I'm upset... we have been TTC baby #2 and I'm on IUI #3 now. They have me take 7.5 mg of letrozole from day 3-7. Then I go for an ultrasound to check how many follicles. Then they have me use opks and when I get a positive I go in for the IUI.

First try I had 4 follicles. Second try I had 2 and this time they said I had at least 3 "quiet" ones so they thought maybe I ovulated already. They took a blood test and said I may need to go in for another ultrasound next week, but also to keep testing for ovulation just in case.

What could have caused this??? I am pretty sure I have not ovulated yet because there is no mistaking the pain when I do. But wouldn't letrozole have worked by now? I think I'm on day 12 or something now.

DH and I were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We went through 3 rounds of IUI and finally got pregnant.

I was on letrozole before these IUIs and I think I had 3 follicles the cycle I conceived.

We are ready for baby 2, have been trying unsuccessfully for 4 months now. I'm 10 dpo, took a test and its negative. The first sign of AF I'm going to reach out to the clinic again.

I am soooo not looking forward to all the tests again. I'm hoping I wont need much more than blood tests (HSG was not fun..)

Those of you who needed an IUI to conceive your first, did it work for your second as well?

I got my BFP last time the day before our consult for IVF. I'm scared now that I'm almost 2 years older, IVF may be our only hope. I think my eggs are bad and the letrozole helped increase our chances of my ovulating with a good egg. Not sure that makes sense but its the only explanation I can think of as to what our problem is.

Anyone else doing an IUI cycle now or soon? This will be my third time doing IUI with Menopur injections. Worked first try with both of my girls. But, I’m almost 41 now, so I’m a little nervous. Would love to connect with anyone else going down this path!

So, Aetna won’t cover our IUI unless my FSH is under 19. It was 8.8 two years ago. Is it possible for it to have gone up super high since then? How much has yours increased if you’ve been tested over a period of years?

Does anyone have experience taking estradiol/estrace vaginally around the time of ovulation? I was told to start using estradiol vaginally 2 days before a trigger with TI - and to keep using it until my beta at 14dpo. But now I'm seeing that estradiol is supposed to suppress ovulation. What is going on? Does my RE know what she's doing?! Also, it seemed weird that I was supposed to be having timed intercourse and also soon after inserting the estradiol. Somehow having estrogen dissolving with all the sperm seems like it isn't right. Help!

Hi! HB is a phenomenal community composed of so many supportive ladies that I am hoping that people will be open to the concept of this board.

There are so many boards and posts pertaining to TTC, POAS, infertility (primary and secondary), ART, and IVF that I was hoping to make an all-inclusive board for anyone TTC who has had or is doing (or will be doing) an infertility intervention. Those who have successfully conceived using an infertility intervention are welcome to post as well.

I figured a good intro would be similar to that of the POAS board where each person replies to a number of questions as part of an introduction ... Here goes:

• How long have you been/were you TTC?
• What interventions have you done/are doing?
• Reason for intervention?
• Any successes?
• Current # of Children -
• The most difficult part of the process?

Last week my RE finally confirmed PCOS based on an ultrasound and my irregular cycles. He prescribed metformin and I'm currently taking 1,000 mg per day and need to increase to 1,500 next week.

I haven't had *awful* side effects besides nausea that comes and goes and feeling very tired and at times a little lethargic.

I'm not overweight and as I far as I know do not have any insulin problems. Should my doctor have checked that prior to prescribing metformin? I generally feel better around 15 minutes after eating and it lasts for about an hour. But I can't eat all day to curb the symptoms or I will be overweight! Any advice?

Does anyone have experience where your progesterone was low in early pregnancy, you used suppositories, but the pregnancy was not viable? I have had 3 previous losses, so I had my beta and progesterone drawn yesterday at 12dpo. My hcg was 34 (so fairly low but not totally conclusive) but my progesterone was only 7. I started using suppositories last night just in case, but my guess is that the low progesterone is a symptom of another early loss, not its cause. Of course, I know we can't be sure. And now I'm nauseous from the progesterone, which is especially annoying. I haven't POAS since yesterday morning because it would be too hard to get through the workday today. I will tomorrow morning. Anyone have a similar experience? If the line is lighter tomorrow, should I just stop the progesterone so that it doesn't delay the miscarriage? Thanks!

I miscarried in August and I just emailed the RE to see what I would need to do to begin IUI again. Anyone have a similar situation? I went through so much testing and procedures earlier this year and I'm afraid they're going to want me to re-do it all. What is the likelihood they will let me jump right back in to IUI next cycle?

I am looking for anyone that has looked into or done embryo adoption. I am nearing the end of my allowed cycles for oral fertility meds only, and will be moving on from there.

