Me and DH have been trying for 6 months now (every second day around when I should be ovulating) after agreeing we'll do 6 months of trying without any assistance etc, then if need be we'll start looking for help. And well, that time's come!

I've had a look around at what there is for the next 6 months before we go down the infertility road - looking for some more resources re: OPK, BBT measuring and ovulation calculators. I'm not too keen on ovulation calculators as I can't imagine they'll be loads of help if we haven't conceived so far after 6 months, but I found this one ( https://www.ovulation-calculators.com/ ) with some good info which might be helpful to others in future:)

Can anyone point me to some other good resources? Thanks!

Been trying for almost 3 years. Just had our second IUI. We've been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.

We are telling our parents this weekend. We didn't want to but we feel it's time. We are tired of the questions and remarks about its time we had kids already.

I feel like I am such a failure. I think it must be my issue. My eggs must not be healthy or good quality. I have regular cycles, I ovulate on my own for the IUIs and they always remark and how good my CM looks, we've had great timing when trying on our own. It's just so unfair that they can't tell what's wrong and fix it.

Every time I think of breaking the news to my parents I just want to cry.

I feel like I've been very lucky in my life and things have worked out perfectly. I feel like I'm being punished now for having what I have. It's just sad because having a family has been the one thing I have dreamed of since I can remember.

Ugh I am just so tired of this.

Hello, all!

Long-time lurker (and new member) here! I was hoping to get a TTC 6+ month started for those of us who have been trying for a while, are seeking/getting interventions, or are pre-ivf (since we have the IVF board.) Since things move a bit slower in the "infertility world," I thought it could be seasonal as opposed to monthly.

Anyway...I'll start!

Cycle Day: 14

TTC Cycle #: 7

Ovulation: October 16-17?

POAS Date: Since I am using a trigger, I will wait for AF

Baby #: 2; DS is 2

Your plan: My husband and I haven't started testing yet because it's soooo expensive (and we pay out of pocket.) So, we are doing our first cycle with interventions. I am on some supplements: coq10, prenatal, baby aspirin, vitamin c, vitamin e, folate. I took femara from cd5-9 and had an ultrasound as cd 12 (normally when I ovulate) and it showed two follicles at 13 mm on each side but she said they weren't exactly "super dominate" just yet. She estimated that I would ovulate on cd 17-18 which is great because DH is out of town.

Favorite Fall Activity: Watching Gilmore Girls, baking, going to the pumpkin patch, drinking hot coffee, sweaters and boots...so basically everything!

I FINALLY got my AMH results back after waiting almost 2 weeks. I see my doctor next week, but I'm trying not to Google myself to death. I am 29 and my results was 7.94, it says its normal ranges for my age group, but everything else I have looked up says 4 is the top end of normal.

What has been your experience with similar levels?

Also my other results from CD 3 was:
Estradiol- 31.7
FSH- 5.7
Prolactin- 11.4

Talked to the doctor about all our test results. There was an issue with DH's SA. All numbers looked good, sperm count included, but morphology was low. She told us the numbers but they don't mean anything and I was too overwhelmed to ask what they meant. But she showed us the results and morphology was 30. I wish I asked for clarification but my brain was in panic mode. She said the sperm were small.

Anyway, she said that the fertility clinic will follow up on this with us but she wanted to let us know and told us to only being DTD every second or third day. She didn't say it was hopeless and did say it's entirely possible we could get pregnant before our fertility appt.

Anyone had similar issues? Did you need interventions to conceive? Is there anything we can do in the meantime before our fertility appt? It could be a month away still - there's a waiting list.

Hi all,
I was hoping you guys could help shed some light on what steps to take next after TTC with no success. I recently signed up with Kaiser so it will be my first time going there and they made me an appointment with an obgyn next week. DH has an appointment for a SA. What are the tests they should typically run at this point for me? I just want to be sure to ask for the correct tests and be able to advocate for myself in case the doctor doesn't know. Plus with Kaiser it seems you always have to jump through so many hoops to get the right care sometimes so I want to be prepared! TIA!

I just got back on the boards after a hiatus. Hubby was gone for summer work (as usual for about 4 months) with a visit home in the middle with what should have been perfect timing..... except I had gallbladder surgery.....

Now this cycle we AGAIN have perfect timing so I'm hopeful.

But when I look at the bees names on the TTC boards, I don't see many familiar faces from before the summer, so I'm feeling a little lonely with my now 1 year + journey.

So I'm hoping there are a few TTC 6 months+ bees who'd be interested in our own board again, I don't see a recent thread.

