DS1 just turned 3. DS2 is almost 10 months. We are thinking of TTC #3 next cycle. Parents of 3+ tell me...am I setting myself up for a mental breakdown by possibly having babies 2&3 so close together? (IF...big if...I got KO first cycle TTC, they would be 19 months apart and we would have 3 under 4.)

I was so set that it would take us the same short time span that now I'm fearing the worst! Just hoping to hear some reassurance that it hopefully won't take too long

We are currently 1 cycle into TTC #2. With DS, it took 9 months and 2 cycles of Clomid to get pregnant. After I stopped birth control, my first cycle was 26 days, my next around 32 days, and the following 2 cycles were 70+ days.

I am experiencing heavy spotting today, on CD27 of my first post-BC cycle. If this turns into full on AF, that means this first cycle will be 26 days...and the dejavu starts.

Were your experiences TTCing similar or different?

If you have a toddler, a job and a busy life, how often are you having sex during your fertile window? I had 3 days of excellent EWCM and a "high" result on my digital OPKs, BUT my 2 year old has been skipping naps, being extremely cranky and I've been just too tired for sex. Today my reading is "peak" so I am planning on BDing tonight. Do you think that's possibly enough? Or today and tomorrow? How do you fit sex into your busy schedule? :silly: Poor DHs.

Well, I thought I was out on Saturday because I had some brown spotting. That was the day my period was due. Still hasn't started. I felt like I had so many signs of pregnancy that I experienced with my daughter. I was almost certain today when I took a FRER that it would be positive. It was stark white and a giant BFN. I am surprised at how sad I am. Crying. Confused. I'm 38 and had fertility struggles the first time around. I just don't know if I can handle this again. It's so so so hard. And DH just says "whatever is meant to happen will happen." Ugh!m

If your RE or OB had you ask progesterone with your first pregnancy, did you also take it with subsequent pregnancies? I just ovulated yesterday, so of course have no idea if I'm pregnant or not. But when we were working with an RE when I first got pregnant with my daughter, he had me use progesterone suppositories immediately after ovulation. Any experience?

We're not trying, not preventing baby #2. Well, I started OPKs this month and never got a full on positive. I had EWCM about 2 days after my period, which I ignored because I did t think I'd ovulate that early. I had a couple days of fairly dark lines on the OPKs but not as dark as the control line. Yesterday and today, the line is barely visible and CM is pretty much non existent. I'm on cycle day 15. I know I shouldn't be upset since we're not even REALLY trying, but it still sucks to miss ovulation in a cycle. You know? :bummed:

Would you avoid this?

I kind of want to if we have a third, after having had an October baby (RIGHT after DD started preschool/childcare for the first time) as my second child. But then I kind of like that my kids will be older in their grade, I like that our whole family has birthdays near each other, and we had a relatively difficult time ttc#2 so I don't really want to worry about the timing so much. It's just that newborn part when they can't have a flu shot and they are so vulnerable that kind of bums me out. DS did have a short hospital stay for fever as a newborn (but he was fine.)

Not sure where to put this so I'm sticking it under TTC but it might belong somewhere else!!

Just curious.

LO1 was 1 month, no issues.

LO2 took over a year of "TTC" but only about six (or so) months of what I would say were pretty much perfectly timed cycles.

We don't know if we will try for a 3rd but I would really love to time a Spring/Summer baby if we do (to avoid a newborn during cold/flu season with two preschoolers.) But I have no idea if that's even feasible!

I'm about to start my first IVF round since having DS and I'm looking forward to so many things if it works (which is crazy since I was sure I was one and done for almost the first year of DS's life).

-seeing two pink lines. Even though 2/3 BFPs ended in heartache for me, there is nothing like seeing those lines.
-I am looking forward to a little baby sleeping in my arms again. My big boy is just too big to even rock anymore.
-Lots of naps (DS will be in school so it will mean lots more down time for me, and I love a quiet apartment with coffee. always a plus!)
-Breaking out my sons old clothes (the few I've kept, if it's another boy)
-getting to buy all new stuff if it's a girl!
- decorating another nursery (it's hard to not start daydreaming and pinning)
-Trying to BF again, I really have a strong urge (it didn't work out so well last time. Again, it's surprising I'm saying this because I was sure I wouldn't even try BF again if we had another)
- trying some new mindsets in parenting. I was so nervous and anxious and uptight the first time so we didn't do much until DS was almost 6 months. I am looking forward to trying a more relaxed parenting approach (in some aspects). I think that I'll enjoy it a lot more since I won't be as scared, and that's really appealing. Like a do-over.
-seeing DS as a big brother and eventually them playing together. I have two nephews and although they fight, they are BEST friends
- being pregnant. I'm a weirdo who loves to be pregnant and wearing maternity clothes
- another shot at a positive birth experience. I was so unprepared for the shit show that was my first time (long labor with c section and nicu time), and I really think it shed a negative light on the first few weeks of parenthood. I'm looking forward to KNOWING I'm having a c section and being able to enjoy that initial bonding time (hopefully)

I feel like this is a big brain dump, but I just got overwhelmed with excitement as my new cycle starts, I felt like I had to gush and see what others are looking forward to.

