My 10 yo son gets so sick w covid. He’s had it at least 3 times since taking off masks in the last 1.5 years. He last tested + on 3/1 and has really struggled with cough/wheezing (new asthma?), falling asleep at school, dizziness. We are waiting for his pulm appt but I’m sorta spiraling about long covid - looking into moving vs homeschool vs staying put but making us be the only masked people in our community (liberal Chicago suburb).
Do you know of any schools (private etc) with covid caution circa 2021- masks, outdoor meals etc?

Long story short, I was bit by a tick a few weeks ago and just diagnosed with Lyme disease. I feel okay and my only real symptom is a huge bullseye shaped rash. The antibiotic should be very effective at clearing it up. But, for some reason, I’m having such terrible anxiety about it. My mind is just spinning as a read about it - What if the antibiotic doesn’t work? What if I develop long term neurological issues and can’t keep up at work? What if one of my kids was bit and it’s gone undetected? I’d love to hear other experiences if anyone has dealt with this before. I’m usually extremely rational about this stuff but can’t stop worrying.

At midnight my county returns to an indoor mask mandate. I don't mind the masks and most people in my area continued to wear theirs without any fuss even when not required. But I really hope summer camps and activities stay open (and of course that people stay healthy). I got an email from the neighboring county's library cancelling their indoor youth activities for the summer. I'm hoping that's not just the tip of the iceberg.

How's summer protocol looking for you?

(Going anonymous because this is super TMI)

Has anyone experienced bleeding during or after sex while NOT pregnant? I’ve had it happen during pregnancy but recently it has been happening every time and it seems like the amount of blood is increasing. We are only having sex a couple times a month so it’s been slow to cause me any concern, but the last time it was a large amount of blood that totally soaked through comforter and sheets, and it wasn’t close to when I’d be expecting my period.

I’m about 3 years out from my last gyno exam, and probably 4 from my last Pap smear (pretty sure I had one when newly pregnant with my last baby who is 3 now!), so I did call to schedule that and when I told them about this they scheduled an ultrasound too.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this because Dr. Google is not my friend!

So it has been a loooong time since I've posted. However I've lurked the whole time 😏
But after two months of repeated 'UTI's, I was able to have an internal ultrasound and discovered that I hadn't been suffering from UTI's at all but rather I've had a baseball sized mass within my uterine wall, a golf ball sized mass in my cervix and masses on at least one of my ovaries likely two years.
I know possibly two years bc two years ago this past March I had a uterine ablation and at that time my ultrasound was normal.
So, after waiting more than a week with no idea how to interpret my ultrasound results, I met with my Gynecologist who immediately said we needed to get things out of there.
She said 'it can't kill you if it's in a jar' and while I laughed bc she's right and I love her and her bedside manner. I'm still not feeling any better about it three weeks after making the decision to have a Hysterectomy.
Now I was already 100% done having children, I mean I had my tubes removed four years ago and then two years ago had my ablation. So making babies wasn't a thing for me anymore. But once I knew I would be removing possibly all of the parts of me that made and housed all three of my daughters, I just haven't made peace with it.
We have a running joke that I'm having my baby condominium removed. And joking around about how angry my uterus is so it's gotta go.
But. I'm only 38. I just don't feel old enough.
And if we aren't able to leave one of my ovaries I'll immediately be thrown into menopause. That in itself is terrifying.
But no matter how I still feel about it, I'm scheduled for surgery in one week.

I'm not entirely sure anyone will be active on these boards that are or have been in this part of their reproductive life. But if you are or have experience how did you cope? How did you heal? How have you dealt with menopause? I guess I just want to know I'm not alone in this at this age.

Apologies for the potentially depressing question. Lately my anxiety about Covid has been sky-high and then my brother texted me and told me he has it and he's high risk so I got even more anxious, and one of the ways I manage anxiety is making plans. So I wanted to ask for anyone willing to share - if you had Covid and your partner had it as well at the same time and you both had symptoms, how did you manage things with kids, each other, etc., especially if you have school-age kids. I've heard from folks who were sick but had asymptomatic partners, so someone was able to take on more of the load, but not really from anyone where both adults were sick (and possibly kids). Since having someone come over to help with kids etc is not an option, so wondering what did you do to manage through in this kind of situation?

