We just found out our second baby is going to be a boy, due in July. I currently have an almost 3 year old daughter and I find myself struggling to process the news.

Originally I wanted one of each sex, so I'm not really disappointed, but I'm also not excited about it. I guess I had started to picture another little girl, just like my first. I find myself sad that my daughter won't have a sister, like I do. I know that being the same gender doesn't guarantee a great relationship, but my sister is my best friend, so I'm sad that my daughter for sure won't have that relationship. Also, the practical side of me is really disappointed that we won't be able to reuse all my daughter's clothing and I'll have to buy more. Sounds silly, but looking at all the adorable little dresses and outfits and knowing I'll never use them again is sad.

Honestly, I think that I'm struggling with the reality that I'm not going to just be my daughter's mom anymore, but also the mom to someone else and that seems scary. Another baby girl would have been much more familiar. Perhaps I'm just processing that our family is changing.

Anyone else struggle with the reality of adding a new baby to the family? Any positive stories about mixed gender siblings to share?

We have 3 boys and 1 girl. Three of my pregnancies we found out the gender asap with the NIPT...the first I had to wait an (excruciating) 20 weeks for the anatomy scan ;)

I'm thinking about going team green this time! I don't know if I can do it? I'm a planner. But also, this is our last baby (for reals, this time hahaha), we already have everything we'd need if it were a boy vs a girl, and honestly...I think I'd have some gender disappointment if it's a boy. Although maybe I'd rather have the gender disappointment early so I'm "over it" by the time he's here. idk.

Team Green mamas...would you do it again? Was it as awesome as people say? Or is it just as exciting to find out at 10 weeks?

Any fun gender reveal ideas to be done in private? Like after the early (10-12 week) testing. Something for just hubby and I. He's all "we can just hear it together" but 1. that's no fun and 2. this is the last time. We listened to a voicemail with 1, were team green with 2. Any ideas??

Have any of you done the CLINICAL Sneak Peek test at a Dr's office (as opposed to the home kit)? I just did mine yesterday and the nurse said i should have results today, but i still haven't even gotten the "sample received" email yet. Im just curious how long it took from when you got your blood drawn to when you had your results.

I wish I could say I was happy as could be to be having our third girl. I found out yesterday with the NIPT. She’s healthy with no chromosomal abnormalities, so that’s reason to celebrate!! But, this is our last baby and I’ve always wanted a boy. I hate that I feel sad. I know that once she’s here, it won’t even matter. What makes it worse is that my 4 YO and my mom are also disappointed. Have you been there? How and when were you able to get past it?

Brother and SIL are expecting. They are planning to have a gender reveal and a shower and of course we will want to meet the baby once it arrives. They are a three - four hour flight plus additional driving away. We have no leave from work given that LO is constantly sick, so any trips there will have to be super quick weekend visits.

So my question is - how important is it to bring the family (DH + LO) to the gender reveal, versus me just going, which would be a lot less money and stress? LO got super air sick traveling for Christmas and was just miserable, that plus the expense and I'm really not enthusiastic about flying with him. I'm not close to my brother/SIL, so it's hard for me to gauge how much they will care if we don't all come. Like do people have wedding level expectations? Or nbd? If you were to have a gender reveal, what are your expectations about family traveling to it?

(I didn't have a reveal, and asked for my shower to be over google hangouts, as I didn't want to burden people with the travel, in short I wouldn't care at all, but don't know how general this is...)

I apologize in advanced because I am hooked on gender feelings right now since we won't find out for another 4 weeks (we chose to wait for the 20 week scan and it's driving me nuts!)

I had a dream last night that the baby was a boy and in my dream I was a little disappointed as we already have a boy. This whole pregnancy I have a "feeling/intuition" like it's a girl but trying not to put too much stock in it. Did you guys have any dreams about the gender? Were they accurate or were they opposite gender of what you were having?

This 4 weeks is killing my patience! :silly: If anyone waited until birth to find out I commend your will power!

"Studies have shown that a mother's intuition about her baby's gender is correct approximately 70% of the time. Intuition refers to either having vivid and accurate dreams of the baby's gender, or having strong feelings that it will be a boy/girl, without being quite sure why you "just know." Intuition does NOT mean assuming it will be a boy/girl based on old wives' tales, because a certain gender runs in the family, etc."

So, just for fun I saw this and thought it was a cute idea. I’ll be finding out if my "intuition" is right or terribly wrong come the first week of January! Was your gut feeling wrong or right with your pregnancies? Feel free to comment below on why you thought it was boy/girl. I’d love to hear why!

My fil is dead set on our second baby being a boy. He mentions it every time we talk to him. He even joked that if it's a girl maybe we should trade her in. I love my fil dearly but this is really starting to bother me. Anyone have suggestions for gentle reminders that being dead set on a specific sex is not OK?

Hubby and I are totally on the same page. We're just grateful to have a second on the way and will be jazzed about either sex. And none of the rest of the family has mentioned anything. I just don't want to end up resenting my fil over something we don't have control over

I have an anterior placenta this pregnancy, and did not with my first. In trying to do some research on when to expect to feel movement, I came across a study done in Turkey that found babies with anterior placentas were more frequently females (62%). Of course that still means 38% of anterior placentas are male babies! However, my anterior placenta is a girl baby (or so the sonographer tells me!), so I fell into that nearly two-thirds category. I wondered if the Hellobee community would fall in line with this study, so I created a poll. Multiple voting enabled for multiple babies!

Here is the abstract for the study for those interested: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25552170

I've been following the Shettles method for a couple of months now, but one night got carried away with DH, ignored it all, and had sex on the same day as my positive ovulation test :meh:

I was just wondering how many people still conceived a girl even though they had sex on ovulation day ? I had my first ultrasound last week and everything went well, I was supposed to be 7 weeks but my doctor said baby look more like 6 weeks and 5 days so maybe means I ovulated 2 days later than I thought ? HB was good 160.

Searching on internet I came across to Ramzi theory, and found another page called Gender Expert Team, I summited my first ultrasound picture and they guess A BOY. according to this method is 97 % accurate. I have a feeling is going to be a boy according to my timing and based that " my placenta" is implanted on the right side. Has anybody used Ovulations test and just had sex when positive and still have Daughter ? Have Ramzi theory was wrong for you ? TIA

Did you have a gut feeling what the gender of your baby was before a confirmed ultrasound? Were you right or wrong? I just knew DD was a girl, and she is in fact a girl. With this baby I also feel like it's a girl, but I am only 6 weeks so maybe that will change.

Hi. I'm Mae and I'm the most impatient pregnant person ever. :)

There are elective u/s places here that say they can determine gender as early as 14 weeks but I"m kind of nervous they'd be wrong. Experiences?

I think we got a pretty good photo of the nub today ... our tech was awesome, and even knew what we were talking about when we asked for this view. For fun, what do you think?

Also, the face in this view is cracking me up. Why does it look like a 40 year old man?! :silly:

I hope I got these poll options right!!
I didn't specify pregnancies in progress, stepchildren, or anything else, so answer however you choose to identify your family.

If you were nervous about gender disappointment, do you think it would be a bad idea to be team green? DH and I are only going to have two and, while I LOVE being a boy mama, I would love to experience having a daughter, too. DH would like to be team green next time but I am a little nervous about experiencing disappointment and would hate for it to be in the delivery room. I would love to experience the surprise, too, if it weren't for this worry.
But, maybe, I will be so excited to be done with labor and have the baby right there that it would be short-lived. Any thoughts?

Also, hi! I'm new here but a long, long time reader.
