reassure him (or just make him shut up about it, I don't really care which)?

Really just curious more than anything else! I though that R is pretty average sized, but he's actually still quite small for his age. At his 1 year visit he was 19 lbs 3 oz, and 29.65 inches. Still 15% for weight and 30% for height (55% for head, LOL).

T was 18 lbs and 28.75 inches...I want to say 5% for weight and 15% for height.

How big were your kids?

My daughter is 9 months old. She started on solids at 5.5 mo and really got going on them at about 7 mo. She eats about 12-16 oz of solid food a day and breastfeeds on demand- lately about 8+ times a day. I weighed her this week and it seems she has only gained a few oz in 6-8 weeks. She seems totally normal, is happy, weighs about 17 lbs with chunky legs. We see her Dr 12/20 but I'm a touch worried. Any thoughts/experiences?

Per this Mayo Clinic article there are two ways to predict your child's full grown adult height.

http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/childrens-health/expert-answers/child-growth/faq-20057990

Formula 1: doubling their height at 24m for boys and 18m for girls.

Formula 2: add the mother's and father's height in inches. Add 5" for boys or subtract 5" for girls. Divide by 2.

Based on these two formulas, what will your LO's full grown adult height be?

DD1: formula 1 - 5'6" Formula 2 - 5'-7 1/2"
DD2: can't do formula 1 since she's only 15m.
