I unfortunately have a uterine prolapse (I’m 4 weeks postpartum). I am an avid runner and am devastated. Running has been a huge part of my life since I was 14 and prior to pregnancy I was running 30-40 miles a week at 7:30-8:30 pace plus workouts. It’s also how I socialize. I even met my husband because we were both on the XC team in college.

Has anyone been able to successfully return to running after a prolapse? I have my first PT appointment today so hope to learn more, but I have read that running slower, for shorter distances, and not on hills can help—but of course I like to run faster, long distances, and the beautiful hilly routes around here!

I had baby #3 on March 11th in a quick and uncomplicated delivery. The baby is now almost 2 weeks old and yesterday and today I’ve been having an increase in bleeding (sorry to be TMI - but it’s bright red and heavier than it’s been in the last week). I had some postpartum complications with my last pregnancy (retained placenta; bled for 6 months) so I’m a little anxious about what is normal and what isn’t. Dr. Google says that the bleeding should be light and brown by now. My doctor said I should call if I’m soaking a pad in an hour (which I’m not but I am wearing adult diapers so it would take a fair amount of blood to do that). Anyways, I would love any feedback on what is normal since my last experience was anything but normal.

Has anyone here had a postpartum uterine infection? I had babe #3 last Monday, and my recovery this time has been more challenging than with my first two. I’ve been dealing with persistent high blood pressure, which they’ve been watching, and now I’m beginning to wonder if I have an infection. My two signs are pain in my lower abdomen that isn’t going away as well as an off smell to my discharge. I haven’t had a fever which I feel like is a good sign, and is why I didn’t press to be seen sooner.

I did call our doctor’s office today and am going in tomorrow, but in the meantime I’m nervous. Has anyone here had a uterine infection without a fever? If you had one, how long did it take to clear it up?

This is my second and I don’t like the look of my tummy. I’m only one month postpartum but I know it will never be the same.

We are going away in a few months and I won’t be wearing a bikini. I feel like I can never be in one. My belly button isn’t the same(wasn’t after our first) and I have some loose skin and stretch marks(very light though) Loose skin -It’s noticeable when I bend over. My tummy is flat but it’s not “attractive “. I haven’t showed DH and dread being naked around him 😢.

I often find myself crying a lot about my looks.

I’m eating the best I can which is fairly healthy, walking and eventually will go back to my workout routine.

I’m sorry to sound vain that’s not my intention. I’m very very happy to have these kids but these feeling have been so overwhelming.

My LO is 10 weeks old. I've been on the minipill since 6 weeks pp. My period started a week later (well, bleeding heavy enough to be a period.) This part isn't unusual--I've started 2 months pp with all three kiddos. It lasted about a week. Then I had about a week without bleeding and now it has started again--still quite heavy. I do not recall this kind of bleeding when I started the minipill with my first two. Any insight? Is this common? If I call my doc, I'm pretty sure she'd have me come in, which is fine if I need to, but if it's common and/or expected, Id rather not. Just looking for insight before I call.

Has anyone dealt with postpartum treatment for incontinence? Who did you see? I have an appointment with a urologist but wasn't sure if I needed a pelvic PT or what? I think I have stress incontinence - I pee a little with powerful sneezes or coughs, on the trampoline (which I've done all of once but still!) and have to really control it when running.

Ok so I need advice from people who have dealt with this. I am concerned and yes I should probably contact the doctor but I'm scared! So I had a vaginal delivery 5 weeks ago and I tore in two places. My perinum and labia... ouch. My kid was huge. My question is did anyone one tear on their labia like me and how did the healing process go? And bleeding how long does it last?

I was bleeding and then I stopped for a few days and now I have bleeding again. Not a ton but I don't understand. I am wondering if I am some how upsetting my stitches and bleeding from those instead. Also my stitches hurt... which I don't know if that's normal. I mean I think since it's where they are they run against my underwear which irritates them causing pain.. but I am not sure I am too afraid to look down there! Any advice?

Ps I have my six week check up this week...

