Hello all,

At my check-up yesterday, my Ob said she'd like me to begin daily baby aspirin, as it had been shown to prevent pre-eclampsia, especially in older mothers (I'm 41). I came home and tried to read up on it and the evidence doesn't seem as solid as what she'd suggested. It seems it's also implicated in heat duct defects if used in the 3rd trimester. Other than my age, I don't have any other risk factors for pre-e.

Did any of you do daily baby aspirin during pregnancy? Do you have any feelings or experiences to share on the matter?

Has anyone had their NIPT through Myriad? It’s called Prequel. This is my third baby and all three tests have been with different labs. Just curious how quickly you got your results and/or if there were any problems or issues. Thanks!

I'm 39, expecting #3 and I have a couple weeks to go until my NT scan. So far I have not opted for the panorama as its not covered in my province and costs $550. Am starting to worry more and more about the risk of genetic abnormalities due to my age.

Can anyone relate?

I can't believe I'm even asking this as I thought I'd give birth a month ago, but I'm here at 39w4d with absolutely zero signs of labor. ZERO. ( I was on progesterone injections until 36w5d to prevent preterm birth which I arguably didn't even need). I have an OB appt tomorrow to talk options if nothing moves along in the next week. Would you ask for a sweep? I would really like to avoid an induction. I'm not terribly uncomfortable but I feel like I could use a little push (so to speak).
What was your membrane sweep experience?

Anyone have experience with diagnosed Polyhydramnios early on in the pregnancy (2nd or 3rd trimester)? I'm 40, was diagnosed with Polyhydramnios late in my 2nd trimester and now my OB's are suggesting weekly ultrasounds to monitor the baby's health. It seems so excessive and I"m worried insurance won't cover it.

Anyone have experience with this? How did your insurance handle it?

I'm totally getting ahead of myself, since I just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant, but I was wondering when people told others versus your older LOs? DS will be 5 soon. I think I'd like to wait to tell him until we have results of NIPT, just in case there are major chromosomal problems. But I think I'd like to tell my parents and a few close friends before that. I just feel weird having people know without our son knowing. But the real reason :silly: is that I would love to tell our friends and family by having him wear a cute big brother shirt. And I obviously can't do that if he doesn't know.
TL; DR: for moms over 35, when did you tell friends and family versus older LOs? Thanks!

I am very unexpectedly and very joyously pregnant- only 5 weeks. But I am a NERVOUS WRECK. I am so scared of miscarrying (had a pretty traumatic MC at 8w, D&C 12w last year) so any environmental concern is pushing me over the edge in terms of worrying...
My issue is I am teaching in a makeshift classroom- the old gym- while my school is under construction. (There is no dust or fumes or anything and you really wouldn't even know construction is going on.) However, since it's been warm, this old "classroom" I'm in SMELLS- not super duper strong, but toxic- like fertilizer and like asphalt sort of. The students haven't noticed it. I don't have a headache or feel sick but I am convinced it could harm the baby.
I am prone to obsessive thoughts and anxiety and I feel like it's pretty bad this pregnancy- I don't want to leave my house if my neighbors use fertilizer, I won't do yoga b/c I'd be upside down, I won't swim etc. I'm being REALLY paranoid. I even left school early yesterday without permission.
Is this irrational? It's crazy to think a sort of funky smell is poisoning me and is going to hurt my unborn baby right???

I'm almost 37 years old and 32 weeks pregnant - so far, I've just had the NIPT blood work done. I'll be having a growth scan tomorrow though, which I think is pretty standard for AMA pregnancies. If that's fine I don't think I'll have any extra monitoring this pregnancy, though my OB did say she would induce me at 39 weeks if I choose (but she'd also let me go to due date).

Have you had any add'l monitoring in your AMA pregnancy?

I saw my doctor for a post-op appt. today and she told me DH and I could start TTCing in the next 3-6 months. She said she's comfortable with 3 months (even though some docs recommend waiting 6 and sometimes 9 months after some kind of uterine surgery like I had) but she doesn't want to tell me to wait 9 months when age will also play a factor in TTCing.

DH and I have been on the fence, mostly leaning towards one more (LO is 4) but we're off the fence and have a timeline now. But I feel an intense amount of pressure that I didn't feel the first time around. I'm 38.

Anyone else have TTCing with a "geriatric uterus"? Do you feel like you're in a race against time?

I can get the Maternity21 test as early as 10 weeks and supposedly the results take 7-10 days to receive. Was that your experience with NIPT testing? My OB has an in-house lab that draws the blood, but I'm sure they send it off site for the actual testing.

We have a high deductible plan, so the Maternity21 test will cost us $800....but that will apply towards my deductible. Crazy. It sucks because the company that does the testing will only charge you $200 if your insurance doesn't cover it. Doesn't seem to make much sense.

Elderly Primigravida- a woman who becomes pregnant for the first time after the age of 34.

I guess it was on my paperwork in error since my first was born when I was 32? Or maybe it still applies to me since I am pregnant at 35? Sounds terrible!

Because I'm AMA, my genetic counselor recommended a test called Verifi that checks for Down syndrome, trisomy 18 & 13. It also comes with some fun news...the gender! I guess it's 99.9% accurate on gender. So, although waiting for such important/scary test results, I'm so excited that we'll know boy or girl at 13 weeks instead of 18/20! My NT scan showed no signs of any issues and the baby looked great, so I'm not as worried as I thought I'd be, waiting for the blood test result.

Anyway, just wanted to share!

Will you have the MateniT21 test done? I plan to with my next since insurance covers it and it can detect all abnormalities with a perfectly safe blood test! It's also nice I find out the sex at 12 weeks instead of 20 and know definitively that its accurate unlike an ultrasound.

Hi mommies! Congrats on your pregnancies.

Wondering if any of you are 35+, pregnant with your first. How long did it take you? Did your age worry you? Did you need fertility treatment?

I'm 35 and have been TTC for over a year. I'm just feeling so down and frustrated.

Thank you!!!
