Was originally looking at the graham glider however when I went into west elm to order it the salesperson said they didnt recommend it as every chair they had ordered was returned within a year due to the glider base breaking away from the chair. I've looked online and I can't find ANY reviews or comments about this happening. I kind of felt like the salesperson was too lazy to special order it (I'm in Canada) and might have been trying to put me off. Any bees have issues with their chairs? Thanks so much!!

We have a 3.5 year old and a 2 year old, and their toys are mostly in the living room right now. We don’t have a playroom. I would love to have most of their toys upstairs in their bedroom instead, but not sure how that would work.

Does anyone keep their toddler’s/preschooler’s toys in their rooms and out of the main living areas? Really sick of staring at toy clutter  but not sure if it’s reasonable/realistic for kids to bring down 1 or 2 toys at a time to play with. Open to ideas!

LO is almost ready to move out of the crib and the way her room is set up, I am thinking a daybed makes most sense because I can put it in a middle of a wall like a crib. Any thoughts about why that might not be a good idea? Or anyone have one for their toddler?

What do you use as an art/homework table for your big kids (elementary school age)?

Given the likelihood of another long term remote-schooling situation, we are upping our home classroom game this year. I've already ordered my big girls (1st grade and 3rd grade) upgraded desks and chairs for individual work, and I've re-organized our playroom into more of a preschool setup that will be suited to my 3-turning-4 year old's learning needs in our basement. In that same basement space, I'd like to add some sort of table and chairs for group homework time, but also for crafting, LEGO play, etc. The little KidKraft tables we had previously just aren't enough space for 1-2 kids, let alone 3. They're all still quite small (biggest is 49"/ 44 lbs), so I'm open to solutions that are not fully adult sized, but need something bigger than typical toddler/preschooler sets.

Thanks for sharing your setup!! Links to products that are in-stock (ha! pipe dream, right?) are super appreciated!

We’ve tried to avoid doing this but our toddler is killing us on re-training sleep right now ... she’s been sleeping in this room a year without it being a problem but maybe now we need all the help we can get, especially with summer coming. Also long term her older sister may move back in there and would be nice for her to have it darkened also, so while I may tape up trash bags tomorrow I’d love something permanent!

The windows are something like 72” tall and 35” wide (not exact). Right now they have blinds installed and then we have a decorative curtain above but it’s not on a rod. Do I need to try to install one of those special bay window rods? Is there another type of solution that might work?

I’m not even really sure how to describe the problem so clearly I need help :silly:

Has anyone found a good size rectangular kids table? Look for a good height for almost 5 yo so probably 2’ high at least. Looking to get legos and stuff off the floor before the baby arrives. I keep looking at the PBK Carolina but not sure if it is worth the money. If I had the space I would just find a dining table. TIA!

I'm due with a :girl: next month - we've been doing renovations so I'm a bit behind on her room, but finally getting around to planning it. The plan is to keep her in the room as she grows older.

The biggest thing that I need to figure out now is paint color. I find this the most challenging b/c I only want to paint once, whereas I can always return things like crib sheets if they don't work.... I feel like design websites are nearly useless, as colors render so inaccurately in pictures. And I know...what actually looks good will depend on the direction of light (west), the amount of vegetation outside the windows, the season, etc, etc....But that aside, I'm looking for color palettes that people have used IRL and loved. And particularly interested in paint colors (wall, ceiling, or both) that read as neutral and are easy to redecorate around, without being too clinical or sterile.

Thank you!

Hey, Bees! I'm so curious what everyone's experience is on this. Did your parents or in-laws make their own complete nursery with crib, changing table, etc. etc. in their own home?

I ask because:
My MIL said we don't have to worry about bringing our pack-and-play come the holidays (we will visit for a weekend) because she's converting her daughter's room into a full nursery for our baby. Her daughter lives in town and stays over regularly; this is her childhood bedroom. Apparently SIL wasn't thrilled to hear she was losing her room; I don't blame her! We'd assumed we would put our pack-and-play in our room with us (DH's childhood room). We live 8 hours away and only stay at their house twice a year for weekend lengths. DH's grandparents didn't have a room for him at their house and my grandparents didn't either when we were kids, so we were surprised by this.

If I'm being honest, I felt a little weirded out, but I'm not sure if this is because it's so different from my own childhood or maybe I'm being a first-time mama and hormonal! My first thought was that SIL is not having kids (the room will solely belong to our kid) and MIL isn't going to be babysitting for us every day because we live far away, so this felt excessive. (Buying a crib to be used so briefly?!) Oddly, I had the thought, "It's like she thinks it's *her* baby."

I'm so curious what you Bees have experienced!

With our upcoming move I have the opportunity to give LO a room refresh that takes his tastes into account. Although I read to keep his room as close to what it looks like in the old house to ease the transition. He is not asking to change his room, but just over the weekend I turned on these super cool lamps in his room and he promptly said NO! and turned them off. I asked is his lamps make him happy or sad- sad. His room is fairly neutral with pops of blue and orange. All of his lamps are orange. He has an animal theme going in terms of artwork. When given the option to go to the zoo or aquarium he’d rather do something else. His favorite colors are yellow and green and he has quite a few interests and superheros seem to reign. Basically, his room doesn’t reflect him.