I'm 6 weeks postpartum and recovery is rough! Even though it was only a second degree tear, I tore in 3 lengths from perineum to cervix. Ouch! It's been tough, and taking much longer than I ever anticipated. I still can't go for walks without paying the price later. I'm still having some pelvic floor pain and heaviness (particularly after bowel movements) and at my appointment my midwife prescribed Estrogen because my healing from the stitches is looking rough. Does anyone have experience with estrogen cream? Did it help? How so? Did it hurt your milk supply?

Sigh. I'm wondering if anyone has a similar experience with slow recovery and words of encouragement that it gets better. I feel like I'll never be the same. Sexual activity feels like it's months away at this point. :( Exercise feels like it's not happening soon. My muscles are starting to atrophy. I feel like I'm wearing a heavy diaper and my insides are falling out whenever I have to stand 5-10 minutes. I do my kegels. I'm also looking to get a pelvic floor pt appointment. I've got six weeks left in maternity leave and I'm starting to worry I won't feel better by the end. I had no idea an otherwise normal vaginal birth recovery would take so long!

Does anyone have experience with a retained placenta or placenta accreta diagnosed postpartum? After an uptick in postpartum bleeding and expelling large clots at 4 weeks postpartum, I went to my ob for an ultrasound. They observed a piece of placental tissue that was 4 cm long and I've been given some misoprostol to try to get the tissue to expel (presumably this would work with a fragment but not placenta accreta). The doctor said she wasn't too optimistic about it working, though, so I'm also supposed to see a fertility specialist who would likely monitor it and then perform a procedure similar to a d&c with a camera. I had a d&c last December and there is concern that another normal d&c would cause a lot of damage to my uterus. I was just curious about whether others have had similar postpartum diagnoses and how they were ultimately resolved. Also, from my researching on the internet (I know I shouldn't!) it looks like placenta accreta is usually diagnosed before birth. Has anybody else had a placenta accreta diagnosis postpartum?

I've read SO many posts recently about postpartum care (which, honestly, have now left me a bit scarred and terrified of what's to come!) with huge shopping lists of all the things you need, but I still find I'm not sure what to get/what I'll really need. Would love to hear from experienced moms about what was your lifesaver, or what's unnecessary, or what you wish you'd stocked up on ahead of time.

Specifically:
-Pads vs Depends (I already have a bunch of Kotex overnights but am wondering if people preferred having Depends?)
-Tucks pads... did you use them? How did you use them?
-Ice packs for your lady bits... what did you use/how did you make them? I've seen a million ideas/"recipes" online and frankly I just want whatever is the easiest solution because I'm feeling pretty lazy right now :)
-Earth Mama bottom spray/other similar products... yea or nay?

Anything else?
Thanks!

So, two weeks ago, I was induced at 37 weeks for high blood pressure, very similarly to the delivery of my daughter four years ago. After my older daughter's birth, my bp returned to normal right away, but now, almost two weeks later, it's still high. I've been prescribed lebatalol to bring it down but the side effects have me feeling so weird. I am so hopeful that things will resolve soon--any experience?

Since everyone was so helpful in my last post, I have another question...

I am 9 weeks from my vaginal delivery, no complication and slight tearing (2nd degree). I was bleeding for 1 week after birth (light) and every day from birth it was lighter in color and more of a clear/cloudy mucus discharge. It slowly turned into a greenish/yellow discharge. I still have this greenish/yellowish discharge. It isn't a huge amount, but enough that I still have to wear a light pad 9 weeks postpartum. Anyone else have this? When does it go away?

I haven't had a real period yet. There was 3 days where the mucus turned brownish (very light) and now is back to greenish/yellow. Maybe that was a period, but it was not accompanied by any other period symptoms, no cramps, etc...?

I saw my OB at my 6 week visit and she said I am still healing and not to worry about the mucus. I wasn't a huge fan of my OB and won't use her again. I felt she was very relaxed about everything and not proactive. For example, I started to have really bad swelling, was super uncomfortable, and had high blood pressure the last month of my pregnancy and she didn't do anything. I complained every appointment and she was very relaxed about it. If I wasn't that far in I would have changed at that point.