Background:

My conflict is my husband's SA came back with flying colors, so I'm concerned IUI won't really help our odds at this point. As to IVF it is outside our budget, and do not want to go into more debt pursuing IVF.

Also I know that if we did pursue IVF, and I had embryos left over after having 1 or 2 more kids I couldn't destroy or donate to research and would maybe have a hard time giving them up for adoption.

So my solution, currently, is to pursue Embryo Adoption.

I am looking for any groups, clinics, adoption agencies, anything that anyone might have experience with and can recommend.

Also I remember watching a dateline or 60 minute special in the late 90s about the "Adopt a Snowflake" foundation and I haven't ever forgotten it. So maybe it's always been in my cards.

I did my first round of Clomid 100mg on 5/23 and had trigger shot on 6/1...and I've had NO energy! Im exhausted all day but have trouble sleeping through the night. I’m a personal trainer and I personally workout 5 days a week but have noticed I fatigue very early on and have had to scale back on my normal intensity since these meds...anyone else? I’ve been anemic before (and had to have blood transfusions) and it feels similar to that. It’s almost embarrassing. I’d feel better just knowing it's the meds and its temporary.

Between my husband and I, we have 4 different insurance companies to pick from. Thinking down the road... I'm still under 35 (by all of a year) and will need to TTC for one year before being able to go back to the RE (like with DD). My current insurer has records of my recent pregnancy/loss so in their eyes, my one year period hasn't even started yet. I'm contemplating changing insurance companies to cut that time down. I don't think records are shared so any of the other 3 companies, wouldn't know of this loss. Also we have a lifetime limit for IF coverage which basically resets which each company. Has anyone ever done this? Changed insurers to get around some of this? Obviously I hope we won't need it with #2 but this loss took a big chunk of time out of TTC a window so I need to consider other options.

So tomorrow is my 3rd (& final) round of IUI! We triggered last night and had relations this morning. I am wondering if there are any tips for increasing our success rate for IUI that you have either heard of or done yourself??

I am already going to acupuncture twice a week for infertiltiy, have been since January, & I will be seeing her for a treatment both before AND after the IUI procedure. But other than that, I'm really at a loss on anything I can do to help encourage this one to work! :bummed: We eat a Mediterranean diet, primarily plant-based especially at home, and I'll be doing a berry & spinach smoothie every day with Acai-superfood blend powder & my acupuncture herbs. I know I have read before about McDonald's french fries after an IVF transfer ha, but this is obviously a different situation so didn't know if there was anything similar to that to try or do??

{For just a bit of background- we are completely unexplained infertility. I ovulate on my own & even have ovulation pains on which side the largest follicle is on each month. We started with charting, temping, & OPKs. Progesterone was 13.9 ng/mL on my own & 31.6 ng/mL after Clomid. HSG was clear (actually had to have it done twice due to an air bubble so it's definitely clear), Estradiol was 48, FSH 7.5, AMH 2.37. I don't know the levels but my RE also tested my Vitamin D3 & thyroid levels and came back within the normal range. We also had that one blood test that checks for the 3 main genetic birth defects (can't remember what it's called right now) but that was clear/good/whatever & I met with a genetic counselor who didn't suggest any further blood work was needed from us right now, just based on our family history. My husband's sperm is like crazy good- 255 million before cleaning last IUI cycle & 175 mil after washing! He is 35 & I just turned 33 on Friday. We have done one cycle of Clomid on it's own with my gyno, & this is our third cycle of IUI with Clomid/Ovidrel with monitoring. After this we will have to move on to IVF... & it frankly scares the shit out of me!  :meh: }

As I'm writing this out, I guess I am just feeling incredibly out of control with this whole infertility process right now & I just want to know that I did everything that I COULD 'control' to help- if there's anything that can!! Infertility just really eff-ing sucks. :crying:

Hi All,
Looking for advice/knowledge.
A good friend of mine just started undergoing fertility treatments. On an ultra-sound to prep for treatments, a tumor was discovered that wasn't there just a month before. It was very large. It turns out it is malignant. The growth spread slightly to the colon also. She had surgery and the doctor said they removed it "all" and it has not spread to the lymph nodes. However, a pathology report couldn't initially determine the type of malignancy so it's being sent to a more advanced lab.
I'm wondering if any of you have ever dealt with this before and what the prognosis might be. Obviously I am terrified for her. The doctor told her that a fast-growing tumor can respond well to chemotherapy.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or could offer some feedback/perspective/their own experiences, I'd appreciate it.

My background: TTC 6/2015-now, no pregnancies. 3/2017: Clomid 25+trigger, BFN. 4/2017: HSG good, 60 day anovulatory cycle, Provera. 6/2017: Clomid 50 unmonitored, ovulated but BFN. Clomid 50 again, unmonitored, ovulated but BFN. Semen fine. HSG fine.

