This has been asked before, but years ago!

Where do you order your photobooks from? Bonus if you are in Canada... I like to be able to customize the layouts and I would love it if they had lay-flat pages.

I used Shutterfly in the past but I hate their new editor.

Has anyone used amazon photo services for prints or photo books? I didn't know they offered those services and just stumbled upon it yesterday. I've used Shutterfly mostly in the past but I always get frustrated/stressed wondering if I'm getting the best deal since they always have different kinds of sales. In that sense amazon seems really nice and convenient but I'm curious about the quality.

Does anyone have a sports "action camera" they love (or hate)? Would you please tell me why?

I'm looking at one for DH for Christmas, and am considering primarily a GoPro (willing to back as far as a Hero7, but need 4K) or a DJI Osmo. He'd primarily use it while road biking and a few ski trips per year. The waterproof features will be appreciated for sailing/in the pool/at the beach, but we're not into SCUBA or surfing, so depth capabilities don't matter.

Our kids will totally want to mess with it/have us record them, but they don't do any "extreme" sports beyond those already mentioned above.

Thanks for any insight from people who already own these!

I impulse booked a photo session for my family for this weekend. I’m still on the fence about whether it’s the right thing, but it’s outside at a Christmas tree farm and I really want good Christmas card photos. It’s going to be ~40 degrees, so we’ll all be in dark jeans and coats. DH has a black leather jacket that he loves, I have a black/white tweed jacket and DD has a red/black Buffalo check jacket. DD will have a red or white hat and I’m planning a red scarf, but DH’s winter hat is dark green and I’m wondering if I should get him a red or burgundy one (he doesn’t love bright colors) so he looks like he fits. What do people think? Or he can just not wear a hat and I feel like it would be fine but I don’t want him to get cold.

Quick opinions needed! We have photos tomorrow and I'm not the best at picking out outfits. I think I have everything set, but wondering if DH should wear khaki pants or jeans. I like the color of the khakis, but then I'm wondering if my jeans will look too casual. I don't really have other pants for myself that I'm happy with. Here's the outfits with DH having khakis.

Thanks for the help! I'm sure I'm over thinking it, but it's stressing me out.

We're planning our annual family photo shoot, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 18. We're going to a local botanical garden that has a coniferous garden to hopefully give us that "Christmas" look despite it otherwise being a beautiful display of Fall colors right now.

If all goes well with our NIPT (Nov 22) and the photo shoot, the plan is to use our cards and these photos to announce our pregnancy.

I have a dress for DD (2.5), and a probable dress for me (I'll wear some kind of red)... the question is - what do I put DH in? Goal is relaxed look, not too fussy or formal.

Thanks!

I’m never happy with how my kids’ back to school signs look when I write them with chalk; but I’m not willing to buy customized signs each year. I’ve heard moms say they have their kids hold a blank chalkboard sign, then add the text later with an app. Smart idea!! Anyone here do that, and have a favorite app? I’m working with signs with a few blanks to fill in, so need some flexibility with text placement.

The previous post by agold got me thinking again how I need to work on my photo books. DS1 is 6 and I only have done his first year!

I know the reason I haven’t done more is I’m not happy with how I did his. I did a book of his first 6 months originally and all I put it in were his birth stats. I then did a second book of his second six months. I didn’t do any captions of what anything is such as firsts. I wish I had included a few pregnancy photos and did it more of a baby book.

Would you redo this? Or just move on and continue with yearly family books?

I’m finally getting around to making a first year photo book for each of my girls. My question is this - do you end your first year book with the first birthday party pictures, or do you include the first birthday celebration in the second book?

Secondary question - if you have more than one kid, do you at some point just make one family year book? I don’t know how I can do a solo second book for my first girl when it end up including my second girl, or how I make a solo first year book for second girl, when her whole life includes the first girl.

Family photoshoot in early June. I think I know what I'm wearing - the blue maxi has a lot of colors in it but I'm hoping my 2 year old daughter will wear pink (although open to suggestions!) I have some gapcash to spend so here are a few options. I would really appreciate any thoughts you can send my way!

I'm going to comment with the other 2 little girl dress options since I'm limited on amount of pics.

I'm not sure how to direct my husband, either - I had originally thought his grey suit but that might be too formal. Maybe a light blue shirt and grey slacks, or khakis?

Thanks, bees!

Anyone have a reco for a family photographer in North Jersey who shoots in natural light (no studio portraits). I think a 1hr/1outfit/1 location shoot would be perfect.

We used Mypublisher for years, and we loved the quality. When they went out of business last year, we tried Shutterfly. I'm not loving it. Are there any album companies out there similar to Mypublisher?