I guess my question is, is this mucus still at 9 weeks postpartum at all normal? Did anyone else have this and when does it go away? Would you suggest that I see another OB if it doesn't go away soon?

I am 8 months pp and am feeling pretty discouraged about my belly. It's not just my stretch marks but it's the saggy, loose skin. I am probably 10+ lbs below my pp weight but the loose skin makes buying clothes difficult. This isn't a pic of me but looks very similar. I don't expect my body to be the same after carrying a nearly 10 lb baby and he was absolutely worth it all (of course. )

Aside from a tummy tuck, what can I do? Do I just need to be patient? Specific exercises? Get over it?

Has anyone had experience with postpartum SPD? I've had significant back/walking/rolling over pain for a year now since my son's birth and found SPD googling my symptoms. I had a difficult delivery of a rather large baby, and seem to fit the profile for the disorder. I've actually been to see a pelvic floor PT once to help with stress urinary incontinence and want to go back to talk about SPD now. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this postpartum? It seems rare but sounds exactly like what I've been dealing with.

I'd be grateful to hear from anyone with experience!

If you made the homemade "padsicles" what were your thoughts - worth it or no? I didn't make any when I had DD and once I got home I dearly missed the ones from the hospital since I had a bad 2nd degree tear. I'm thinking about making some this time, and while I'm sure they won't be as good as the "industrial strength" ones I want to make sure they're worth it. Do they stay cold as long? Any tips?

My OB said I shouldn't resume yoga or any exercise until my bleeding has completely stopped for at least 24 hours. So, just wondering.... when did yours?

And if you want to get more specific, you could comment with how long you were wearing pads vs. pantiliners, etc; and any factors that influenced this (obviously I assume more tearing=more time bleeding).

yay for TMI!

25 hour horrible labor resulting in birth on Wenesday morning (yay!). Low hemoglobin, platelets, blood pressure, high heart rate. Had 2 transfusions of blood Wednesday night and continuous IV fluids labor through Thursday night. Discharged Friday afternoon. Standard bleeding but passed a baseball sized clot this morning so ended up back in the ER. CBC came back okd and my ob told the er I was ok to go home (which is want I desperately wanted.) Technically at risk for PPH / maybe this qualifies but not sure.

Breastfeeding is so difficult. I'm so tired. Trying to stay as hydrated as possible, but my body has taken a huge toll. We had the right amount of wet and dirty diapers up until today. We had to supplement with formula twice yesterday and once this morning when I was in the ER.

Latch is good but no milk yet on day 4. There is some colostrum. At the ped right now for a weigh-in as required for hospital discharge. Worried my postpartum issues / hemmorage will delay things significanrly. Similar experiences out there?

My induction started on Saturday and I was discharged on Tuesday. I developed a surgery induced anemia (because of my c-section) so I needed a blood transfusion. I think that prolonged my stay by one night.

I stayed 3 nights/4 days. If you count my whole hospital day because my water broke at 28 weeks, I was in the hospital for 45 days. :|

ETA: Mommy brain! My induction was on Friday and I had the babies on Saturday. I stayed 4 nights/5 days.

How long did you take colace after birth? I can't remember what I did last time. So far at 1 week post partum I thankfully haven't had any issues, but I've been taking it twice a day. No strong painkillers, just Motrin. I'm a little afraid to stop it even though I haven't had any issues!

Ha- I'll see all the happy Christmas Eve posts and raise a poop one. :silly:

Did you use one, especially if you had a c-section? If so, what kind and for how long? When did you start wearing it? Did you have to buy one or did your hospital provide it?

My coworkers and I were talking today about delivery and we were split about 50/50 if our spouse stayed with us at the hospital post-delivery. For both my girls, DH stayed with me all 3 (4 with DD1) nights to help since i was recovering from my c-section. DD1 was in NICU so he'd go down with me every feeding, and DD2 he would change her diapers and hand her to me for feedings. It was a lifesaver and i liked that he went through the process with me.