I went to a new RE yesterday for a new opinion. Dr told me I don't have PCOS even though I have acne, facial hair, elevated total testosterone, and crazy high LH. Told me that I must have unexplained fertility and need IUI. Told me timed intercourse with ovulation won't work if it didn't by now.

I think this is a fast assumption to make, but maybe I am wrong? I have read about people getting BFP with clomid by cycle 5 or 6. I only went to this dr because I wanted monitoring. I didn't expect to be told I don't have PCOS, I am unexplained, and need IUI. How does IUI even benefit me if my husband is fine? I am so confused. Oh, and they want $2000 up front. I didn't think IUI was so pricey? I need someone experienced to lend me their opinion...

I have pcos. With my daughter, i got pregnant on the FIRST try of the lowest dose of clomid (50mg) - she is now 2. My 2nd pregnancy i did 1 cycle of 50mg which was unsuccessful, then one at 100mg and i got pregnant - then i had a miscarriage at 9 weeks.

I thought that even though i had PCOS, my only problem was with ovulating, and clomid made me ovulate and fixed the problem. But since the miscarriage we have done 3 cycles of femera and timed intercourse, then 1 cycle of femera with IUI, then one cycle of clomid with trigger shot, IUI and progesterone. None have worked.

I'm having a really hard time deciding what to do. I thought my only problem was ovulating but i have confirmed ovulation each of these cycles. I'm almost to the due date of the baby i miscarried and I'm feeling so helpless.

Should i do more IUI's? Should i move to IVF even though I've gotten pregnant relatively easily twice in the past?

Last night my husband and I experienced our very first trigger shot experience! {They need to add "chug a glass of wine before your no-experience-with-anything-medical-at-all husband stabs you with a needle" as step one BTW}

I have gone back and forth a million times about whether or not I should start testing with Wondflos until they go negative or just to wait until my next cycle is due/if it comes late and start testing from there... I'm not normally an early tester, or I really TRY not to test, because I learned that for me seeing a negative test hurts more than seeing my period so I try to avoid them- if I can hold on to the willpower that month of course. But I'm TERRIFIED about seeing a positive and it just being leftover from the trigger shot!! I've never had a positive pregnancy test before and so I'm also worried it would be heartbreaking to watch them go from positive to negative... and not see it then become positive again for real.

Does anyone have a recommendation of what they did/do, or what they wish they would have done?? I am trying to protect my heart as much as I can in this process and I am afraid both options scare me right now. :bummed:

I read about the half-life of Ovidrel and I made myself an outline of when it SHOULD be out of my system but I also read on another post that it was still coming up positive 3 days after they tried that!

I could really use any and all advice here. I'm feeling overwhelmed! {and terrified and trying to stay hopeful while not getting my hopes up and trying not to lose my shit on everyone and trying not to cry every 30 minutes and... haha} Thank you SO MUCH in advance!

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for injectable meds & IUI? I'm especially curious if you didn't have insurance coverage for infertility.

Thanks!

I'm on CD 8 after taking 5mg of Femara days 4-8. I know this OPK isn't completely positive but it's really close. Does anyone know if Femara can cause a false positive or maybe I'm getting ready to surge?
I'm not being monitored this cycle since I didn't want the trigger shot so I'm flying blind!

What were your cycles like after stopping medication?

I'm coming off three months of medicated cycles and have no idea what to expect! We will not be trying but I'm just wondering what my body is going to do.
I know everyone is different but I would love to hear your experience!

I just had my midcycle ultrasound and had one follicle at 36mm and one at 18mm. Is the 36 too big? From some quick googling it sounds like it might be "overripe"

I'm on my 7th cycle of trying after a miscarriage, 5th IUI. I'm in the waiting room right now wondering if they're going to cancel the IUI we were going to do this morning.

Also, my lining was only 6.7mm, so that might be too thin as well.

I'm thinking it may be time to move on to IVF brcauae this just isnt working

Hi ladies. The last cycle I had an HCG trigger was April, 2014 (when I got pregnant with DD). So, I'm a little rusty. Also, I didn't test out the trigger that time and I had weekend of anxiety after testing positive 10DPO and not knowing if it was the trigger or BFP. It was BFP. Anyway, I am testing it out this time and am 6DPO today. The tests (wondfo) between Saturday and today really don't look much different from one another. So, it must be taking a long time to metabolize this time around. Anyone have photo document of testing out your trigger? I would love to see. Mine was 10,000 units. TIA!

For anyone who has used progesterone vaginal suppositories after fertility treatments, what side effects did you experience? Did you confuse the progesterone with pregnancy symptoms? I have used them once before, in 2014 when I became pregnant with my daughter. So, the symptoms I felt then actually WERE pregnancy symptoms. But, I can't remember the specifics of how I felt besides tender breasts.
