@codeitall: That sucks you've had 2 colds brought home so far! No big deal if he's been watching extra tv, gotta do what you gotta do!
That's awesome you've been getting more sleep with this one!

We've been doing pretty good. Maisie is an awesome baby which is great because my 2 y/o is a huge handful right now. My 3.5 year old is pretty good, but can be a threenager. My 3.5 year old has been getting up at 530 every day which is way too early, with middle of the night wakes ups as well which is unusual for her.
Maisie is amazing and has been sleeping through the night for quite a while. The last few weeks shes been sleeping at least 10 hours, but this week she has done a 13 hour, 12.5 hour and a 12 hour night. I'm a little concerned how much she has been sleeping actually.
We had to take her to a childrens hospital 4 hours away last week for a quick checkup. She has lots of birth marks and they have some concerns with them. So far everything is good, but we're waiting for an ultrasound on her spine and abdomen and then we will know if everything is good or not.

I'm loving the baby age again and have been begging my husband to go for a fourth ( obvs not right now haha) but so far he's not on board at all hahah.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

How's everyone surviving?

DS has brought two colds home from daycare and watched waaaay too much Little Einsteins in the past few weeks, but he loves his little sister and it is so cute to watch him try to help her.

DD has been a great newborn, except for her hatred for all pacifiers and bottles. We're also breaking all American norms by bedsharing. Side nursing for her dream feeds has been a life changer and I get tons more sleep than I did with my first!

Baby girl is here! Got to the hospital at 4cm. About an hour later I was 5 cm and got an epidural. For the second time, it didn't work - with DD1 I was in labor for long enough that they had time to remove the first one and re-do it. This time around I got an urge to push as the anesthesiologists were trying to decide what to do. About 45 minutes after I was told I was 5 cm I had baby girl in my arms. Epidural never did work so I consider it a natural birth...which was definitely not something I ever thought I would do! Everyone is healthy and DD1 is completely enthralled with her baby sister :)

I won't make a long post because I kind of just disappeared after my initial post instead of sticking around, but I had my baby girl on March 15th and everything went well. I only spent about 15 minutes in the hospital before she came, so I'll definitely have to remember to leave the house earlier next time. Hope everyone is enjoying their new babies!

I had been having consistent contractions through out the day and especially at night for weeks. I just knew baby would come early but each night the contractions would fizzle out. My due date came and went with little progress made at my 40 week appointment (on a Friday afternoon). My cervix was still high and posterior so my OB didn't feel comfortable starting an induction any time soon.

I was so disappointed thinking I would have to go into work the following week but I had some fun plans for the rest of the weekend so I decided to make the best of it. We went to a wedding Saturday night and I noticed on the hour drive home, that contractions were getting consistent again but I figured it was like any other night. Around 9/10pm the contractions felt more crampy and I was using the bathroom more often so I decided to try to get some sleep. I would wake up with each contraction but was able to sleep in between them. We got up for church Sunday morning around 7:30 and I made sure to tell my husband about the contractions and that I felt like it would either happen today or tomorrow. We went to the 8:30 service and I had to sit out in the lobby and breathe through them at this point. We had tickets to see beauty and the beast but I knew I wouldn't be able to sit through a movie the way these contractions felt. We called my parents around 10am and told them to come over and get the boys because things were escalating quickly. I was really having to focus, breathe and moan through contractions that were 3 minutes apart.

We got to the hospital around 10:30am and got settled into triage, when they checked I was at 4cm, 80%. I had my doula meet us up there because I was already starting to struggle through contractions. My OB wanted me to stay in triage for an hour to ensure I was really in labor and progressing. After an hour of grueling contractions every 2-4 minutes, my body had barely progressed to 5cm and my cervix was still posterior and high. My OB was going to order another hour in triage but my nurses could tell I was definitely in labor and felt pity on me so I got admitted after a monster contraction.

After getting settled into my room, contractions were so strong and on top of each other that I asked to get prepped for an epidural. My body was so tense and shaky that I knew I wouldn't have much energy to keep going. The epidural got placed after about an hour and when I got checked again, my cervix had finally come to the front, still dilated to a 5. My OB came in shortly after that to check for herself and she accidentally broke my water. My doula had me switching positions every 30 minutes or so to get baby to descend and I was able to relax. After about 4 hours I got checked again and was at an 8, so close!