We all know soon-to-be 3 year olds and older kids have preferences and opinions. When did you take your LO’s preferences into account when it came to decorating?

Along the lines of my previous question about furniture, if your crib converts to a full size bed/ headboard and foot board, did you convert it and use it at a full?

We put my older LO directly into our old guest bed (previously mine and dogs bed) when she started climbing out, since baby’s sister needed the crib anyway. The younger one is 3 now and expressing an interest in a big bed. We haven’t decided what we will do. I got the crib in a maple color to match a dresser my mom gave us, that had been mine as a child. She has more furniture that matches but it is 30 years old, so I’m not dead set on using that. I’m sure we will take the side off the crib first which will buy us longer to decide. I just wonder how common it is for people to use it as a big bed as advertised.

Weboughtthe crib because I liked it and it matches. Didn’t care so much whether it converted.

What are some ideas for Christmas gifts for my soon to be one year old nephew (ten months at Christmas time) that don’t take up a ton of space?

This is definitely a "someday" project that won't happen soon, but I wondered what you guys thought of it.

We have a kitchen where everything (cabinets, island, fridge, etc) is under a normal ceiling. Then there's a breakfast area where the ceiling opens up so you can see into the top floor/loft.

We don't use the area of the kitchen that is open to the second floor. We already have an island big enough for three stools, and the dining room is adjacent with a table for eight, so adding a breakfast table seems redundant. We're talking about eventually putting a play kitchen and a kid table there, but there will still be space unused.

We're thinking about installing a slide from the loft down into the kitchen. The only difficult part would be removing the wood spokes to make room for the.slide mount without damaging the wood spokes in case we take out the slide later (the wood is stained so I'm afraid it'd be hard to get an exact match if we tried to replicate them). The slide is about $500, so not cheap, but not unthinkable. It supports up to 250 lbs, so it'll be used a long time. We live in an area where it's super hot and buggy during the summer, so this would give our kids more options for indoor play.

If you had the budget and logistics to allow it, would you do it? Is there anything I'm overlooking? Aside from the fact that it's kind of gaudy. :silly: I’d love to have an aluminum spiral slide like the picture below, but I haven’t been able to find one below $1k.

I'm attaching a picture of the slide attached to a deck to give an idea of how it would work.

Need some design help... This photo is the current state of DD's room. She is currently in a crib. When LO2 comes, baby will be in our room. When they share a room, LO2 will go into the crib and DD will get a toddler bed (presumably). I don't know where to put these or how to make everything fit... We have a short but wide dresser right now with the changing pad on top. We could get rid of it and get a tall dresser instead (will lose a little drawer space) and put that where the crib is. Not sure if I'm missing an option... Ideas??

DH and I were lazy getting ready for the baby (plus he slept in our room for 3+ months).

Right now, the camera for his monitor is sitting on a bookshelf across from his crib. But that makes it hard to see *him* at night (the night vision "focuses" on the crib slats) and he's started moving more (this morning he was turned 90 degrees from how I set him down)

So I think we obviously need to mount the camera above the crib.

Did you do this by using the screw hole in the camera? Command strips in case you needed to reposition it? A tiny shelf meant just for monitor cameras? A decorative wall shelf?

Hi all, I’m very newly pregnant with my second babe due 2 weeks after #1 turns 2 years old.
We’ve started thinking about sleeping arrangements, the original plan to transition #1 to a toddler bed to free up the crib for #2, but now I’m thinking that might not be the best idea.
#1 loooooooves her sleep and her bed. I’m apprehensive about taking that away, as well as taking a method of containing her away! Plus, she’ll JUST be 2, seems so little to me.

What did you all do? 2 cribs or early transition? Regrets? Experiences?
Thanks!

I'm looking to order a crib sheet and diaper pad cover from etsy, but can't figure out if I should go with the cotton or minky. It's about a 30 dollar difference, so I am not sure if it's really worth it. I basically have zero experience with minky.

Has anyone found that they fit the mattress very small? I just got one for new baby’s nursery and it’s so tight that it barely fits around the sides. I’m a little worried that it’ll slip off. Any experience with them? Thank you!

Ugh! I’ve looked everywhere and can’t seem to find a simple little dresser with changing table (or one that I can have a changing pad on top of) that has decent reviews and is in my budget (under $400). Any recommendations? Thank you!

I posted some pics of LO's room on Project Nursery over the holidays. With moving and all when LO was born the room turned out to be alot different than what I initially planned given my indecisiveness coupled with DH's input after LO arrived. :silly:

Check it out here: https://projectnursery.com/projects/bears-menagerie/

Currently decorating a nursery for DD2 (due in February). I've decided on a loose theme of A Midsummer Night's dream. One wall will be a floral mural (see picture). I'm also going to hang up a print of the famous quote from the play. Besides butterflies and woodland fairies what else do you imagine in a nursery like this? All inspiration is welcome.

I loved a glider for my first but I'm considering an armchair or chair and a half that pulls out to a twin size bed instead, since new baby's room is our current guest room. I'd probably have a pouf-style ottoman or something as well so I can still put my feet up.

Not wondering how much you love your glider, more looking for input from anyone who ONLY had an armchair and if it was still comfy and baby was happy. Bonus if you had a glider in one room and now have only an armchair :-) But I know that probably drastically whittles down the sample size.