What I liked about Mypublisher:

Layflat pages
Great photo quality
Thick pages that were laminated
The option to remove the album logo
Easily make a 100 page book

With Shutterfly, I felt the print quality wasn't up to par, and I didn't like the thickness or feel of the pages.

Any suggestions are welcome! I usually try to start working on our yearly album in late October so we can finish in time for new years sales.

I need style help for family beach photos! DDs are 2, 4, and 6. Options include:

A) big girls in rainbow stripe dresses, baby in pink subsist or white eyelet dress

B) little girls in white eyelet dresses, big sis in either solid pink or chambray dress

C) all three girls in pink HA swish dresses, or each girl in a different color of that same dress.

D) pastel jean shorts and white embroidered tops for big girls; ??? For baby

I’ve also got other sunsuit options for the baby, including chambray, so if you don’t like what you see, I’m not limited to these options! I don’t have much time to make new purchases, though (one week).

DH will wear khakis/khaki shorts and I white top, I’m plNning on white skinny ankle jeans and a top wow irk with whatever the girls wear (or I could do a white skirt, but didn’t want to risk it blowing).

Thanks for any ideas! I’m usually ok at this, but am trying to minimize what I pack since this will be happening on vacation!!

I know many of you often print photo albums, annual family albums, etc. I'm a photo album drop out. I started actual physical photo albums but decided that was not sustainable. I will still print some pictures but annual printed books for each child will be what I do going forward.

So....my daughter is 3-1/2 and I have some catching up to do. As I have been working on the albums I can't help but wonder what your method is. I'm so type A I'm wondering if I have the right number of photos on a page, if my backgrounds are coordinating, etc. How do you get in, get out and get a quality, decent looking album?

I know once I catch up it won't be so bad...it's just the getting there part that's taking awhile!

...with the old ones when you get new ones? Add onto a gallery wall? Move to a less prominent spot in the house? Put away in storage?

Planning on doing family photos on an upcoming vacation...our last pro photos as a complete family are from when my now 4 year old was a newborn baby...we now have a third “baby” who is 2+ years, haha, so clearly it’s time...but they’re great photos. I enjoy having photos of my kids at all ages displayed, but probably don’t large ones that are multiple years old in places other people see them, right?

I know a lot of people miss My Publisher and their free extra pages deal. I just got an email from Mixbook that they have free extra pages up to 99 pages! I wish I had my yearly book ready because I haven’t seen that deal before. Code MERRYPAGES. Thought I would share!

I am starting to work on a baby album photobook for my twins.

My husband took this awesome birth photo of Baby B, and I can’t decide whether or not to include it in the album. The photo captures the moment she was born and before we clipped the cord. So, it is kind of graphic.

In the photo, she is crying and covered in blood, held by my OB’s surgical glove-covered hands, with her umbilical cord still attached to her belly button.

The photo is cropped so that you can only see the baby. You can’t see me but it is obvious that the cord is not cut. Plus, again, she is covered in blood because that is how she was born.

Anyway, I think it is an amazing photo but my gut says to leave it out of the album because it is graphic.

Thoughts?

I want to get a sitter session/6 month photos of my second baby girl. I did a full legit sitter session for my first girl with a great photographer, but I don't have the time or money to do it again for this second baby. (Poor second child problems!) Have any of you been to the little photo studios inside places like Sears, Buy Buy Baby or JC Penny? Do you have any recommendations for a place like that?

If you’ve had professional family pictures done, what do you do with the pictures? Just put them in a holiday card? Print them and showcase in your home? Print an lambing?

We’ve had a few over the years- a couple pics were used for Christmas cards or birth announcements each time. Then I’ve printed out a photo to display in a frame here or there. A couple years ago we got really good pics and I did a small gallery wall in our living room which I love. We just had another one and I got some really great photos. Not sure what to do with them besides our Christmas cards- which are already done and printed! I may keep the lay out of the gallery wall but swap in some photos from this session instead of the last one.

From what I’ve heard, AdormaPix doesn’t do big sales often. Until November 30, you can get 20% off anything with the code PIXFBNEW4.

They are also doing free shipping this weekend on orders over $35 with the code SHIP35 but I’m not sure if they stack.

We’re ordering a 20 page album of our yearly family photos. It’s going to be so good, you guys!

DH is going to his dad's bday party this weekend.

Have you had a same day photo book printed that wasn't bad, software was easy to use? Doesn't have to be highest quality, I just need to be able to finish it tonight and pick it up tomorrow. Suggestions?

CVS can, just wondering if anyone has specific suggestions besides that.
