I always get gift cards for my kids teachers because I know they can get what they actually want. But I also include a handwritten note about how grateful I am for them.

Check out sugarwish for a really clever way to get them exactly what they want.

@Jess1483: @erinbaderin: haha it means the same here in Colorado too!

I hardly know the woman since pandemic protocols mean a wave hello and goodbye most days so I think I'll write a letter from me, one from DD, and get her a gift card. Maybe to somewhere more unique than Starbucks or Amazon...

@Jess1483: I'm sure this isn't what you meant but marijuana is legal in Canada and the idea of getting preschool teachers weed gummies is making me laugh and laugh.

I think you could do an actual gift or (probably preferred) a gift card. For some reason cash seems awkward to me.

I received a wide variety of gifts when I was a preschool teacher. By far the best were handwritten letters, so I think you are right on the nose there. (One of my favorites was when the mom just wrote exactly what her son said in typical Preschool-ease.) Then a small token gift, like a gift card or edible would be nice, too.

It's my first time. No one seems to be starting group gift. Small school, my daughter goes 3 hours/day 5 days/week.

What is the appropriate amount to spend? Am I supposed to get a physical gift, a gift card, or just give cash?

My only thought so far is to write a letter about the positive changes I have noticed in DD1 (starting to read, loves going to school, etc). Maybe with a gift card? Coffee or something...

My 6 yo has ripped every single Carter’s PJ bottoms he owns. I bought 4 Hanna Anderson PJs 3 months ago. He managed to wear out one of those in less than a month but customer service was awesome and they replaced it! Since then, knock on wood, no more holes. They definitely hold up better than Carter’s.

My six year old rips holes in the knees of almost every pair of regular pants, but her Hanna Andersson pjs have lasted years - somehow she's fit in the same size for many seasons and they're still in great shape for her little sister.

I actually watched her trip and somehow tear her pants on our baseboard the other day. I still don't understand how that was even possible!

My 6yo has gone through the knees of all his snug fit PJs, even a nicer pair of Leveret! The only thing that works for him are the loose fit ones, and for that Carter’s has been just fine. He chews on his knees though and that’s a big source of the problem.

I have never had a pair of Hanna Andersson pjs rip and my 6yo rips all his regular pants. Expensive though I know, helps if you have someone to pass to! Also I don’t know which Carters you’re buying, but if it’s the snug fit, I’ve also had luck with the looser fit ones - I think they rip less, maybe they can give more or something? I’m so over buying this kid new pants so I feel your pain!!

Hi all! I recognize this could be an issue with me 😬 but it drives me CRAZY when my 5 year old rips the knees of his PJ pants, like, immediately. I’ve had this happen with many brands, but especially Carter’s it seems. I don’t even know how he does it, but by the second wash there’s usually at least one hole in the knee!?
What are your favorite brands for kid PJs that hold up? TIA!

Just giving another update to this.

The new preschool has been amazing. We're not even through the first week, and we know it's the place for us.

I used to spend 100% of the time she was in preschool filled with anxiety about how she was doing and how bad our report was going to be. Every report we got was from an exasperated teacher, who indicated to us that our 3 year old was out of control. Reports were "She doesn't listen, she can't sit still, she isn't ready." I cried a lot during that week and a half, and questioned myself constantly. I had thought she was SO ready to try preschool, and this teacher, who has been a teacher for years, is telling me that I was wrong. I truly do think DD was too busy at school to notice that this teacher didn't like her/had clearly labeled her a problem child, but I worried that she would eventually see that and take it to heart.

Three days in at her new preschool, and she forgot to kiss me goodbye this morning because she was so excited to go to school. Every report we've gotten has been "she's very busy but she's trying so hard and doing so well! She's exactly where we expect a 3 year old to be." They're excited to see her in the morning. Her teacher says she has zero concerns about DD's hearing ("She's just a little too busy to listen sometimes, but that's really normal").

Today at pickup, her teacher told us that she sat still on the mat for circle for the first time, and told us that she had an awesome day. Three days in. I cried happy, grateful tears.
