She was a whopping 9 lbs, 0.5 oz and was 21 inches long. She came out after just 5 pushes! Our little miss Etta Owen arrived Wednesday 5/10 at 2:33pm... 3 hours after my water broke in the car! Tensions were high when her heart rate kept dropping but luckily I progressed quickly and was able to push her out in less than 5 minutes! Unlucky for me, my epidural was placed at 2:22 and she came at 2:33... so I didn't really have any meds. Haha! But surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought! And no tearing this time!!!!! (Had a 3rd degree tear last time). Our little peanut was only 5lb 8oz! Her cord was wrapped around her neck, arm, and was in a knot... contributing to her small size and why her heart rate kept dropping! When I arrived I was only 1cm dilated so it was a looong (and boring) day at the hospital, first with prostaglandins to help ripen my cervix, then with pitocin that brought on labor very gradually. Finally in the morning I was 7cm and the midwife broke my water- bam, 10 mins later she was here!