My doula and husband were being so patient and helpful, especially since I had been having the shakes for hours now and asking for constant massages, ha. I touched up my makeup and mentally prepped to meet our baby soon. Around 7:30pm I got checked and was complete so the nurse called my OB. We waited over 30 minutes on my OB which annoyed me, we were so anxious to meet our little one. She showed up around 8:15 and they began prepping me for delivery. I did 3 practice pushes and then it was go time, I pushed 2-3 more times and baby was out! My husband proudly announced that it was a girl and we both just started bawling. It was a really beautiful moment and I'm so glad we did team green for this pregnancy.

@Weswife: yes, and I was only pushing for 35 mins! I swear my ass hurt more after than any other part of my body. I'm still taking stool softeners as a precaution against painful poopies.

@oskarsmommy: my husband and I gave up on swaddling on day 2..we just didn't have any knack for it and our baby is a big "hands in mouth" soother so now we just sleep sack her and swaddle her with her arms out so I don't have to worry about her suffocating like I had been.

Overall, as a first time mom, I never imagined how hard the first week would be..between being in discomfort after labor, chapped nipples, and getting almost no sleep I'm finally feeling a turning point and I feel like our baby is getting into a routine. The past 2 nights she has gone down around midnight and woken me for only 2 feedings during the night and has gone back to sleep after..I swear, babies push you to the end of your sanity then they're like oh okay here's a break for you mom. I'm hoping we continue this consistency, though every night I have anxiety that she'll be up for hours in the middle of the night like the first week.

So far so good for us. My in laws treated us to a night nurse last night - holy magical land of sleep! This baby was swaddles with no fight(what!?) and slept ALL NIGHT LONG - even through the feeds. We have been having to have his sleep on our chests at night - she got him down in 5 mins!

@Beth24: if I had it to do over again, as beautiful and intimate the first part was (just there three of us - not a million people in my face asking questions, etc) I would have left earlier for sure I essentially had a home birth with a hospital delivery - as I had zero monitoring or anything. And I will say, there is something to be said for that. I now kinda get home birth - though I'm not sure I'd ever have the balls to do it. Even after what I lived through!

@MrsB2012: yes - she was also a photographer - thus the pics. She was a life save. She made us leave, and kept implying we might wanna go sooner. Without her we would have called 911 for a home delivery!

@oskarsmommy: Wow! First off that picture is amazing, it looks like it belongs in a magazine or something. Secondly that's a crazy story! Was your doula with you at your house?

I had my sweet baby Oliver, Tuesday March 21 at 11:28 am. He came fast and furiously. I looked back at my texts messages, I texted my doula at 9am that day saying I didn't see this labor going too fast, as I had on and off period like contractions since about 4 am that morning with no real pattern. Once my in-laws left, and my son was taken to school, my labor picked up real fast, contractions two minutes apart, painful, but manageable. With my son he was sunny side up, so I was waiting for the pain to get more intense before we left. Around 10:45 the contractions started ramping up and I started crying, telling. My husband and doula I was scared (transition). Contractions did get more intense, but not like I remember with my son. Then my water broke. Shit got real. We took my pants off and my doula was calm, but firm, and said we gotta get there fast. I walked out of my house in a towel, and holy shit did things happen fast. The contractions from my water being broken, and being in the car were hell. I started just wailing through them, dropping lots of f bombs, and kind of roaring like a wild animal. They were 1 min apart. The hospital was 10 mins away, but I started screaming "he is coming". My husband almost pulled over but I had the clarity of mind to tell him to keep going - but I could literally see the baby descending in my belly. I started to get really scared. They decided to pull into the ER entrance, and they got me on a gurney, this is when I was crowning. I was wheeled through the ER, into an elevator up to maternity, pretty much screaming the whole time. I pray that no one in that waiting room thought I was like a car accident patient or something. - my husband said people were freaked out. Literally the second we got in I the L&D room my body just started bearing down, I didn't push at all. It felt like I was throwing up, out the other end. I think that happened twice, and he was out.

All in all it was a bit more dramatic than I would have liked, but I am relieved that everything worked out. We are home now, and adjusting to life with 2 kids, but we love our sweet boy so mo much! Attaching a pic from my birth - was so nice to go through this pregnancy with all of you ladies!

@Weswife: It'll go away ( or shrink haha) in time. Tuck pads help a bit, advil will help with the pain and swelling. I used padsicles to help ( with my first labor as that was worse.) You can get Apple cider vinegar and put it on a cotton ball and press it on there ( it stings, but is one of the better cures.) Any hemorrhoid ointment you get off the shelf wont make it go away, you need to get a prescription to get something that will actually work. Sorry momma, they suck!
