@TurtleDoves: yes, definitely ... I'll let you watch the episode before I say more about that!

on a positive note, the Duggars were babywearing! they had their little ones in Ergos while they were sight seeing. At least they looked like Ergos ... :)

@rrachael: first of all: can we get a "spoiler alert"?!?! Hehe I was so excited to watch this episode. I don't usually watch either...
That is so sad:( I hope the baby is OK too.
But side note: come on now, I couldn't go to china at 34w pregnant AND be on my feet working. I feel like that isn't a sound decision.

I don't usually watch 19 kids and counting but I saw on a preview today that someone was going into labor on the episode ... while they're on vacation in CHina... so I had to watch it.

It turns out one of the camera members was 34 weeks pregnant and her water broke, so it was go time. It was really interesting... but then heartbreaking!! When the baby was born, they showed her to mom then immediately took her to the NICU. Her husband then said that they wouldn't be able to see her for three days!!!! Could you imagine?? What if she was planning to breastfeed? My heart is breaking for that mom :(

I also disagree with some of their choices, but having a miscarriage that late in pregnancy is so terribly sad. If a funeral is what they need to grieve their lost baby, then that is exactly what they should do.

It makes me sick that people would make such hateful comments. Whatever happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"?

oh, that's terrible. I think that they need to do what is best for them as a family to help them grieve, whether it be a funeral or something else.

While I also think that a miscarriage and funeral is something family should deal with privately, if they DO televise it I think their motivation would be ministry to other families that have been through or are going through the same experience. Everything they do with their TV show they view as ministry, and I've never seen them as spotlight hungry or attention whores.

Simply the way they dress and carry themselves speaks volumes to me about their desire not for attention, but to be an inspiration to other families and show them that if they can handle 19, they can surely find a way to get through with their 3 (or however many)!

I don't agree with their family planning beliefs, but I do respect them for the way they are raising their children to be responsible members of society. They don't need the TV show for livelihood like many other shows (Kate + 8, Quints by Surprise, etc), they are independently wealthy and can provide for their family on their own. They don't rely on the government for help and they spend a lot of time doing charity work and helping others.

This is why it makes me so sad to see people attacking them online and making false claims about welfare or attention whoring, or making nasty and rude comments about the state of Michelle's uterus or vagina (which by the way, was created to bear children and is probably doing just fine). I saw a comment on the other thread here on hellobee by a woman that comes from a large family and was hurt by the (tamer) comments even here on hellobee.

I'm glad that most of us here can put aside our personal beliefs and respect this families right to choose, and agree that our sympathy is deserved in this sad time.

Even though I think they are completely irresponsible parents, I can’t imagine going through a miscarriage that late in a pregnancy (or at any time really) and certainly hoped this pregnancy went to full term. I hope that they do whatever will help them heal as a family, and really take the time to speak to each child and find out what would be best for the children they already have to heal and grieve. I agree with others that this will hopefully be something they do privately, and not as a TV special.

Losing a baby no matter your situation is horrible. I do think though that their situation, the risks were much higher than any other pregnancy and they new this. Clearly that doesnt make it better, but I'm sure they can look at their 19 kids and have the support they need.

While I personally believe it was irresponsible of her to get pregnant again following the complications of her last pregnancy I was really hoping she would end up with a healthy baby this time. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a pregnancy this far in. I think given the family's closeness to God having a funeral service will probably be very meaningful for them.

Very sad. :(

If a funeral gives the family some sort of peace and closure then I say they go ahead and do it. An old family friend did that with two of her babies and she seems really happy with the fact that she is able to pay their respects to them. She also recently had a sticky baby and is raising her to know that she is a little sister. People grieve in different ways and I think they should do whatever makes them happy.

That is really sad for her/them. :-(

I think the fact that people are making those comments is disgusting. What happened to "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?" Ugh.

No, I personally don't want 19 kids or anything of that sort, but you know what, they have managed to support their children and raise them in a loving environment all on their own, so it's not my place to judge.

And as far as the funeral, perhaps that is best with so many siblings to consider. Maybe it would help the younger kids understand what happened, but again, that is just speculation.

I also can't imagine the loss-- especially considering the number of people in their family, it's that many people who are heartbroken. I'm sure it's tough on the kids who have seen so many new babies come, they were probably excited the same way they always get. And considering their 19th was born so premature and they probably went through so much when they weren't sure if she would make it or not...

I agree that if a funeral would be best for their family (especially for the kids, and especially since none of them have experienced a miscarriage in the family) then they should do whatever's best for them. I personally wouldn't do it, but then again, I'm not caring for the well-being of 19 children!

As for their life choices... I honestly think more power to them. Especially since they are debt-free, not living off the government, and seem to be a well functioning family-- which is a lot more than a lot of families in this country. They've been blessed with a miracle 19 times, when some people get zero!

Octomom, on the other hand.... ;)
