I’m currently 30 weeks with baby girl #2 and am starting to feel the pressure with names. We have a list but there’s nothing that we both love this time around. We generally like old fashion-y, traditional names, but don’t want to pick one that is too popular right now. My top 2 picks are probably Lena and Madeleine, DH likes Ada, but we’re both kind of wishy-washy on each other’s favorites. I love the name Harper, but it doesn’t work with our last name. 🙁 DD (3) is named Bernadette, but was almost Iris, and keeps saying we should name the baby Margot, which we both kind of like. E names are out because DH already has 5 nieces and nephews whose names start with E.

What are some of your favorite girl names??

I have a day off so I'm looking at my name spreadsheets and would love your input!

If a name ends in an "el" sound, do you prefer the -el spelling or -elle ? For example Isabel vs Isabelle.

Also, what are some good middle name ideas for such a 3 syllable 'el' name? The last name is 2 syllables.

We don't know the sex of this baby so I'm trying to keep a few contenders for either way. Any names you've come across lately that you love?

Our third daughter will be arriving in a couple months and we're still stuck on a name! We like to wait until the baby's born before deciding, so we'll have a couple of options. Our daughter's names are Emaline (Emma) and Chloe. We're pretty set on the middle name Brinn after my FIL.

There are a few names we like, but I'm not sure any of them are... right?

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and am needing help with names! We had a girl names we loved (Sadie, Lucy, Greta) but found out we are having a boy and I'm really struggling to find a boy name I'm really excited about. Our other son is named Anders. Both my husband and I love the name Brooks but we can't use it for various reasons. Here is a list of names that I like - Samson, Davis, Harris, Jude (husband doesn't like), Emmett.

Any input? I'm not obsessed with any of these names, so would love to hear other suggestions too.

Thanks! :)

Someone mentioned to me recently that they gave their daughter their top 3 names and let her choose. I LOVE that idea but struggling to make it work with 2 kids. Right now DD6 is saying she wants to choose the first name and DS5 is saying he wants to choose the middle name, so it might work out.

Has anyone done anything similar? Any suggestions?

Just wondering how other people perceive this name. It’s our only contender for baby girl #3, arriving in about 3 weeks. But I don’t know if it’s too trendy, only brings the Everly brothers to mind or is just one of those made-up sounding names. Also can’t decide on a middle name. Our other daughters are Quinn and Reese.

We just found out we're having another boy and having a hard time with names. I feel like I have read through lists 1000 times at this point and still haven't found a name we've connected with.

We like shorter names, but ideally would love a name that could have a shortened version to it for a nickname (for example Joey, could be Joe). We like nature names (a name meaning connected to this would also be awesome), but are not particular about this.

Our first sons name is Wren.

Right now we like but are not excited about Leon, Seth and Levi.

Middle name is very much up in the air but will be a family name.

I know some people love choosing names - have had a list picked out since they were a kid, etc. I am not that person 😂 I'm due with baby girl in less than two weeks and don't even have a list of candidate names b/c we've procrastinated it so much 🤷‍♀️ My only real criteria is that I want people (we're in the U.S.) to be able to easily pronounce it, because the last name already has a confusing pronunciation and that's enough to subject little girl to. This is at odds with my husband, who dislikes common names. With DS, this ended in compromising on a name that is not top 50, but common enough that people have probably seen it before and can figure out pronunciation most of the time. I'd love to hear any suggestions along these lines!

We’re expecting baby #3 next month, and are team green, so we need two names! To give you an idea of our name tastes, we are drawn toward names like Theodore (Theo), Henry, Amelia, Josephine (Josie), and Clara. We aren’t using those for various reasons, but they give you an idea of our taste in names.

We already have two girls, and both girls have names that go well with the ones I listed above. We prefer names that are two syllables or longer, and are usually drawn toward more classic names. Both of our girls’ names are not super common, which I like, but they’re also heard enough that people know how to pronounce them. I’m not opposed to a more popular name if I love it though.

Okay so.. we have two girls already: Georgia and Claire. Baby #3 is also a girl, and hubby and I are finding it WAY harder to find a name this time around.

I think it's the combination of finding a name that goes with the girls' names (think Christmas cards!) as well as with our double barrel surname, that's tricky. Our surname is De Sxxxx for what it's worth!

I'd LOVE to hear some girly suggestions that you think go with the other kids. I have 2-3 contenders but I'll leave them quiet for now - because I want to see if they come up in your lists, hehe. :)

Last name sounds like Rottweiler. We are a family of uncommon names. Middle name will likely either be Semper or Callum (def. Callum if we go with Miller).

Allowing multiple votes and also open to suggestions. Must begin with a consonant and can't apparently have a vowel followed by a double consonant *eye roll* which is why Barrett was vetoed from my last post.

I think I like Miller best (a family name) but I love Semper as a middle name but Miller Semper Rottweiler has too many -er's. Or does it?

So we did agree on a boy's name... Troy. Now we are both second guessing because we did not expect this one to be a boy!

My two favorite names are Barrett and Colm (could live with Malcolm). He likes Felix (which I guess I could also live with). We both also like Knox, but worry about its staying power.

Last name sounds like Rottweiler. No names that begin with A. Everyone in the family has less-than-common names (400 or below on top 1000) but that isn't especially important... but a name like John or Daniel or Peter will seem odd.

Please give me suggestions!!!!

We are strongly considering the name Semper as a middle name for #3. OH is a marine and it is a way to honor that. I think it works well as a girl's middle name, and I think it works okay for a boy, but I am second guessing myself.

Please help me brainstorm for a girl name that:

•Doesn’t begin or end with L
•Isn’t super popular
•Doesn’t end in “-ee” or similar phonetics, like “-ie” or “-y” (like Ellie)
•Doesn’t end in “-a” or “-ah” (like Clara)
•Doesn’t end in “-er”
•My husband doesn’t roll his eyes at :silly:

So far on our list that we like: Margot, Rowan, maybe Genevieve?, Wren (I like, DH vetoed)

Full disclosure: I might delete this thread later, I don’t like the names of my littles out there! :)

I need help with middle name ideas for a girl. I'd like to name this baby after 2 of my aunts who have passed away. Their names both started with R, but neither name is one I'd really like to give our daughter. I like names that are fairly traditional but not too popular. For reference, DS's name is Spencer. We've also ruled out several names based on either negative associations or names of other family members: Rose, Riley, Ruth, and Rachel. Any ideas? Thanks!
