To lovely, lucky though nervous nellies whom it may concern...

To no surprise, pregnancy after IF is not exactly the same experience as those who get pregnant easily and naturally.
I haven't even joined a due date board yet! Graduating from the IVF Thread has me terrified -- what a great support group and source of information! I think it would be great to have a place to support each other, analyze our worries and stay connected as we move from IF trauma to this new experience.

I found that there was a group like this previously but the last updates were awhile ago, so I have created a #2 thread. If you're interested, feel free and join in! Graduates and near-graduates welcome!

So my OB said that it's standard for people who got pregnant through IVF to see a pediatric cardiologist.

I don't remember my RE mentioning that going through IVF increases the risk of our babies having congenital heart abnormalities.

I'm wondering how common it is within the IVF (conceived) community.

If you did IVF, did your OB suggest that you see a pediatric cardiologist?

My appt was yesterday and both babies' hearts are looking good and healthy.

If you were on metformin before pregnancy to treat PCOS and/or lower miscarriage risks, how long did your doctor keep you on it during pregnancy?

I've heard conflicting things and trying to figure out the reasoning before I see my OB next week.

Did anyone have to have weekly "monitoring" during their third trimester due to having conceived your baby through IVF? I just had my 30-week appointment yesterday and my OB told me I will need to start having this at about 32 weeks. Just curious if anyone else did and if there were any problems or anything else noteworthy.

I'm not sure if I should put this on the IF or Loss board, but I figured the IF board is a little more active so I'd try there.

Does anyone have experience with taking HCG shots while pregnant? My doctor has offered it as a possibility because of my history of loss.

The only drawback is that it makes beta tests useless because you're injecting yourself with HCG. I'd take it throughout the first trimester into part of the second.

Anyone have experience they can share?

I am only recently pregnant and have joined in the pregnancy after Infertility support group but it is hard to know how far along everyone is and how they got there without reading through 20-some pages! So lets catch up here:)

How did you finally get your BFP?

Yesterday, I took two HPTs which were both BFPs! I immediately called my doctor to set up a blood test. The receptionist told me that an appointment wasn't necessary, I could just drop in during their hours. So I went in early this morning expecting to get a blood test, but was informed that they only provide urine tests for drop ins and if I wanted a blood test I would need to schedule it with my doctor. Grrrr. I ended up taking the urine test which was also positive, BUT I would feel a lot more confident if I had gotten the blood test. I feel like with my husband's history of MF issues, a blood test should have been done. I have already emailed my doctor to request one. So I thought I would take it to HB! When you found out you were pregnant, did you get a standard urine test or a blood test to confirm?

I know some people hate it when people use it but I really do think this is 'our pregnancy'. It was a great triumph to get pregnant after 3 years with IF and I really do think he should get some of the credit, too.

Yes, it is weird considering I'm pregnant (and not him) but it was such a relief for both of us that we could get pregnant.

Just wondering if this is something (weird) that I do or if it's something maybe people who have gone IF do, too.

Although, maybe later in the pregnancy... I might switch to 'my pregnancy'... if the symptoms get unbearable. ;)

ETA: So far, I've only used the term when I texted him... I referred to 'our pregnancy'.

I am to have two ultrasounds and some my blood drawn a few times to check my estrogen and progesterone before then. He told me I could have my 9 week ultrasound at my local RE's office or at an OB's office. I'll probably stick with my RE because I like her.

Also did you wait until you graduated from the RE to schedule an appointment with an OB or did you schedule it ahead of time?

I'm having a hard time refilling my PIO prescription. The pharmacy I was using won't ship to TX anymore. The pharmacy my nurse sent the prescription to today needs 48-72 hours before they can ship. That's crazy to me. I need my meds my Tuesday PM and want to get them overnighted today in case of delays. I called a third pharmacy and they can have the meds to me tomorrow but they only have progesterone in sesame oil and I've been using cottonseed. My nurse is still at lunch so I can't call and ask just yet. I won't lie, I'm freaking out. I'll miscarry if I can't get any more PIO in time.

After two years of trying, my BFF finally got a BFP after her first IVF cycle! I'm soooooo happy for her!
Her HCG levels look good so far, but I'm concerned about her progesterone. Monday and today (15 and 17 DPO) it was only at a 7. She is on crinone suppositories, and her nurse said that it was common to have low progesterone after a FET. Is this true? I feel like she should be put on injections or something. I know my doctor always wanted me at least at 15 when I was medicated, so it seems like they should be more concerned. The nurse said something about the crinone not showing up on bloodwork, but it being fine. My friend isn't as obsessed with all of this stuff as I am, so I'm checking on here to see if you ladies have input.

My RE originally said I would be on progesterone until 12 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and was told to go every other day with progesterone and then I was good to stop. I'm a little bit nervous. I'll stop early next week or so but will be in Europe at the time so if anything is wrong, there's nothing I'll be able to do. I see my regular ob/gyn on Friday but even if she checked my progesterone levels, I won't get the results back until I'm away.

Sooo...after dealing infertility and going through IUIs and finally IVF, we got incredibly lucky and my sweet baby girl was conceived. She is now almost 10 months old and my husband and I have just started to talk about when we might pursue treatments again for a second baby. Today, I realized I should be getting my period soon and decided to pull out one of my old cheapie pregnancy tests. You can probably guess what happened....TWO lines. Two lines. Two lines. I've never been so shocked about something. I can't believe this is real. I feel so many different emotions right now. We are absolutely ELATED, but there is also some fear lingering. My first pregnancy was high risk (placenta previa, lots of bleeding episodes, preterm labor, bed rest, preterm emergency c-section, etc.). I am so scared to embrace this and be excited because I feel like conception, pregnancy, and childbirth have all been difficult and actually downright terrifying in the past and aren't to be trusted. I'm just completely shocked, absolutely thrilled- but shocked! I need to talk through this with someone besides my husband but feel like I shouldn't say anything to anyone that knows me. Any words of wisdom, advice, or similar experiences are appreciated!