Our son (2 1/2) was a pleasant surprise, but a surprise none the less. We'd been married awhile but my husband had gotten out of the marines only about a year prior to getting pregnant. We only had a 1 bedroom apartment, we wanted to buy a house but where we live the housing market is really expensive. my husband works construction and his job was very unstable at the time. We upgraded to a big 2 bedroom when our son was about a year old but we do still rent. My husbands job has gotten more stable over time and a lot more $$ especially the last 6 months to where he wants to have another child... And there's a part of me that wants that too. We give our son a good life and we are a good little family unit together. But being surrounded by big houses in surburbia makes me feel inadequate to the point where I don't know if I should have another child before we buy a house, which we still need some time to do. At the same time, I don't want my children to be far apart in age. So I feel so stressed about it and torn. Has anyone felt like this about baby number 2.. I feel like everyone will think I'm crazy to purposely try to another child now.....

TTC #2 since April, although I think we've only had 2 legit shots at it since then (missed fertile window 1x and then one cycle was annovulatory, I think, my cycles are generally a bit long and irregular). I'm struggling with the age gap we're looking at now across LO1 and this hypothetical baby, 4 years now at minimum, and just wondering what the future holds. I know it hasn't been that long but I'm feeling down at the beginning of this cycle, regretting not starting trying sooner, I guess?

I'm having some blood work done by my GP, some standard stuff and then she threw in a hormone panel and vit d for me, so perhaps I'll get more info in case anything is going on.

Anyone out there in this position? Seems like there arent as many of us who are in this positio. TTC #2.

I'm very very blessed to have two daughters who were conceived with no difficulty. Our first was conceived on our 2nd month of charting. Our second was also conceived on our second month, which was also only my second cycle PP.

We are onto our 5th cycle of trying for #3. I know 5 cycles isn't long in the scheme of things. I was just wondering if anyone else had a harder time conceiving after having it come easy the first ( + ) times. Did you have to do anything different, or did it just end up happening?

At what point do you talk to your Dr? I'm afraid that if I go to the Dr, she'll just tell me, 'you have two young kids, give your body time.'

I was lucky to conceive T the first cycle off birth control. I always hoped subsequent pregnancies would be the same but it doesn't look that way! We're into our 3rd cycle this time, and we tried one cycle last year before changing our minds...so 4 cycles total.

Was it different for you? Did you conceive your other pregnancies quickly?

I have always thought I wanted kids super close in age. Now that DD is 7 months, we are starting to think about when to TTC. Is it weird that I feel sad thinking DD won't have me to herself anymore? She's so little and I want her to have 100% of my attention (sorry DH :silly: ) On the other hand, I'm not getting any younger and I do want a big family. I see my sisters kids and they are all so close in age and it's SO much fun for them, so I want to give that to DD too! I have 3 siblings as well and I love being part of a big family.

DH and I were pretty raring to go on TTC #2. This go around it seems we're both less gung ho about it! DD2 just turned one and we had decided we'll revisit TTC for #3 when she's one. I'm waffling! I just started a new job and I'm really enjoying this easier stage where she's a little more independent and sleeps better at night. I am dreading doing the newborn thing all over again. But yet I (think?!) know we want a third and want them in similar age separations. My first two are 28m apart. 1 took a year to conceive and 2 took 9 months. But in an ideal world #1 will start kinder before #3 is in daycare but then I don't want 1 and 3 so far apart.

I'm rambling.

Anyone else waffle between TTC or not for 3 and beyond?

We are ready to start trying for baby #2. Our amazing daughter is 7-months-old. We're still breastfeeding full-time and I've seen no sign of AF or ovulation. I know I'm very naive on the subject, but would I have to stop nursing her in order to start trying? I don't think I'm willing to do that. :(

After combing through old threads, I thought I would see if there were any new mamas out there who got pregnant while breastfeeding and continued to do so!

My LO is just over 4 months old and is EBF. I haven't gotten a period yet, and DH and I are not trying (because no cycle) but not preventing. I know it's unlikely, but I am holding out hope I will get pregnant by/around falltime (if it doesn't happen- we will use protection until next summer).

Has anyone gotten pregnant when your EBF little one was around 6 months? We will start solids end of summer/ early fall so I am not sure if that affects timing. What is the likelihood of this happening?

Also- anyone continued breastfeeding a young LO (6-12 months) while pregnant? I know that pregnancy affects supply & taste but I would love to continue breastfeeding if I do get pregnant (if LO would still like to).

Any stories/ advice?!?

DH and I had been planning to start TTC in August, but last night we had a conversation and agreed to start in June! The flip-side is that we will be skipping August so we don't have another May baby (just too many things going on in May).

This morning I scheduled an appointment with the midwife to get my IUD removed (the 9th) and I am going to start charting my cycle again and taking my prenatal vitamins. I have been doing a Beach Body program at the Y to get back to a healthier weight and get into a good workout routine.

I can't believe we are at this point already! What did you do to prepare for TTC #2?

We would like to start TTC #2 later this year, but cycles have been crazy since pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy they were long at about 35-37 days, but consistent. Cycles since I got my period back have been 37, 45, 90, 29, and currently 36 days with no end yet.

I have no idea how to prepare for TTC #2. I saw my doctor about the crazy cycles and ran a bunch of blood tests - everything was normal. Any tips for prepping my body? I can't imagine doing OPKs for 90 days :/