When I went to see my ob/gyn for basic testing since we had not been successful yet after 6 months of charting/timing/using OPKs, she suggested that I may need Clomid to help give me a stronger ovulation- especially since I had been ovulating on CD 17 and my luteal phase was short. Then I had bloodwork done (on CD21 I believe) and the office said my results were 'normal' but she would still give me a script for Clomid if I wanted.

I'm going into Cycle # 8 now and feeling frustrated with the process and confused on what to do now. I'm wondering if I should take Clomid for a bit to see if it helps me, even though I am ovulating. BUT I know that there is a limited number of times that you can take Clomid so I wasn't sure if it was important to test my DH before going that route. And if so, how do I have a SA done?? (My husband would prefer to wait until we've been trying a full year before using Clomid but that comes from a place where he hates taking any medication except vitamins unless he's really sick or it's a necessary treatment. So he even admitted it was more of a personal bias about drugs in general versus a strong conviction about Clomid itself.)

Any tips/past experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm on cycle day 14 and I haven't gotten a positive OPK test yet. Which wouldn't be that weird except I have short cycles (25-26 days) and I *think* I usually ovulate around day 11 or so. I haven't done OPKs in the past or even taken temps but that is when I have noticed the lubey-gooey CF.

This month I had the lotion-y stuff on day 9-10 but haven't really been progressing to the eggwhite or lube-goo stuff. OPKs since day 9 all negative and it is now day 14. My app predicted yesterday as O day. Also my temps have been all over the place so far, though still in the low range, from 96.4 to 97.2 (I am counting a 97.5 as an outlier b/c I drank the night before and slept in late and I know both can affect waking temp). This is the first month I've been closely tracking temps so I'm not sure if that is normal for me or not.

We DTD on day 11 and will probably do it again tonight. But I am wondering if you have any insight into why my cycle might be off or weird this month? Ever since I have been paying marginal attention to CF I've had the good stuff around day 11-12, a day or two before my app predicts O. Since I only recently learned how predictive of O CF really is (reading the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" - what a mind opener!), I had in the past focused more on DTD on day 13 when my app predicted O.

This past month I had a real squinter of a preg test then got my period on day 27. It was an awful, awful period that lasted five days (normally mine are 3 and maybe a super light flow on day 4) and I still had cramps on day 4 (that NEVER happens). So I am wondering if anyone think it's possible that I had a chemical or miscarriage (also if you could explain what a chemical is that would be appreciated - I'm not totally clear) and thus may not ovulate this month? Or may ovulate late? There aren't really any other factors that might delay ovulation this month, like stress or travel.

I did an IUI on April 14th with an Ovidrel trigger shot in the evening of the 12th. This morning, I got a positive on a First Response (with the rounded handle) and a digital. Is it possible that this is the real thing, or is this the trigger shot still in my system?

I just ordered a starter pack of fertilaid supplements for DH, majority of the reviews on the product were good but there were some bad ones. The supplements are supposed to help increase sperm count, improve motility and morphology. Has anyone here taken fertilaid supplements and has it helped them? Or do you know of anyone who has taken them and seen good results. I'm curious, would be nice to hear some positive things.

Hello Bees,
I just got my blood work results today for my day 22 p blood work.
Results are as followed:

Progesterone
HI
127 nmol/L
Test repeated and results confirmed.

I took 5mg letrozole this cycle, the good news is that I definitely ovulated this cycle and it's much better than my previous 8, but I'm a little worried on how high it is.
Anyone have experience with such a high number? Stories appreciated.
Thanks!

I am reaching the point where I'm kind of losing the desire to become pregnant. I'm tired of tracking ovulation and sulking in the tampon aisle. We've made a slew of plans and goals for this year that revolve around a pregnancy and second child, and I find myself growing sick of planning for a hypothetical.

I'm regularly asked when we're giving DD1 a sibling. That she's getting so big, she's no longer a little baby and it's time for another. Well meaning comments that leave me grinding my teeth (ha!). Everyone around me is pregnant and instead of being excited, I am admittedly a bit distant and bitter. I'm over feeling this way around people I really love and am perhaps incorrectly coming to the conclusion that if I make true peace with being one and done, I can crawl out of this rough spot and resume normalcy.

Little things about having another baby are suddenly and strangely losing their novelty and spark. I find myself focusing on the positives of having an only child, and dreaming up plans that don't exactly consider another pregnancy or little one. I have an appt with my OB soon to go over our next steps, and I'm just kind of "meh" about it, when before I was dying for answers and solutions.

Has anyone gone through something similar? Was it a stage and you ultimately resumed trying with determination (and hopefully great success)? Something that stuck with you and altered your family plans, permanently?