Looking for some stories and shared experiences. I’m 41, and my periods have consistently been pretty short, pretty light, and on a 24/25 day cycle. Then my last period trailed off with, like, 7 days of spotting before it was fully gone. Now I’m a week late. Given that I’m 41, was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve at 34, and my husband has had a vasectomy I figure my odds of being pregnant are super slim, so is this just the kind of weirdness I can expect now that I’m aging out of fertility?

Does anyone here get hormonal/menstrual migraines? if so, has anything helped? I'd love some advice!

I used to think my headaches were sinus headaches or allergy related, but my mom suggested I track them to see if they're related to my menstrual cycle because I get them regularly. I've been tracking since August, and while I do get a headache that lasts 1-3 days each month, it's not at exactly the same time in my cycle. I'm on bcp (ortho tri cyclen lo generic). The pain is usually worse behind my eyes, around my temples, and the base of my head/neck

I'll eventually ask my dr, but with a covid surge in my area getting non-emergency care is on the backburner!

Hi all! So the title says it all - I’ve been dealing with intermittent night sweats for years, but it definitely got worse after having my second kid three years ago. It’s not nightly, and seems to be t the worst around the time of my period, which I imagine is hormonal, but I get them at random times occasionally as well. I’m only in my late 30s, so I don’t think I’m menopausal, but of course I’m freaked out because cancer always pops up as a possible cause when you Google it. I don’t have any of the other “red flag” symptoms like fevers or fatigue, and I recently had a CBC blood test (for an unrelated issue) and that was fine. I also my thyroid checked a year or so ago, and blood sugars, and that didn’t flag any issues. I’m not on any meds which would cause it. Anyone else out there dealing with unexplained night sweats? How have you dealt with it?

I’m on cycle 2 with my first cup and am sooo in love. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t try this sooner! One question I have though for those of you that use them - are you wearing a panty liner or pad too just in case? I’m trying to figure out what would work best, but worried about leaks eventually. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it does it ever just randomly leak a flood or would it just be minor spotting if you’re close to filling it up?

Ive been having some annoying morning respiratory symptoms ever since getting over a bad cold in March. Basically I get weird bubbling in my lower right ribs when I breath in and out after lying down for a long period of time (ie nighttime) and occasionally get some congestion in my chest during the day. No shortness of breath or other symptoms. I have a chest X-ray later this month and follow up with my GP but she assumed it was inflamed airways from seasonal allergies that isn’t responding to my usual allergy meds, and has suggested I try Singulair. I was reading the side effects/reviews online and have freaked myself out with the stories of folks who had bad side effects, including neuro and emotional issues after taking a few doses.

Just curious if anyone here has used it and what your experience was? Thanks!

How long does it take for hcg to go to zero after a loss or medical abortion? It’s been 5 weeks for me and last wk I think I got a light period but I’m still getting positive pregnancy tests.

I was recently diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (CHD), specifically, an atrial septal defect (ASD - a hole in my heart). I am almost 39, so this was a huge shock, although also somewhat of a relief to finally know that the symptoms I’ve been experiencing on and off for four years weren’t in my head!

I’m currently undergoing additional diagnostic testing to determine whether I will need open heart surgery to repair the hole.

I’m still processing everything, but I don’t want to freak myself out so I’m trying to not think about it too much, yet. I have an 8 month old and a 4 year old, so they keep me pretty busy.

So far my cardiologist has been pretty optimistic about being able to repair the hole to prevent future complications, but I know if I have to undergo open heart surgery I’m facing a long recovery.

Does anyone have any experience they’d be willing to share regarding any of the following:

1. Having a CHD/ASD
2. Undergoing major (heart) surgery, including preparation and recovery
3. How to talk to my 4 year old DD about everything....yesterday she told me my heart was “ridiculous” and I should “stop going to the doctor so much”. Cute/funny, but I want to be able to be open with her without scaring her.

Any advice?
