As many of you know, I’ve been struggling very badly with my mental health. It’s gotten worse. I’m 30 weeks pregnant with our third. I’m going to call the doctor tomorrow to ask about induction. I can’t live like this anymore and can’t get the help I need while pregnant (certain medications, etc.). I’m assuming she’ll say no. But I feel so desperate. What would you do in my case?

Any tips for managing umbilical hernia pain during pregnancy? My hernia isn’t very big so I want to wait to repair it but I’m starting to get discomfort. A belly band seems to help but also makes me nauseous. I’m not sure if reduced activity is recommended so feedback would be great. I’m gaining weight faster than I’d like with this pregnancy so don’t want to back off activity unless it will help (I did stop running).

Tips are highly appreciated!

I need a gut check... a couple weeks ago, DH announces that his brother and my 4 year nephew want to fly in from out of town and stay with us for a weekend. During the weekend that was selected, I will be 35 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and I'm already am pretty uncomfortable working full time, chasing around my 2 kids, and being in the late stages of pregnancy. I asked if BIL could wait until summer when the baby was here and we'd hit our stride as a family of 5. Despite my protests, my husband and BIL still plan for the visit for when I'm 35 weeks. Flash forward two weeks and the weekend of the visit is coming up in a few days. When I asked what they planned to do over the visit, my husband let it slip that it will depend on BIL's two year old daughter's nap schedule (who apparently is now also coming with BIL and the 4 year old!). My husband admitted he was afraid to tell me that the two year old was also coming so he just didn't say anything. I should also note that on the Saturday night of the weekend, my husband and I had committed (before BIL planned to come in town) to play on a trivia team at an event at our son's school. Because I haven't been feeling so hot, I had said that I would just stay home and that BIL could take my place and I'd watch my two kids and nephew and just catch up on some sleep. Now they are springing on me the task of watching 4 kids by myself at 35 weeks pregnant? I'm super irritated. Is it just me or is this a really insensitive to ask a person this far along in pregnancy to play hostess and babysitter (both of DH and BIL)? FWIW, I have a history of my water breaking at 38 weeks and we really need this weekend to get ready for the baby. The baby's nursery is still our home office... Just curious if I'm hormonal and/or overreacting or if others think this is as insensitive as I do.

After years of trying to figure out what was wrong on my own I finally started seeing a therapist and she told me I clearly have anxiety and am probably depressed. This goes back to my childhood (I completely forgot my mom and doctor had discussed going on medication when I was in HS and I refused—ugh) so I am so relieved to finally have an answer, and will be talking to my primary in 2 weeks about going on medication. However we’re probably going to start TTC sometime in the next year and I want to choose something I can stay on while pregnant (I know it can take a while to find the right medication). I don’t love my doctor but am stuck with her for now, so want to go in with some knowledge of my own. Any tips for anxiety and depression medications that are safe during pregnancy?

Did you have to get anything done besides routine cleaning?

I had a pretty bad toothache over the weekend and worried that it might be infected (going to the dentist this week). I'm 11 weeks and my OB said wait if you can, but of course treat issues right away! She said both x-rays and numbing agents are okay (and said dentist can always reach her to re-confirm).

Just want to see if others have had more extensive dental issues that needed to be taken care of during pregnancy and how it all turned out!

Dang sorry ladies. I swear this has been the craziest pregnancy ever. I went from one day of extremely high blood pressure to now dealing with almost too low blood pressure. Now it's still in the "ideal" range but its gets for me. This morning it was 103/62. I felt so dizzy and still do this morning and this morning was nausous. I've been dealing with dizziness for a few weeks but though it was nothing. Should I be concerned or just brush it off. I've had some swelling in my legs that sometimes pits especially toward my ankles. So I thought I was dealing with high blood pressure but I think I'm dealing with the opposite.

I just dont want to be the pregnant lady who cried wolf or freakout too many times. I just dont feel right sometimes. My next appointment isnt till next Friday. I've called once before about my edema. I definitely deal with white coat syndrome and get some much axienty making phone calls to the nurse and asking questions.

I was dealing with blood pressure that was kinda high for me. It was in the 136/96 range and a smidge higher here and there. My norm is 120/70. I had dizziness today and I threw up randomly. I called the doctor and they told me to go in and be checked. My BP when I got there was 181/96. Fortunately it did go down to about 149/80. They did a few tests and said I did have "a small trace of protein in my urine"
They sent me home with stuff to do a 24 hour urine collection and I have to go back tomorrow and be monitored again.
Other then pregnancy hypertension what could cause protien in my urine? Do you guys know? Anyone else deal with this?