I feel this is likely denial talking and I am probably trying to convince myself I am okay being done when I'm just tired of every month being tinged by disappointment. Anyway, I would love to hear about your experience and how things ultimately panned out for you. Thanks!

So I am trying to debate when to throw in the towel on the Clomid and go to another recommended RE. See this is month 4 on Clomid, Cycles are normal 27 days ish with a luteal phase of about of about 11-13.

I am really hoping this month or one of the next two months will do the trick (this month plus two more would be the max of 6 months).

My current OB has RE experience so we have done the basic tests, the Fallopian tube (dye catheter) test, ultrasounds and so on all came out fine. Then progesterone to confirm ovulation. It appears from everything test that we have done confirms that I am ovulating (on the clomid and maybe before without it) and that my SO sperm is ok, (except morphology of 4% which is a bit low). But my OB wants to recommend me a actual RE for more options I can choose to go now after month four or try clomid for two more months after that then go.

But I am 39 (will be 40 in Nov) and this is our 11 month trying. I would say we really did not get the timing down and such until about 6 months ago for sure.

Only reason why I am hesitant to start with the RE is insurance and costs. So far my insurance has covered everything with the OB/RE (as it is initial diagnosis testing. but it does not cover actual fertility treatments. I pay for my clomid script. Which is nothing big. And we have savings but I hear that the RE can cost 5-10K depending on the treatment.

Anyway long story short, can anyone give me an idea of what the next step they went through with the RE are. How were your costs? Were there alot of tests? I am going to call the RE's monday but interested to see what your experiences have been.

Thx and sorry for the long post.

Hello!!
I've been TTC for about 17 months now. I went off BC in Aug. '14 and didn't get a natural cycle until Aug. '15. I had my thyroid removed back in Dec. '11 do to Thyroid Cancer and it turns out my thyroid levels were surpressing my ovulation. I tried Clomid and Femara and nothing was working! If I did ovulate, I get my period about 6-7 days later. I had a laprascopy done and everything is fine. No PCOS or Endo. The only thing I suffer from is low progesterone. Once I adjusted my thyroid levels, I started ovulating on my own. The only problem I'm facing now is a short Luteal phase. My Luteal phase is 8 days. It started as 6 and over the months it has grown to 8. It's been consistently 8 days now for the past 3 cycles. I've tried B6 and vitamin C. My gyno wants me to try Femara one more time to see if I get a healthy O. If I do, I will continue with the Femara. If I don't, it off to an RE I go. Has anyone had any success with pregnancy with a short Luteal?

Hi all! I am new around here but have a question!

Hubby and I have been TTC for 7 months with no luck. Ovia fertility app told me fertile window would be 2/6-2/11. On Friday I did an OPK to double check bc my temp dipped that morning and it was positive.

When I entered this into my app it bumped my fertile window back a whole week. Now it's Tuesday and since then my temp had a definite thermal shift but I have had consistent EWCM every day. OPK tests have been negative.

Any ideas- don't know if I am still fertile or if this is normal.

I know 6 months isn't exactly a huge amount of time, but as DD was conceived the 2nd cycle, I'm starting to wonder if there might be something going on this time that is preventing me from getting pregnant as quick.

Just wondering if there were others out there who took a while but still conceived without intervention?

If anyone followed my previous post about unsuccessfully TTC for 8 months now along with worrisome spotting, I thought I would come back and update you.
Went to the RE for Day 3 bloods and my FSH was through the roof- 22.6. It's supposed to be under 8.
What the nurse told me and what I have read -- to say the least--are extremely discouraging. Like, certain fertility clinics won't even consider women over FSH over 20, discouraging. I'm 31. I don't know why my eggs are bad..
So that's that. Waiting to hear about my AMH levels which will tell me if I literally even have any eggs. I'm not sure I can conceive naturally. I am stunned but I guess we will see what the RE says further.
Share your high FSH levels if you'd like.

Best of luck to all the ladies on this board. May we all get our little miracle this holiday season

Cycle Day: 2
TTC Cycle #: 19 :crying:
Ovulation and POAS dates: first month off Clomid so ovulation date may be a bit wacky. Predict I may ovulate 12/17
POAS: 12/29
Baby #: 1
Your plan: Absolutely nothing this cycle. The last two cycles I was on Clomid and clearly it did not help so I decided to stay off Clomid this cycle especially because I didn't feel like myself. We planned to begin our first IUI but weren't able to because I had not done the genetic testing required by my RE. Finally got that done yesterday. DH had some more blood work done too so I'm hoping we're ready to go next cycle. All we can do is BD this cycle and just pray we get a little miracle.
