My 5.5 year old is around 48 lbs but on the short side and has a bit of a belly/rounder middle (about 23-24 inches) but small butt. As a result I’m losing my mind trying to find good underwear for her. Cat and Jack briefs from Target in size 6 is what she wears now, and they’re a bit tight on her and sit pretty low, just above her privates, but the next size up (8) is too loose around her butt and still very low on her belly. I walked around Target and can’t figure out what might work better. It doesn’t need to come all the way up to her belly, though I would like to have something that’s a bit higher than the current undies, so briefs would be ideal, and we need something with smooth seams (this rules out Disney brand, she hates their seams). Size charts seem to suggest moving up to an 8 in whatever brand but the ones we tried were too loose around her butt. Anyone have brands that worked for similar sized kids?

My almost 5 year is getting close to outgrowing 5T clothes, so going forward I was wanting to get her the next size up. In Carters/ OshKosh, is that 4-5, or 6-6x? She’s about 41 inches tall and 41 lbs, I think- fairly petite, with still the last traces of toddler chubbiness. Mostly I’m just looking at leggings that she won’t wear much before the fall.

I'm ordering my 5 year old DD some dresses from H&M and am stuck on what size to get! She's has some in 2-4Y that fit ok but are getting short and I want to make sure she gets plenty of wear out of them but I don't know if the 4-6Y will be too big... she wears a 4T at Carters and Cat and Jack and is about 33 pounds and 39-40 inches tall.

We’re heading out of town in a couple weeks for spring break and I’m found some great swim trunks for DS from The Children’s Place. Other than a pair of adjustable waist snow pants, we’ve never shopped at TCP. Does anyone know how sizes run there? We always fit much smaller sizes than the size for his age when it comes to swim trunks (currently size 3T swim trunks from carters fit great).

So I have an ultra thin baby this time around, after having average - pudgy babies the last times. She is 70%ile for height and<10%ile for weight, we are trying to put weight on her but in the meantime any clothes that fit her length are falling off of her. What brands (bonus points for shipping to Canada) fit the super skinny baby set?

Picture ... because she is cute 😉

My petite little girl is approaching her first birthday. Wasitbands are always too big on her! All summer I have put her in dresses and rompers, but now I'm thinking ahead to winter and I know she will have to wear pants. Do I just size down in pants (so put her in size 9 months pants with a 12mo top)? I'm worried they will be too short (but that's better than having them fall off!). We have so many two piece outfits I'm afraid she will never wear because the bottoms and tops won't fit at the same time.

Does anyone know a good brand with smaller waistbands?

So my LO is about to turn two. She has grown out of 24 month carters and gap in length. She's even starting to grow out of some 2T pants in length (which is odd because she's not off the charts tall, but def upper 75th percentile and taller than most of her kid friends). Both DH and I are average sized.
I"m trying to buy ahead (of course) for the spring and summer.
Did your kids stay in 2T for a while? I know this is a dumb question, but some people have said 2T is theoretically for a 2 year old until 3 (which is backwards from sizing up till 24 months....for example 18m always meant 12-18m to me). But the fact she is growing out of some 2T has me a little confused.
Thoughts? She is thin, so same pants are typically too large in the waist but are becoming high waters. Shorts, unless they are slim, slide off. Dresses are short on her.

How does sizing work?? is a 2t really from age 2 until they turn three roughly? she probably about 34-35" and 28 lbs.
I want to get the most bang for my buck out of clothes, but don't want her to look sloppy all summer.

Ok bees, just need some opinions here. I feel like my LO is between sizes and it stinks!

My LO is 2, he's tall 36 inches and about 30 lbs. Since he hasn't been in pants since June I went out and got him a bunch of stuff at Gap over labor day when it was 50% off, etc. but for some silly reason I bought him 3T -- thinking that 2T and 18-24 months were basically the same and his 18-24 month stuff was way too small. Well, the 3T pants are super, duper long and has major saggy butt since he's kind of on the "thin" side. SO, do I return all of it and get 2T even though he is on the end of the size chart? Do I just hold onto it and get him other 2T stuff for a few months? Have him wear it all huge? (I don't really like doing that if the butts are saggy). His 2T stuff that he does have fits him perfectly right now... but how long does that last at this age? Does Gap stuff run big and I should just get him a different brand?

Why can't they make 2.5T? :silly:

I'm trying to figure out if this issue is just my bad luck, or if it has happened to others. This isn't the first time I've had this issue. So I bought LO 2 pairs of 5T leggings at the same time. I'm just going through her clothes for school and one is significantly shorter than the other. They are happy to take them back but this always happens to me! Anyone else?

My LO just turned 4 last week and she is wearing an XS (4-5) from Target, but from other stores I go straight for the size 5.

When did you stop buying toddler sizes and move up to the kid section? I ask because we're straddling that line. Both children need 5T for their tops and in some cases for their bottoms (read: diapers are bulky, DD, please potty train).

Has your LO been able to get two years of use out of clothes? For example if they were in 3-4T last summer, will they be able to use the same clothes this summer?

LO1 was in 3-4T last summer, and I think they will fit this year too. 3T is getting small but all her 4T stuff fits well. With shorts and dresses I think it's easier to fit for longer. LO2 was in 24m-2T last summer and I thought for sure it wouldn't fit this year. I put on a romper and it has a good inch of space between diaper and snaps, so I think as long as she doesn't have a huge growth spurt some stuff can be used again. Fingers crossed!

How old is your LO/how much do they weigh/and what size are they in?

My 3.5 year old is in mostly 4T but can wear some 3T and even a few 5T items, depending on the brand. I have to constantly go through things to make sure I'm not missing something in a bin that could fit, because sizes are so crazy.

LO2 is almost 2 and she is in 2-3T, 3T in leggings because they are tighter, and I think they fit smaller overall. She has some 24 month summer items from last year that I held up to her the other day, and they still seem like they would fit...however, warm weather is several months away so I bet I'm out of luck thinking I can squeeze her in them this year. I made the mistake of getting rid of some things I didn't think would fit her this winter, from her sister...so I'm definitely waiting until the last minute to sell anything.

I'm thinking LO1 will stay in 4T for quite some time, and LO2 will be in between 2-3T over the next year, depending on how she grows and what the item is.

LO1 is 30lbs give or take, and LO2 is 22-23 pounds maybe.

My DD is turning 2 in a couple weeks and I've been buying 3t clothes recently. I figure dresses will just be a little long, same as shirts and shorts. Pants I've been buying in 2t since her legs are short.

I'm looking to use my Gymboree bucks and wanted to buy sale stuff and it's all winter stuff. I live in Texas, so it'll start getting warm t shirt weather in March/April and won't cool down again until Oct/Nov. My question is this: How much did your kids grow after they turned 2? I'm not sure if I should get 3t for the next cold season, or buy 4t. She's 50% height, but chunky.

Am I doing this right?

Skip NB sizes and go to straight 0-3 months? or is it straight to 3-6 months?

In general The Children's place fits my girls small so I always buy one size up. But I'm wondering if there's a difference between their 4T and 4? For example, I would be buying my 3.5 yo 5T right now. But would 5/6 from the girls section be *too* big?

Thanks!

I was all set to order this dress for my 2 year old for Christmas, but then I came across some threads talking about how their sizing is way off. Anyone have toddler dresses and insight into how they run? My LO definitely still has her toddler chub and isn't that tall, so her 3T dresses for width wise and are kind of long. Debating between the 1.5-2 y size and 2-4y.