So long story short my blood pressure is a bit high today. The average is about 140/93 ish. I normally have 120/70 BP.

I have had some random swelling I my feet and legs. I assumed it was from salt intake. I did have some things with lots of salt those days. What made me concerned is I have a slight headache. Nothing bad. I threw up suddenly this morning and dizzy for a few hours afterward. Im fine now. I thought it was a stomach bug. My son had one this weekend. However I'm fine and have no thrown up since.
I'm just thinking maybe my machine is wrong or maybe I'm on edge or somthing.
I guess my question is should I be concerned? I've taken my BP about 2 times I the past few hours.

Anyone else deal with this?? I was first diagnosed with BV around 10 weeks (I think I had it before that because I mentioned the discharge at my first appt at 8 weeks but the midwife said it sounded normal.) I did one round of Flagyl gel, then got re-swabbed at 11.5 weeks at a follow-up appointment and was told I still had it. I did a second round of the Flagyl gel, and had another regular appt at 15.5 weeks where they swabbed me again. It still came back positive for BV and they told me they're considering it "chronic." I'm doing a different antibiotic cream now - Clindamycin. The midwives also have me taking a very specific type of probiotic that's supposed to be good for vaginal health and washing with pure tea tree oil soap that's supposed to kill bacteria.

I made the mistake of googling chronic BV in pregnancy and saw a bunch of scary stuff about second tri miscarriage and preterm birth. I'm already having a bunch of cramping that I assumed was from the treatment.

Anyone else deal with this? Did it ever clear up? Did it have an affect on your pregnancy?

I’m trying really hard not to freak out

Last week I got news that my materniti21/NIPT results were normal/low risk

My midwife just called to tell me my NT results came back high risk and. I have to make an appointment with the genetic counselor

This actually also happened when I was pg with my son but I got the results in the reverse order (NT abnormal first and then normal NIPT). My son does not have any significant genetic issues that we know of but does have mild autism/developmental delays

So ..... any mamas go through this? Please tell me it’s going to be ok :crying:

ETA: the tech when I got the NT ultrasound told me the measurements looked fine so I guess it was the bloodwork that was abnormal

I usually avoid all dental work while pregnant, because even brushing my own teeth makes me nauseas. This time I have noticed a cavity/ chip in one of my teeth and feel it needs to be fixed asap before it gets worse. My dentist said they can fix it by using a numbing agent that doesnt contain epinephrine and they are also reaching out to my OB directly for her go ahead. What was your experience? I asked over the phone if they can do it without any shots but they think that will be too painful.
I could always wait a couple months til after the baby comes but I rather do it now before it gets worse and starts hurting

I have pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear. It sounds like a constant beating heart/whooshing noise and my ear feels clogged. Depending on how I turn my head it gets better or worse (so when I'm in bed trying to sleep it's at its worst). This is most likely pregnancy related because of increased bloodflow, though I'm sure seasonal allergies aren't helping.

Any fellow sufferers? Any tips to make it better or GO AWAY? I am considering acupuncture- I was going monthly until I got pregnant, but the thought of needles in my front is making me sick and panicky(used to go for back/stress issues so I'd lay on my stomach and that didn't bother me).

Waiting to hear back from my ob so just curious if anyone else has been there - and of course it’s Friday afternoon so options feel limited.

I’m 39w and noticed yesterday persistent itching on the right side only of my back. It kept me up last night and today feels more like nerve pain, still itchy too. Unfortunately it reminds me way too much of when I last had shingles (I was in my 20s then! My immune system is not so great). No rash yet, but it didn’t start that way last time either so I’m hoping to get antivirals and nip it early. My 3yo also gave me his cold (and I feel like junk but who can tell what’s what at 39 weeks anyway??) so probably all in my immune system is just overmatched.

Trying to back away from dr Google ... I feel like labor is not far off because I’ve been passing mucus/show since yesterday morning and had tons of painful contractions yesterday, just didn’t stick around yet. Maybe illness will put it off though.

it is so hard to find good info about this online, and I have the feeling they're telling everyone different things, so thought it could be good to collect info for future reference!

I took the test in January and just got my final bill. I'm AMA. For the trisomy part of the test, they billed $3000, my insurance (UHC) adjusted that to $693 to my deductible (so technically covered), then when I called and asked for the cash price they offered $449. They tried to tell me I couldn't have the cash price since they already billed my insurance but they always give in if you push . . . seems so shady. I'm wondering if I could have pushed for a lower price too.

