Help! My five year old is AWFUL about putting on any shoes that don’t open up super wide (like Velcro sneakers or Mary Janes). She just can’t figure out how to point/wiggle her feet and be helpful when putting on boots, jazz shoes, etc. - it’s nearly impossible; she’ll literally curl her toes under and let her foot bend in half. Any tips on how to cue her/ teach her what to do?!

We booked tickets to visit DH's family in St. Louis for Christmas. It will be so nice to visit after over two years.

We're from coastal California so my kids aren't equipped with footwear to face cold, rain, and (fingers crossed) light snow.

What shoe/boot do you recommend? The kids are 8 and 6 and in size 3 and 2.

Any other cold weather tips are appreciated.

DS is a size 8.5 and burning through shoes. He’s staying with his grandparents next week and will have lots of time to ride. I’d like to send him with shoes that are up for the challenge. I don’t want to hear from MIL that she had to buy my poor children shoes again.

Problem is that New Balance, Saucony, Stride Rite, all the brands that come in wide widths, are not fitting him well. Are there other brands/style I’m unaware of? Please help!

I'm looking for easy slip-on shoes for my 7 year old (size 1) but the challenge is that she has a pretty narrow foot. We've had no success with TOMS, Crocs and Natives, they're all giant on her feet. Any suggestions? She has typical sneakers and Phibians for everyday wear but looking to get something slip-on that she can just slide feet into when she goes out in the yard.

Anyone have recommendations for a good toddler shoe that can be bought online with free returns?

DD2 is 16 months and has grown out of her soft-sole shoes she's been wearing. I'd like to move into something with a harder sole for backyard exploring. With DD1, I would take her to the store to have someone help professionally measure and fit shoes this young, but that's not so much an option right now.

I want to say we had several Stride Rite sandal-type shoes for my first but she's 7.5 now so it's been a while :)

What's your fave? And how do I figure out what sizes to buy and try?

I can’t believe it’s time to get snow boots already 😭

What are your favorite snow boots for super cold, super snowy winters? The past few years I’ve ordered Kamik boots on Amazon which have been fine but we always have trouble finding a style that my daughter likes (not the way it looks, but how it feels/ease of use especially since she has to get them on and off at school three times per day). I’d like to spend less than $50.

Lo is 13m - I haven’t bothered much with shoes yet as she’s not walking alone yet and it’s still hot. But she needs some now. I’ve tried several pair that I can’t get over her foot chub! She has dropped a lot of chub elsewhere already being mobile but the feet seem to be staying that way

She has one pair of pedipeds that are 6-12m size that fit in length but even as a Mary Jane style seem tight across the top. Not sure how to find a shoe that is “taller” but not longer or wider if that makes sense. Ideas welcome thanks!

I know its August but I am starting to think about winter and the gear that comes with it. E will be 2 this November and will be doing more walking outside unlike last year, she also will be going outside to play at daycare. I don't know how much they play if snow is on the ground but I think there is a chance. I am looking for a reasonably priced easy to walk in boot. It doesn't need to be rated for extreme temperatures since we are in PA and won't be spending too much time outside if its below freezing. Suggestions?

DS is not particularly rough on his clothing, but I would love to find a more durable sneaker for this year. He wears Keen sandals the other 1/2 of the year, and they hold up great. (He will be 4 soon, and is likely a size 10)

What kinds of shoes are you getting your LOs for spring and summer?

My 4.5 year old has just outgrown pretty much all her shoes (which I guess happens when they are all the same size! :silly: ). I just bought her a pair of Saucony sneakers- which she is obsessed with and wears more than her previous target sneakers for sure. Her cheap Old Navy water shoes from last summer were big and i think still fit. And I just got her dressy sparkly ballet flats for my sisters wedding so those will be her dress up shoes. I want to get her a Mary Jane type sneaker since those were her most worn pair in the last size- we had the silver Surprize by Target ones that everyone had. I haven’t found a replacement that seems like good quality but a reasonable price. And I’ll probably get her another pair of super cheap jellies since she loved those too.

Poor little sis just gets the hand me downs that fit

We have a pretty wild backyard — almost a farmette. No animals (besides the dogs) yet, but we do have a big garden, a stream, lots of dirt, a wood pile, a gravel driveway, flower beds and trees... toddler heaven!

I’m looking for some suggestions on easy on/off toddler muck boots that could be worn year-round. We had some cowboy-type boots that he grew out of and were not easy on/off. Lately he has been wearing sneakers which are getting pretty dirty and we need those for daycare, etc. Rain boots are pretty easy to find but I think they’d be too slippery plus hot in the summer.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

So, my 10m DD has recently started walking (ahhh). 99% of the time we have her walking either barefoot or in grippy socks, especially as she's learning foot/ankle control. However, when we're not at home, I think I'd like her to have *something* on her feet other than socks (which she likes to pull off and suck on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).

So, first question: how do I do sizing?! Does sizing vary for baby shoes depending on brand? We ordered her 11cm sandals for Easter (from Amazon for like $3) that fit her pretty well, but who knows for how long? We bought them knowing they'd likely be a 1-time wear.

Second Question: Are there any (affordable) brands that I should totally stock up on? We are on one income right now, so I can't afford to spend $40 on like, stride right shoes that will fit her for all of 10 minutes. I'd LOVE to find a $15-20 shoe that could last her for a few months, but that's probably a pipe dream (she just grows so stinkin' fast!)

Third Question: hard soles? soft soles? I've read different things and I'm terribly confused.

Thank you ahead of time!

ETA: we're also in the Northeast US, so our weather is straight unpredictable like 98% of the time. It snowed on Friday, was 50* out yesterday, and was 29* this morning.