They also did the microdeletions test and tried to bill $5000 but my insurance refused to pay. I think they even disputed it on my behalf because I got a letter about it! But my bill from natera just takes it off so I figure they're just seeing what they can get from insurance on that part, I would not have opted for that part if I had to pay for it.

I’m about 30w and it’s been close to 100 here (and going to stay that way or worse) so my swelling is picking up fast. My ob says I carry super low which makes it worse. I lost 35 pounds the week my last baby was born (in January!!).

My crunchy prenatal chiro today recommended taking nettle plus potassium/magnesium/calcium (I think she said those three were all in the emergency-c packs you add to water).

Anyone have experience / advice? I know herbal stuff is not always thought of as safe. I know I can ask the ob just figured I’d crowd source too

I just went down a rabbit hole regarding what happens when you contract CMV during pregnancy and all the physical and developmental issues it can cause in children.

There is no vaccine. The CDC recommends hand washing for those more at risk (e.g., daycare workers and moms of young children).

If you are on your first or second pregnancy did your doctor discuss hygiene with you?

If you did prenatal chiro, when did you start and how often did you go as things progressed?

I did it last time and thought it definitely helped. But my pregnancy brain can’t remember any of the details. I think I was probably at least 30 weeks maybe more when I started, not sure if earlier is better. I probably just went after every OB appt since it was on the way :silly:

Thanks!

I'm maybe 4-5 weeks and have been having terrible headache for the past four days. It started out feeling like a sinus headache, but now it's in the back of my head. It's so bad I'm scared I'll fall over or pass out from the pain. Seems to be worse when I stand up. I'm fine otherwise, just this horrendous pain.

I'm home alone with two kids, so I've taken a Tylenol in case it helps. Thankfully they're letting me lie down and my parents can come over in half hour.

But. Is this normal??? Is it going to keep up? I've never had this before.

Anyone deal with this? I’ve never had IBS symptoms before this pregnancy (#3) though I have had other digestive issues (colitis that resolved, a blockage involving hospitalization). I’m starting to think it may be IBS because in addition to fluctuating loose stools and constipation/extreme bloating/gas, there’s just a lot of pain. At first I thought it was all heartburn (started first tri, now 20w) but it seems beyond that. Both actual stomach pain that lingers, and intestinal cramping.

I know there’s probably not much to do during pregnancy, but what diet tricks helped? Fiber supplements? Any safe otc stuff? I’ve been taking gas-x some and already do Prevacid with tums as needed.

Also did it get better post pregnancy?

Thanks!!

3rd pregnancy here and I'll be 39 weeks on Tuesday. I went to doctor yesterday and was almost 3cm, 80% effaced. My son (2 years ago) came at 38 weeks so literally we're on high alert.

For the past couple of days, I've been feeling very nauseous. I didn't even have any morning sickness with all 3 pregnancies so this is a weird and new feeling. Does this mean impending labor? I dont think it's preeclampsia bc I was at the doctor yesterday and everything else was normal. I stupidly forgot to ask my doctor about the nausea...I remembered after I got in my car. It has been getting worse

any experiences?

Not certain this is it but I started coming down today with all the classic symptoms, i feel awful and it's hitting me hard and fast. It could just be a bad cold or another virus, and I have chills but no fever (yet?).

Looking for any advice about when to go to my OB for antivirals, or any other thoughts. Does the flu itself harm the fetus, or is it just the accompanying fever that can be damaging?

ETA 12 weeks and yes I got the flu shot over the holidays from my OB.

Anyone have HELLP before?

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow. I have low platelets (114,000) (to be expected kind of, had them last pregnancy), but also now a 3-day-long low-to-moderate headache despite some Tylenol and tons of water, nausea, loss of appetite, shakiness and fatigue.

My blood pressure was fine on Monday and today, even on the low side. No temperature, so most likely not sick. No swelling or vision changes.

I called the nurse line at the OB but just wondering what your experience what like...

ETA: Monday I was at the OB for standard appt, so BP & urine were fine then. Today (Thurs) I had my school nurse check my BP.

I've always had clear skin so this is a new one but I am getting major body acne only in the chest area. Thankfully...nothing in the face but my chest looks crazy! It has started coming up onto my neck as well.

Any recommendations on body wash? cream? etc?
I can't even wear anything below my neck bc it looks so terrible. HELP!
